  • my god that is scary and looks ungodly painfull how long did it take doctors to find out that was the problem?

  • did you just puncture a hole in one of the kidneys?

  • Wait so would a jack stone or another large stone even be able to pass. Or would the pain be to much even before there would be a possibility of passing it?

  • Far too many stones. This individual is lucky to have survived long enough to have had this operation

  • That is a pretty amazing amount of stones. But wouldn't some kind of suction instrument be more effective on clearing out the smaller stones quickly?

  • Is kidney function impaired due to this type of procedure? Secondly, wouldn't vibratory waves (I can't think of the exact terminology) work for this patient? I understand that these types of waves can break down gall bladder stones (or maybe they break down easier because they are bile and not a concentrate of Ca, etc) without invasive procedure.

  • Wow, My dad has 3, he peed them out and said it was PAINFUL, This is crazy cool though. I'm eating fried chicken while watching this lol :-D

  • Now I want to play hungry hungry hippos.

  • A single tiny stone is absolute agony. How could he have stood this? They must have been in there for quite some time. Absolutely incredible. Also, the laparoscope seems to do lots of ripping and tearing to the kidney but I guess it's magnified quite a bit

  • cool video

  • After watching this....Im going to make water my best friend ;P

  • NOM NOM NOM Clipper says :D

  • That must hurt like hell

  • I want to remove those!!

  • Imagine it was the old days when nothing can be done lol

  • I have cystinuria.. watching this gives me an idea of what I go through each time.

  • Imagine pissing these out..

  • am I the only one that thought of Hungry Hungry Hippos when he started pulling those stones out?

  • OMG- I almost passed out!!!

  • Umm how do you get stones in your kidney?

  • @TheWoWBane Not enough water. The minerals in your urine can solidify.

  • So how many stones does this guy weigh?

  • is this guy eating gravel or what

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOh my gaaaaaaaad, that's insannnnnne. I'm normally fine with watching surgeries, but seeing those stones which, to me, looked just unnatural, literally made me queeeeeeeasy........that was too much.

  • After seeing this video, I have to say that water is my friend. Drinking boatloads of it a day is a wonderful thing. I NEVER want to go through this!

  • how can u be sure that u didn't miss any stones ?

  • very educational and interesting

  • Wow. I thought I'd be seeing a single stone. Damn.

  • that person must have been in serious pain-thank god you got them out.

  • how big was the jack stone that was removed from the patient?

  • om jesus

serious this guy must be dealing with a shit load of pain

  • Holy chip!!!

  • That poor kidney :( Makes me want to take a lot better care of my body....

  • with so many stones, i would stick a vacuum in it and suck it all out. quick and effective.

  • What the hell did this person live on? Soda??

  • Were *both* kidneys this full of stones on this particular patient, or just one?

  • @ladylejean215 just one kidney full of stones

  • Cannot pick my chin up off the floor!

  • that looks like it hurt

  • I bet this patient had a much easier time passing urine after this. But I'd hate to imagine what his diet was like, to have all these bloody stones.

  • Oddly enough this was one of the most intriguing videos i've ever watched. Now, here's a question for you BrianGolde. Was this an abnormal kidney stone scenario? I thought when someone had a kidney stone, they just had one that eventually passed. This looks like a super serious and almost deadly collection of stones you're raking out of this person, i mean they just kept comin' and comin'. What truly causes this?

  • @bmcgann17 this is how my kidney are,i have msk, medullary sponge kidney,i scared but can't wait to get rid of some of mine, you are born with msk!i pass stones some times daily :( life sucks for me :(

  • @happywombatproducts i should stop drinking monsters haha

  • @gmertag Lmfao, I have a kidney stone right now and it fucking hurts, but guess what? I am drinking a monster at this very moment :)

  • @happywombatproducts yeah no doubt haha

  • HOW DO YOU GET THEM

  • Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember quite a few years back (maybe 2 decades or so) there was a lot of talk about using ultrasonic waves to smash apart stones in the body (thus eliminating the need for surgery). Has there been any further development in that area, or has it been deemed not practical?

  • @cashcleaner Correcting you. Shockwave lithotripsy is the use of focused sound waves (not ultrasonic waves). It is effective for treating relatively small stones, but is not useful for treating a large stone burden, as in this case.

  • @briangoldenmd

    Ahhhhhh, thanks for the info!

  • why were there so many?

  • OMG! The stones look huge! I thought you would just be able to urinate it out !

  • what do you guys do with the stones?

  • @unsafe12345 If they're uniform in size, we polish them and make a bracelet or, in this case, a double-stranded necklace for the patient.

j/k Truth is that anything removed from a patient goes to the pathology department for identification. Stones are sent for chemical analysis.

