This is on purpose,they know what spike said,it is a purposeful targeted slight, against spike who makes meaningful movies and triggers real emotions about meaningful situations including in movies and real life.They want to do what ever they can,to keep whites from supporting his movies,and this is the purpose.They don't want his movies,in the market place,Tyler Perry is their Lap dog now,when he's not in a dress,he plays to all their steriotype's about black women.

I'm a white Catholic. I agree with Spike most of the time. Even, If I made a movie about the Southwest side of Chicago, where I'm from. The Hollywood I know and have worked in for some time, would get it all wrong (not that they'd ever be interested). Spike is right and wrong. Not only does Hollywood not know black people, they don't know most white people either. Hollywood only knows itself, barely.

Be he is way overboard a lot of the time. He talks shit ALL THE TIME about studios, white directors, and so on.. And how they are putting African Americans down.

There was no problem with what Spike said. In fact, I wouldn't even call it a rant. At no point did he appear to be mad or "going off" on anyone. And he did not attack white people at all anywhere in it. You are absolutely right about media outlets putting their own spin on it and not providing a video to go with it. So much information is conveyed not just by what words someone says, but by how those words are said. Tone of voice. It's why I tend not to comment on things very much.

@lunarf And what's really sad is that so many people just took what those media outlets said at face value without looking up the video and watching it for themselves before making up their minds and sharing their opinions. sad simple fact is that hollywood markets to a larger white audience. thus it makes films with us either in the ghetto, cooning, begging for freedom or being saved by white jesus heros...hollywood will never green light a film about REAL ancient egypt, ancient moors, ancient wagadu, mali, songhai, sundiata keita, askia the great, coromantee, maroons etc...

i must say , in spikes defense, that hollywood comes out with alot of rubbish which we in europe are forced to watch.i saw a spike lee movie along time ago in the 90's.whatever.also the italian movies are all very similar....very conformist.cheaper ,independant movies are often better.
