alright this is a bit different topic, but im curious as to if you can record your master with an external program, such as replay music or audacity, when i try to do this there is a deathly screeching noise instead of music, but you can hear the song very quietly in the background.. im using replay music
HUGE PROBLEM! it recognises my guitar through my usb audio interface ok. but it doesnt record anything unless i "monitor" the sound. I dont want to monitor the sound because i monitor it outside the pc. directly from the interface to the monitor speakers. how can i NOT monitor the sound but still be able to record it?
Why does my recording sounds so soft? And when I adjust the gain on my interface it is like a soft overdrived sound.. I do not get this on GarageBand!
Once it is armed I see and hear nothing... My guitar doesn't seem to get through my AI. But my AI seems to receive signals when I strum my guitar. Does anyone have a solution to that?
If anybody if using a PC and want to reduce the annoying echo, go to sound properties, and click voice cancellation in Speaker Properties (in "Enhancements") if you need to use audio in (like a Kaossilator, etc.). To further reduce echo, increase its "level" in the Speaker Properties tab "Levels", and reduce the speaker's level to near zero (also disable the mic if it helps). This reduced the echo for my Kaossilator, but I hope Ableton posts a video how to fix the echo properly.
Hi I am a musician who just grew out of garageband and into ableton I've been recording my guitar through a Saffire PRO 14 just fine but I cant hear anysound when I try to play any of the loops in ableton does anyone know why that may be?
I have a microphone, but nothing happens when I clicks on the recordbutton. And I can't record my voice. Do I need a mixer table? I only have a microphone.
(Sorry if my english is bad, I'm Swedish. girl who's 14 years old.
@DeviCortez About this issue with latency... We had no problem recording and monitoring using a $20 piece of software, with the same computer. So why should we have trouble with this one? But with Ableton we find we must disable the "Wave" output on the advanced Windows volume control in order to record the track. Otherwise what we're playing gets delayed by a about half a second.
However, in order to play back this track, the "Wave" output must be ENabled. This makes it impossible to recor
does anyone know how to save all the tracks as one audio file in order to upload to myspace. It saves as one main Live file for the set but plays individual tracks, not all of them together as a song.
@MrMediox if you double click the track, you will see master slave, and warp at the bottom. i think if you set it to master, it will play at its own tempo you used to record allowing you to play other segments at different tempos.
I thank you very much, i bought a UX1 Line 6 pre amp and the ableton live software was within the package, too. I tried to figure out how it works, but i was in the session view and i had absolutely no overview :D
there are no german tutorials and so i was a little bit lost, but youre video solved all my problems ^^
To the vid:
Very very good explanation, no questions left, cool voice, helpfull animations and very good understandable articulation!
when i try to record, it picks up the audio output. it's not feedback through the mic. when i turn the mic off, it still records the output. anybody knows what makes this happen? thx
@D00mH0und132 have u tried track delay or negative track delay located under the channels if you cant see it you need to select it where u select send return etc
@D00mH0und132 Buy a USB audio interface, or better, a Firewire audio interface, then run the instrument through that to the computer. The echo is an issue of latency. Latency is how long it takes for the information coming from your instrument/voice to get to your software and have it registered and/or recorded. Hope that helps
@D00mH0und132 youre getting feedback from somewhere, i had a problem i couldnt figure out for so long, it killed being able to use any sound on my computer- i have win 7 - I finally figured out in volume mixer, turning stereo mix all the way down fixed it.. if thats not it Im sure I can figure it out if u still need help
If i record in live at a sertain tempo and after the recording i change the tempo i have a strange pulsating sound in my recorded audio... how can i fix that??? good vid btw
When you have audio that Ableton is trying to warp to a different tempo if will often have an echo or a distortion. There are several tutorials on YouTube and on the web that tell you how to change this
When I attempt to record straight from a mic into my laptop on Ableton, EXACTLY how this video tells me to, the program makes a loud "waa-waa-waa-beeeeep" noise and it won't stop until I turn off the global recorder or unplug the mic.
that sound is called feedback, basicly, the mic is hearing what the speakers are putting out and it puts it into an infinite loop. the best way to get rid of that is to turn the monitoring mode to off, if u want to continue hearing what is being said, put in some head phones or just keep the mic away form anything that is realated to the out put of the speakers
Metal is great and this program is only good for looping. I don't like it. Its to damn hard to navigate in. Cubase and Logic is faaar better i believe. Don't talk shit about metal. Bang your head to retreat! :)
Latency is a measure of the delay between the time you make a sound and the time the computer records (monitors) that sound. The unit for latency is the number of samples the driver collects before sending them to the application as input. Lower latency can make recording easier and more accurate, but not all computers can operate at the lowest latencies without introducing noise. If you have unwanted input noise, increase latency.
good answer, but ANY latency makes it impossible to make music, so increasing it is totally out of the question. if using an m-audio interface, will that reduce latency to minimal?
Double your sample rate in the maudio control panel and lower the buffer size, that should do the trick, and use the asio driver for your sound card. if you want to record without latency you can enable direct monitoring if your sound card supports, this means the sound card takes what you're playing in and puts it right out to the speakers, it means you can't hear the effects though.