  • i bet this person did cartwheels after the surgery.

  • 4:16 I can hear the doctor going "Oh for the love of christ...."

  • wtf??? one is enough to make you scream in agony, how was this guy not doubled over, vomiting and blacking out every three seconds?

  • If this person had all these stones, was he or she in constant pain for years? or was it gradual what are the signs for the rest of us....and how do we get checked out without having to dig in, and have a looksee?

  • dam there small one nd big one that must be really pain full

  • Yea how the hell doyou stop yourself getting Kidney Stones????????????

  • Holy SHIT that was a ton of stones. daaaaaamnnnnnn

  • Are the Chilean miners in there too?? damn!!

  • how can any patient survive with such many stones?

is it possible....plz tell me in detail............

  • water + a handful of salt + ignorance + stupidity + do it everyday = bunch of kidney stones...

  • LOL! omg! that freaking scary!!!!!!!

  • Those are bolders

  • how do they form like that.???

  • im sorry to say bit wasnt this easyr using vacum

  • would he be under anistia??? HOWEVER YOU SPELL IT

  • ohhh my god it is like some living being layed eggs of kidney stones there how many stones just can't believe it how can a person live with so many stones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Those stone are smooth, mine were like fucking coral reef.

  • @saginPhx once they dry up they look bad , but when they were removed most likly they were smooth ..

  • it's like the stones had babies in there

  • that is insane!

  • so thats how the stones looks like

  • Great vid! How many stones were removed?

  • @sfranklin0440 The exact number was hard to say, since a bunch of it was really small stuff. It was the most stones I've ever seen, something around 100 stones.

  • oh my goodness! how wear you able to function with that many stones in your kidney?!?!

  • Great video! I saw this and then decided I would make kidney stones the topic of my paper for Anatomy and Physiology. Thank you so much for sharing this and providing my inspiration to know more about them! :)

  • @TheB3553485 The song is "Stone Flower" by Santana.

  • i dont think this is the kidney. mom had her bile stones done this way. i have kidney stones and they look waaay not like this :S its impossible that someone could have so much in his kidney .. i think its the bile

  • @xxdinaliciousxx Yeah, thanks for the comment. I'm pretty certain it was the kidney I was operating on! :) FYI, a kidney can become completely filled with stone, much like a plaster of paris cast filling all available space.

  • How the hell does a person get that many kidney stones? That is insane. Most people have 1-3. This guy has a rock garden in there.

  • so that what those things look like inside of me those things are painful

  • how do u get kidney stones forgot

  • that was just insane, how did he get to have that many stones??

  • Not even santana could make this better smh

  • I guarantee if that person had tried to pass all of those they would've been swinging from the ceiling before they got through half of them.

  • man I always find it weird that the body can make rocks

  • Doctor Briand Gold, you are doing a great job by posting this kind of video

I feel bad by the fact that some viewers can even live a comment with out using a vulgar laguage I have so much respect for you and for what you do ,and all those years of study that you had to go through

  • All I could think of was that metal scoop going, "nom nom nom."

  • For the love of god, drink a glass of water!

  • OH JESUS

  • Doctor vs stone Doctor wins! Lol

  • My teacher showed those to me as she was going to have this operation tomorrow lol

  • the doctor should've used a shovel. damn. that's so many

  • If there is a god at 2:32 that is one of the ways that he is trying to kill you.

  • this will have a million views in no time, that shit makes your skin crawl.

  • @RaidersFan2469 This song was chosen for its name, "Stone Flower."

  • @BrianGolde Thanks for the reply:

First you know I wasn't trying to insult your video right? I love the reason that you chose this song but at the same time you can see how it's somewhat.. different for music you'd hear over a video of kidney stones being extracted? Lol.

You, sir, are... something else. I'd like to shake your hand.

Were you involved in this procedure? Or are you simply the video uploader?

    Thanks again fella'.

  • @RaidersFan2469 Yes, this was my procedure, as well as video edit. If you have an idea, I'm open to suggestions for future nephrolithotomy soundtracks.

  • that's fucking ridiculous

  • This person's got a goddam quarry in their kidney.

  • @ThisguyQuake HAD A QUARRY. Now he is stone-free!

  • @ThisguyQuake **HAD** A QUARRY! THE MINERALS WERE QUICKLY DEPLETED BY AGGRESSIVE STRIP MINING.

  • Wish this person would enjoy his/her sexsual life

  • omg you can build a building with this

  • I can not believe a person was really living with all that stone build up in their kidney!
