i realize this was posted a while ago, but i used to be like you. i actually tried to read harry potter when it first came out in the first grade, but i couldn't get through the second book - it was just too boring for 7 year old me.

but i just recently re-attempted to read the series, and it took me a couple of weeks but it was completely worth it.

Also: In Britain [where i live] the first book's original title is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, whereas in America I believe it's The Sorcerer's Stone. Just wondering: inside the book do they completely change every 'philosopher' with 'sorcerer' and if so, why? It's a British book, why change it for Americans??

I suppose the publishers just thought Americans were too stupid to convert British slang...? All English speaking countries (from Jamaica to Australia) have different dialects and slang.
