Well the criminologists will tell you that about 15 years after Roe V Wade the crime rate dropped for no apparent reason. Unwanted kids grow up to be sociopathic teenagers and adults, a significant source of criminal activity in the US.

Roe V Wade saw the immedate drop in another important statistic: Female suicides.

So you just stay the hell away from policymaking now, thank you.

However, correlation is not causation and it would show a statistical illiteracy to claim that Roe v. Wade can in any way be causally linked to either of those phenomenon you mentioned. Crimes rates and female suicide did not drop because of abortion.-

@ndrthrdr1 Based an article written by a criminologist named James Alan Fox. I'll private message you the link. Basically, there was a decrease in crime but it took place in the wrong age group. But in any case, the notion that abortion reduced crime rates comes from an article which has sense been (repeatedly) debunked. In fact, some evidence suggest abortion increases crime rates because men supporting children are less likely to commit crime. All links provided via PM.

Better job opportunities and increased income translates to happier, less crime/suicide prone people. Additionally, Poland's crime rates as well as its maternal death rates, breast cancer rates, and miscarriage rates all went down following the ban of abortion. If our obligation to prevent crime/suicide supersedes our obligation to uphold individual rights, we could accomplish the same thing by implementing mandatory sterilization and accomplish the same goal only to a greater degree. But that's not the case. Individual rights are more important. So if the fetus has rights, crimes rates are irrelevant.

On the other hand, if it does have a right to life the fact that its mother doesn't want it doesn't invalidated that right any more than it would invalidated the right of any other child. In the case of Norma McCorvey, she also claims to have conveniently stopped being gay when she turned prolife. I'm sorry, but I just find that coincidence a bit to astronomical. Alright guys, you know the drill! What are your thoughts? Personally, I doubt she is sincere in her Catholicism. I think that’s part of the rhetorical image she chose as a prolife advocate (and an unfortunate decision,) but I also think her opinion is based on emotion not reason.
