I worked with Jeff a couple years back on my Sophistication album, and he's as much fun to jam with as he is to listen to. Awesome video. Make it funky, Jeff!
I had the great opportunity to play this song live with Jeff in 1985 when he played Minneapolis then came to our club and played with us. A dream come true for me. Then in 1990 he called me to tour with his band, I was too sick to go. Sucked! Love his music.
as much as i think 99% of smooth jazz is cheese, i can't front on the way Lorber digs in. He is one of the guys you listen to for funk playing on the Rhodes.

SMOKIN GROOVE! I love the drummers change to cross stick on the snare a couple seconds into Lorber's solo. Lorber on Rhodes is just mindblowing.

jeff's "tune88" is the example of making simple 3,4 chords interesting in passing.I love JHL sound.

Yeah , i've bought almost all his work .
Still have to get his last 2 or 3 albums .
But his early & edgy work is my fave .
This jam is originally from the album "Water Sign" , released in 1979 .
