This guy is working in fort Nelson bc pipelining, I seen him get beat up at dans pub last night then he kicked some young kid off his bike outside and got arrested. Looks like he is heavy on the party
@bruizer1100 He's still not fat , losers, he's working and living his life, instead of taking dumb ass comments from losers that couldn't do what he did for a career
Probert didn't lose many, and he didn't lose this one (draw), but getting hammered by a rookie... says something about both of them. Just wonder what the result would have been if either of these guys had gone toe-to-toe with Behn "I forgot to take my Thorazine!" Wilson.
@bbmtge Well you obviously don't know much about hockey, because Probert used to take off or "lose" his jersey all the time, a HUGE advantage when you're fighting in hockey. The NHL made guys tie their jerseys down a few years ago, so they obviously knew this, too
@bbmtge Uh, you're the one who should try "phonics", Einstein, because as anybody who ever graduated from Junior High School knows, you NEVER end a sentence with a preposition!! (I.e. "of") So you may want to go ahead and "check yourself" before giving English lessons to somebody else. :)
@jscottrockford So let's divert from the original point as you realize you lost. Further, the comment is an expression and thus, your attempt to parse is incorrect. Nice try, retard.
@bbmtge Whatever moron. The NHL MADE guys who fight--i.e. Probert, Rob Ray, etc.--tie down their jerseys a few years ago, as they knew it was an advantage to "dis-robe" during a fight. This is a FACT, idiot, so check your rule book and actually play the game before you comment on something you obviously know nothing about, you clown. Because if you don't think it's an advantage to not have your jersey or equipment on during a hockey fight, you're an even bigger jack-off than I thought
@jscottrockford This is too funny. My comment was based, solely, on the absurdity of your comment. Not only do you make a complete fool of youself...AGAIN...with your attempt at grammar; you go on and on about the tie-down rule. Now, to address your blindness; Probie's jersey did not come off until the very end of the fight. Losing "half" of your jersey actually places one at a distinct disadvantage. Please keep writing. It's fun to see idiots make bigger idots of themselves.LOLOLOL!!!
@bbmtge Well obviously you're the idiot, because if you knew anything about hockey--which you obviously don't --you'd know that Probert's jersey used to come off a VERY large percentage of the time when he fought.......not just in this one. Coincidence? Pop open another Keystone Light, clean the nacho cheese stain off of your wife-beater tank top, head back down into your parent's basement, and leave the hockey discussions for the big boys who know what the F**K we're talking about, you dip-shit
@jscottrockford This was never the discussion. How long have you had ADD??? Keep up the tough act in the computer, bitch. Man, you are beyond STUPID. Also, keep up the tough bitch act in the computer. Outside of it, you are a true pussy bitch!!!
gotta disagree with that justice008a fella, lets be serious here, playfair was good yes ill say that no problem but was closely but regardless beaten by mcsorley who probert would go on to have a long fight with in which he won by a huge amount, its 100% reasonable to say bob probert was the greatest fighter of all time simply for his wins over the best of the best, his fight list is a who's who of the nhl's tough guys and hes beaten most of them, so fuck yeah probert all the way
@TylerHarry2009 Probert will always be #1 , a few loses , many many wins , and no show boating. The last of the true warriors .We will never see anyone like him again . RIP
For a guy who is arguably the best fighter in NHL history, Probert lost his jersey WAY too much. He and Rob Ray were responsible for the league eventually mandating the "tie down" rule
....have you ever tried to punch with hockey equipment on? very difficult. Probert's equipment was never laced all the way up so it would come off easy in a fight
you guys worry too much about analyzing who "won". just respect the fact that these guys do this for a living. do you know how much courage it takes to do this for a living? no because none of you with the exception of maybe 10 have ever dropped the gloves. stop analyzing so goddam much and give these guys the respect they deserve!
@mittsauce21 Umm I'm a purple belt in BJJ. And I did TKD for two years. I had my sinus wall fractured with a straight right and was back in class sparring 4 days later. And yeah it is a tough job being a hockey enforcer.
