Charles Wakefield Cadman was the composer, who was my father's Great Uncle, and one of the founders of the Hollywood Bowl. Very nice performance of his most well-known composition, inspired by the traditional melodies of the Omaha Indians. Wonderful to find some of our family treasures here on You Tube. Thanks very much, Bob! Great Uncle Charles would be very happy to have his music appreciated in this open cultural & historical forum!

From the Land of Sky-blue Water,
They brought a captive maid,
And her eyes they are lit with lightnings,
Her heart is not afraid!
But I steal to her lodge at dawning,
I woo her with my flute;
She is sick for the Sky-blue Water,
The captive maid is mute.
Beautiful song, gorgeously sung.

A popular song of the time. I vaguely recall it was recorded by Nordica. Regardless, Alma Gluck sings it as well as anyone. Thanks for posting!
