The length of redstone doesn't delay the circuit at all, the reason that those 2 doors do not open/close simultaneously is because of the torch.

I hide my redstone in my walls, mostly on the same level as the highest part of the door. (Or a block above.) But that way requires a lot of work. =o

I have a really weird problem with mine. One door works but the 'negative' one doesn't. I have the wire hidden under the door (if you count downwards, there is a door, a block, then redstone wire on a block). If I click the door manually, then connect the power, it closes. But after that it wont open again when i turn the power back off, its permanently shut. Any help?

Redstone dust path length won't affect speed at all. It is the torch that slows down the second door.
