  • That's a really, really smooth song. By the way, who is that side kick there? Is that one of your students?

  • @healthnbeauty1 Thank you for your comment. No, Bill Helferich is not my student. He is a long time friend I met while attending a guitar seminar at Cloumbia Univ. in NYC. Please check out his new CD on cdbaby. Search his name. Enjoy.

  • This performance was REALLY, REALLY cool!!!!!!! That was marvelous!!!!!!! You sound like you have a country accent. Where are you from?

  • @healthnbeauty1 Thank you for your comment. Mainly, I am from the east coast, but I lived for a spell down south in Texas. Enjoy.

  • This is one of my favourite Wolf tunes and you guys do a very nice version of it.

And again those cool cigar boxes...

  • Thank you again for your comments. Do you know about Cigar Box Nation? Enjoy.

  • how much did your guitar cost?

    It sounds amazing.

  • Thank you. The one on the left was made by Schoen guitars. It is called a Turbo Diddley 6, and if I remember correctly, it was about $1200. The one on the right was made by my friend Jimmy Millinchuk using the old neck from my 1935 National Duolian and a very large retail cigar box that I bought on ebay. He charged me $400 to assemble it. He is currently building another. A realistic price might be in the neighborhood of $800. Enjoy.

  • hey kenny check out the cover of me and my friend jammin to this on his channel. Italiaguitarmaniac15 is the channel to look on! 5/5 btw!

  • Thank you. I checked out your jam and left a comment. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy.

  • Hey Kenni,

That small guitar your playing sounds very very very cool man!! What's the size of the cone in there? 6 inches like the uke-cones?

Cool version of this song aswell, you and Bill play great together!

    Cheers and best wishes, Frans.

  • Thank you Frans. This guitar was made by Kurt Schoen. A Trubo Diddley Six . I believe he spins his own cones. Google to find his site. He told me the wood for the biscuit came from a local slaughtering house. A real piece of the Killing Floor! Now that is dark. Enjoy.

  • what did you use to cut out the star and moon cresent

  • Thank you for your question. I'm sorry, but my friend Jimmy, who is a professional builder, made this guitar for me. I have no idea of the methods of his trade. Visit cigarboxnation. They have many chat groups, and I'm sure they can tell you the best method for cutting out sound holes. Enjoy.

  • Thats a great song. Its wierd to see you playing with someone else, but whoever it is, they did a good job playing with you. Keep up the good pickin and grinnin bro!!

  • Thank you. This is my long time friend, Bill. Us two and my friend, Jackie formed an informal band called The Old Blues Trio. We get together on Friday nights to drink beer, eat pizza, and shoot music videos. We will be getting back together soon. Enjoy.

  • I was told Zeppelin stole a part of this song, and i cant figure out what part.

  • I'm not sure about this song. I know they took the, Squeeze my lemon lyric from Robert Johnson's Travelin' Riverside Blues. Happy New Year. Enjoy.

  • Hey great vid!

Is there anywhere online to order the resonator style front plates. Iv been looking for one for my cigar-box guitars but 2nd hand shops etc havent turned anything up yet.

  • Thank you. You can contact Frank at republicguitars. He can supply you with cover plates. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • is it hard to sing howlin wolf songs cuz he does have a weird voice but in a good way

  • Thank you. You know, come to think of it,many of the old Blues Masters had some strong rough voices, Blind Willie Johnson, Charlie Patton, etc. I think they had hard lives and lived in tough times.

  • Did you say that you sell CD's on ebay? I'd buy one.

  • Thank you. Please go to ebay, and search Keni Lee Happy Holidays Enjoy.

  • Now that's some low down old Blues. The Blues they played before it got mixed with Ragtime to make Jazz.

  • Thank you. I'm a big fan of the early rural blues. I enjoy all the other forms too, but once it went up north to Chicago it was never the same. It lost it's down home folky country side for a flasher sophisticated uptown city sound. Enjoy.

  • Yup, It's just so refreshing to hear some basic blues, you never be too good for the basics.

  • Yes, I agree. It's like a good cup of coffee, and a big slice of apple pie. Enjoy.

  • Well I prefer Iced Tea, and Pumpkin Pie, but we get the idea.

  • this is brilliant!

  • Thank you.

  • THis is Jimi Hendrix ..yeah harmonica. its time to learn.

  • Thank you. I've always been a big fan of Jimi too. Ya, this song is screaming for harmonica. Enjoy.

  • real people we've got here. yup. keep it up

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • outstanding, you should find some harmonica.

  • Thank you. I agree. I need to find a friend to hang out with that plays Harmonica. It's only a matter of time.

  • good stuff guys.

  • Thank you. This is a tune Bill and me played back at Guitar Camp (International Guitar Seminar at Columbia Univ. NYC). I teach it in the Series One Lessons. If only we had a Harp player.

  • is that a ceramic slide? whats your favorite kind and what kinds have you used? brass, ceramic, glass, porcelein? i like using my coricidin bottle replica. u ever used one of those? awesome. who are your favorite guitar players dead and alive?

  • No ceramic. I mostly use heavy brass and glass bottlenecks that friends have made for me. I have a coricidin replica, but it is slightly to short for my pinky, and the glass is lighter, and may be better for electric guitar. Unfortunately, most of the musicians I cover are now pasted away. There is a very long list of favorites; Charlie Patton, Son House, Robert Johnson, Fred McDowell, Bukka White.........Who do you like?

  • My favorites are Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, and Eric Clapton has a few cool slide songs. Next time the Allman Brother come near your house go see them. Warren and Derek especially are just phenomenal playing slide.

  • Thank you for your comments. Yes, all these artist are great musicians. I have seen Warren Haynes and Greg Allman in concert. I have seen videos of Warren Haynes and Derek playing acoustic slide together. Great stuff. Enjoy.

  • Man, every time. you never cease to amaze. keep on playing man.

  • Thank you. If it was up to me, I'd play forever. Unfortunately, work always gets in the way.

  • Man, every time. you never cease to amaze. keep on playing man.

  • Its "Where WUZ you last night" Not "where were you"

  • Thank you for your comment. Many times I will change the words to fit the way I sing or the way I would say a certain phrase. I concern myself mainly with trying to express the idea of the song.

  • The other night I was thinking to myself how great it would be to incorporate slide into my finger-style.

I did a search for finger-style slide guitar and this is where I ended up. I was speechless and so excited I ordered a copy of your instructional cd. I can't wait to hear Good & Evil too.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you for your purchase. After you receive the CD, please give me a review. If you have any questions about the instructional, please feel free to write.

  • SO good!!!!

  • Thank you. I teach this song on my instructional CD that is available on ebay. Just search: Keni Lee You will find my new CD, Good & Evil there also. Thanks for all the kind words.

  • Thank you. The large one was made by my friend, Jimmy who is a professional builder who likes to take on my little projects because they are fun and different to build. The little one was made by Kurt of Schoen guitars

  • Sweet guitars. Nice sound.
