this version of this song was like the anthem of last summer- the game had just come out and I was playing the hell out of the campaign and that stupid lost viking arcade game. They put a lot of time and effort into that game, and I'm glad it came out as well as it did.

Taken purely as individual songs in their own right, this version is clearly inferior to the original by Lynyrd Skynyrd. However, in the context of Starcraft 2, this more countrified version works really well. I don't think the original would fit as well to be honest. Just watch the cutscene where Jim Raynor is drowning his sorrows in the cantina while the opening chords of this play in the background. It is just perfect.

But I listened to it more and you know what I like this version actually. I liked Sweet Home Alabama in SC2, but I don't like Freebird because of the way he sings the lyrics (they changed the rhythm), the guitar solo sounds very different and you can hear the singer say "awoo! awoo! awoooooooo a-a- awoooo!!!", at least in Sweet Homd Alabama it sounds similar
