how did you get all those HP ?? do you beat this guy after the completion of the game or before de completion answer me fast im playing right now thk you
Very freaking helpful, mate! I tried taking one of these on yesterday, without the rings, and without daze, and it took me close to ten minutes... :/ This method will shorten my time down a heap, making grinding that tiny bit more bearable! Thanks champ! (p.s. your gamefaqs guide is pretty swish too!)
How do you get your party to attack the right leg before the head? Mine always attack the head after the left leg is destroyed, so I basically lose out on a whole turn of staggering the leg.
@Straffus hit the right leg with ruin right after highwinding the left leg, then switch to tridisaster, that will have changed the target for the rest of the team and should save you wasting a whole gauge for your ravager
To anybody having trouble killing the 'Toise before he gets back up:
I've been running into the same problem and I think I see what I've been doing wrong; I'm not correctly sync'ing Fang's attacks with Snow's Daze spam. It only lasts a couple of seconds and you need to make the most out of each of Fang's hits. Also note that a rather significant amount of time is spent actually staggering the 'Toise. Level 5 RAVs will help with that.
How do you keep him down long enough to kill him? I have stats actually higher than all of this, using the exact same roles/abilities but he is still getting up and wiping me before he even hits half health
@TsuDymphna i noticed that too on my first tries. then if you look closely to the video when the team starts to give it to the toise. Arthellinus cancels the last 2-3 attack actions to reset the sync attack with daze. this is also true for the next set of attack cancelling the last, since Fang has an extra chip shot to continue the sync. when the toise hit points goes below or on the 1/3 mark, finish with highwind ftw! :)
the adamantoise always stands up before i kill it. i have slightly more strength for fang than yours, the exact equipment, and executed the moves almost flawlessly without wasting any time. the only reason i can think of is that my snow is rather useless in casting daze consistently. help plz?
great guide man!!!I can also kill them a bit earlier (in crystarium progress) than this with a summon no saz I used Fang, Hope, Lighting (leader) all with Tier 2 * level weapons, then i quickly summon with light, then straightaway go into gestalt mode and use triangle to use the finishing move straight away. Then use RAV + SAB + COM or maybe RAV SAB RAV to simultanously debuff and stagger the toise before using power of one to reach chain gauge 999% then use COM + COM+ RAV to unleash hell
So I'm having issues getting this method to work. I can't seem to keep the leg staggered long enough to get to 650-700% stagger to use Highwind before the chain gauge runs out! I have all the equipment/abilities suggested in the walkthrough. I'm doing the ATB recharge switching between Tri-Disasters. I just feel like I'm moving as fast as I possibly can, but doing nowhere near filling up the chain gauge as quickly as the author is. Any help would be amazing!
@craig2007 syncing Fang's attacks with Snow's Daze is key here, I had to try ~30 times to get it right but definitely works - got 2440 str too on Fang.
Try canceling a couple attacks when the first Daze fades early and reuse the ATB bars on the second Daze. The rest comes quite easy.
@craig2007 I just had this same problem. It is crucial that you have a Genji Glove equipped on Fang to make this work. Otherwise, Highwind won't knock out a leg at any stagger % and the 'toise will eventually kill your party with a very strong attack. Also, in his gamefaqs guide, the author points out that 2500 str for Fang is a safe minimum.
@chrisksc It's because of the ATB full bar refresh trick. Every other turn, when changing Paradigms, you start with a full ATB bar, allowing you to instantly attack, use spells, etc. Note that I said every other turn, not every turn.
@chrisksc If ya switch between two paradigms every other turn you can skip an atb charge, which adds up to about 1,5 times more turns, thus more damage
Ok this vid is making me feel utterly ashamed.. I'm much stronger than this and I still can't beat him without summoning (I don't use death). Guess I'll try your strategy now that I realize I've wasted so much money and lots of hours "preparing". I really shouldn't have underestimated the skills I already had.....
I can't do this. I'm doing it exactly the same as the video. I promise. He always has 1/4 or less of his HP... then he stands up. I have even better stats... but Vanille WON'T use ruin. Even after I buff with haste/faithra. It's so much bullshit. Even timing Daze he gets back up too soon.