@mittsauce21 Great way to put it. I agree 100%. I used to play against a guy that fought more than anyone in the leauge and he got the shit kicked out of him every fight....it never stopped him from coming back. I don't know anyone that was more valuable to their team or more respected.
Greatest fighter the NHL has ever known. And, I was lucky to grow up watching him beat the shit out of every and I mean EVERY guy that was stupid enough to think they could take him on. The only guy that could hold a candle to Probie was Tie Domi in the early 90s. The NHL of the 80s ruled. Tons of goals, shit loads of fights- no teams in lame ass cities like Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix or any other place like that, where the fans don't know the difference between a power play and slap shot.
@Love4SK it was hilarous in the first fight in toronto.watching wendell looking like he was ready to perform fellatio on probert when he was beaten down.
@5stringofFernandoSor Word. Hockey is such a pussy sport now. That's why I got into MMA in the early 90's. Hockey will never have the spirit or rivalries like it did in the 70's and 80's: Tor-Det, Det-StL, Mon-Bos, Bos-Hrt, Phi-NJ, NYR-NYI, Cal-Edm etc etc. Good old days.
@malteserule I don't think they had as many fights as the ones I mentioned did they? And it also hadn't been brewing for as long as those others either.
@5stringofFernandoSor C'mon man get serious, don't start this greatest fighter stuff unless you're talking about Larry Playfair or Behn Wilson, because the discussion ends there. Probert is perhaps #5; I'd rank both Gillies and Dave Brown ahead of him too. That reference to Domi really gets under my skin. Nobody outside of Toronto even considers Domi in the top 200 all-time. And don't start with the pound for pound stuff either. Jonathan, Holt, Bridgeman, or Ruskowski would destroy Dummy
@5stringofFernandoSor ALMOST every bit of this is true; you're right, those were the days....BUT you forgot about Wendel Clark! I recall the farm boy from Saskatchewan winning a close one over the heavyweight from Harvard and giving him a good go on many other occassions! Not to take anything away from the NHL's greatest fighter Mr. Probert (RIP) but Wendel always deserves a nod!
@bbmtge Probert put the work to Wendel their first fight, no arguement.....I'd say 17 won the tilt on Dec. 27, '86 and tied, maybe even edged both rounds on Dec. 9, '92!
This is one of the all time classics.Remember espn showing this. Its to bad what happened to Gaetz, him and Probert would of had many more throw downs like this. That sucks!!
Link Gaetz was a bad MOFO on the ice and off. That was the toughest SOB to ever don the teal. Linkster will forever be my favorite Shark. I remember in 95 when he ended up on the Sacramento River Rats of the RHI. Link on rollerblades, now that was worth the price of admission alone!!!
@olsen7727 = That was in 91-92 actually, the inagural season for the Sharks when they played at the Cow Palace .. despite all those PIMs he also managed to get all 6 of his NHL goals that season.
"the broken link" was as tough as they come. 2 bad he didnt stick around long enough. he actually got kicked off of a semi-pro team cuz he left the game before the 1st intermission to get a hot dog
God I miss Sportschannel America, I was 15 watching this at 1130pm in New York. They'd always show Sharks and Kings games, I remember me and my brother trying to keep quiet while watching this fight. probert is a punk? that's totally ridiculous link just had the best fight of his career and gave the bobfather more than he expected... this is obviously a draw anyways
Probert was a great fighter. However, you can't win them all. This one I don't think there was a winner. General rule of thumb is whoever goes down first loses.
Link is living in a trailer now, playing hockey at night and getting tossed in holding cells even later at night. It is a sad story, but do whatever you want with your talents and repeated oppourtunities to shine... Did Link even throw a punch in this fight?
Ah the Cow Palace. All that's missing in this is watching Doug Zmolek (aka the human punching bag) get worked. Sad that Gaetz had that drinking problem and accident. He could have been one of the greats. Oh, and Probert hardly won that fight, sorry folks.
Forgive my ignorance but I'm English. I thought the ref couldn't break up the fight until one of their knees hit the floor. Please explain. Thanks.
