Mandarin version is the original, 胡彥彬 is the original singer and song composer.

I believe Canto version was the original version. 林夕 featured Jacky and Eason in the lyrics, who are HK's top singers in the 1990s and 2000s. It's logical that 林夕 feature them in his lyrics due to their position in Cantopop.

However, it doesn't make as much sense if 林文炫 would feature the 2 of them in his lyrics as their achievements in Mandopop scene, especially in Taiwan, is not as recognised as their local singers. He would have put 费玉清 etc if it his work was original.

and there's probably a good reason why the Cantonese version is all in Cantonese with exception to the chorus, my guess is they lyrics sound better in Mandarin along with the melody.

Lastly if you look at the release dates you'll release Justin included it in his album after the release of the mandarin song, so Anson's version is the 原創 (original), hope that helps to clarify

FYI the lyrics are not done by Anson Hu, but by 林文炫.

Anson is the composer, but it doesn't mean that he was the one who used the music first. He could have probably composed the music for others. It is very common in the music industry.

So if part of the chorus is in mandarin, therefore proving mandarin version to be the original version, then does that means songs with lyrics like "Baby" or "I love you" are a copied version of english song?

I never said the lyrics are written by Anson Hu, I said he composed the song, just go to their individual record companies and check the record/release dates and you'll see that the "Original" is in Mandarin, and is the version that was done by Anson Hu.

justin was about to release new album and heard the song, really liked it, through the connection with Paco. anson gave him the right to sing the cantonese ver. justin quickly added the song and released in sept or so. before anson did in nov/dec
