a friend of mine had the 1st gen (from 2001) in 2009. it was thick as hell, scratched to death like ipods become, had a mechanical click wheel, and 4 buttons above it. the screen was black and white and the HDD was 5gb :-P

theres no converter, its a hard to make mod.

and that is the real deal. with a space to dock your iPod so you don't have to secure it with rubber bands. So if you want it, I suggest supporting this guy and buying it.
