  • Both the pathos hidden behind the composition of Khayyam and of the poetry and the storyline brings tears in my eyes whenever I listen to/watch this song. Above all the Sarangi effects and wonderful acting by Rekha make this song an ever living one; a master piece.

  • umrao jan:= rekha and ash like sky and earth, so difference. no one can challenge rekha yet.

  • a beautifull composition i guess dis song best describe rekha's real life as well she had such a disturbing childhood without a father started workin at the age of 13 n den ofcourse LOVE & CARE the only things she ever craved buh sadly cudnt achieve not a happy marriage n amitabh as well left her for his own priorities poor woman i feel so sad for her buh a great actor indeed a true diva in all sense .

  • This one song of this movie is enough to see Rekha's acting prowess. If Asha ji has sung it excellently, portrayal of the pathos of a courtesan who has lost her family in a very young age is depicted so well in this song that I dont have words to explain. Actually it appears though that Rekha has actually sunk into her own personal life. She has never spoken even once to her father Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and was deprived of fatherly love and affection. I lover her very much. Luv u Rekha ji.

  • Rekha ji, i can die for you. I dono wot's wrong with the world and especially the Bollywood indusrty ,why cant they understand the value of THIS...??? Out of the world. they can't ever make the films like this....may God give you a Loooooong life.

  • Mere Liye Bhi Koi Udaas Beqaraar hei.......

  • this is very pretty ,thanks for this vid, its amazing, its like the fairy tales, but thanks to India this is real,a wonderfull cradle of culture, with love from Mexico.

  • Its true urdu.Old Indian Songs were written by using Urdu. Now Indian movie songs use a little bit of Hindi words as well.Shehryar n Khayyam did wat Shakeel n Naushad used to do in old days.

  • Khayyamji was the 1st one to bring ghazal culture in the bollywood movies i guess...

    sharyar's lyrics, ashaji's voice n rekhaji's acting....awesome..

despite being a youth i cud say that its sad that we r growing up in a time whr "aahoon-aahoon" n "ooooo hoozoor" songs are getting popular..

  • awesome!! khayaam saab jawaab nahi aapka!!!

  • This song always leaves me teary-eyed even though I've listened to it and watched the film tens of times! Umrao and her mother's reunions is so cruelly brief...oh no! I need a kleenex again! :P

  • Bhaut Achha Mere Dost,Thanks.

  • tamaam umer ka hisaab maangti hai zindagi

ye mera dil kahay to kia k khud se sharmsaar hai...

hhmm, ye kia jagah hai dosto.....

  • ye kis muqaam par hayaat muj ko lekar aagai

na bas khushi pe hai jahaan na gham pe ikhtiyaar hai..

  • asha's voice and rekha's acting=pure perfection :)))

  • old is gold

  • Bula Raha Hei Kon Mujhko Chilmano ke Us Taraf.....

Mere Liye Bhi Kia Koi Udaas , Beqaraar he......

  • wah. mazaa aagaya. thx for uploading this song.

  • ......HADD-E-NIGHAH TAK JAHAN GHUBAAR HI GHUBAAR HEI.........A heart crushing GHAZAL......by Asha ji and Lazwal performance by Rekh........

  • i need my past but nothing is passable i know it very well :-(

  • A sweet yet heartrending song from a fabulous lyricist,a fabulous MD, and a fabulous singer-- part of a cascade of superb ghazals that follows the viewer-listener throughout the movie, with deeply touching acting by the equally fabulous Rekha.Thanks,demonfromsky.

  • Superb composition by Khayyam, brilliant rendition by Asha.

  • what a classic master piece. No one else can perform how Rekha did justice to her charecter. Excellent poerty. You can feel the pain. Flawless acting. The new Umrao jan stinks. Ashwaaryia roy acted like a pice of crap in the new Umrao Jan.
