They do that with like nearly all arcade games with the screens.
And they do the same with the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. The ghosts in the ballroom are beneath were you go over and they are just reflected into the big glass window and it makes them look like they are in the ballroom dancing and stuff.
I guess it looks cool.