@xerio Snow has the item "Growth Egg" which doubles all CP gained in any fight. Adamantoise give 40,000 CP per kill and with the Growth Egg that doubles to 80,000
This method is great. I keep failing at it, but that's probably because my Fang has only 2.2k strength and my Snow doesn't have a happen that helps his magic. If you're trying this out, I highly suggest tier 2 weapons at least. I also suggest using a Fang with at least 2.3-2.4k Strength. Her Highwind and her attacks with Daze are then much more reliable. Other than that, I'm glad I found this method. Much better than Summons + TP Farming.
I have tier 3 weap for Fang and Light (Pandoran and Lionheart), all primary roles maxxed and lvl 2 in one of the secondary, but no Genji Gloves neither Gaian Rings and the turtle simple destroys me. Is the glove and the ring the difference here? Is it possible to beat them with my stats?
@dambros - You definitely need Genji Gloves for Fang at least. If Fang doesn't have GG, then she won't be able to take out the Staggered forelegs with one Highwind (unless you have insanely high Strength, but I still wouldn't recommend not using Highwind). Gaian Rings you can do without. The reason why Gaian Rings are better is because they can give up to 40% protection. However, General Belts (buyable through B&W Outfitters) work just as fine.
Dude this is awesome. I've been trying to find a method to farm adamantoises without using a summon just to get the Traps. My primary roles are maxed out and everyone is at level 2 in their secondary roles, so I'll give this a try and see if it works! :)
@fledy This method worked beautifully! The best part is I can probably modify the method to suit the strength of my party. This method is great if you're still struggling for that first trap. All the other 'no summon' methods require my party to have strength they simply don't have yet.
@mattgamer87 Are your stats high enough? I could Highwind the legs at 710%~ with 2400 str. You must wear the Genji Glove, too, maybe that's your problem?
Tried this about twenty times... managed to get him down twice, but never killed him.
Quake either gets me, or he gets up too fast.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong (apart from being slightly under-spec'd from you), I'm Para Shifting and buffing as you do, when you do, but I just don't seem to pull it off most of the time. Really frustrating >;(
This is cool. I beat the Adamantoise before finishing the game just so I could open both treasure spheres. I had Sazh using Blitz, Fang and Vanille and used an Aegisol and summon. Took maybe four tries - the damage was really tight each time and there was no way of surviving the stomp with only 3.7k hp!
9000 HP might be pushing it. I wouldn't chance going under maybe 11k. I also thought about no Lv 5 roles but erred on the side of caution. As a result of going for the Lv 5 crystals, I got the HP boosts.
Snow is necessary for Daze (Light doesn't have it), which is what is doubling Fang's damage to about 250k per hit. If you want to use Light, you'll need to build to 999% and hope COM/COM/COM is enough to take him out before he gets up. It may be doable but will probably be tougher.
Oh I didn't notice the Dazing... well I'm at the final area just before the last boss, so I'm gonna be farming for cp for a while. Guess I'll start on the Sab role for snow =P
I'll try it with Lightning though, I'll get back to you on how well it goes.
@Arthellinus i disagree, this is totally do-able with even less than 9k, if u use gaian rings and the champ belt, just gotta make sure u dont miss and SEN shifts and get the timing right u can survive it
@helldemon44 I have no doubt that you can survive with < 9k HP, but the actual fight will take longer and you'll have to deal with Quake, in all likelihood.
@helldemon44 if you're doing a stage 9 adamtoise fight, you will really need to switch the defense to offense. The longer you take out the legs, the harder the fight will be. one gaian ring is enough, 'cause protectra will actually shield you from it
i actually had no idea you could edit auto battle for the 2 non-leader characters, and ive beaten the game

Vanille is equipped with the Connoisseur Catalog.
Shouldn't it be the Survivalist? Equipping the Connoisseur Catalog kills your chances of getting a platinum ingot, doesn't it?

@mattgamer87 Use the Genji Glove and Bravery/Bravera if you're having problems OHKOing the legs at 650-700% Stagger.
Getting the stagger that high with 3x RAV is easy for the most part--even easier if Vanille slaps Imperil on the leg first.
As for survival, Gaian Rings and General Belts are a godsend.
