There isn't the infastructure for hydrogen fuel cell or hydrogen combustion vehicles, and there won't be for a very long time. So lets stop spending so much energy on them, and lets build more plugin hybrids eh? Cause you know, BMW doesn't offer a single one.

For the US market, the 335d gets excellent gas mileage :)
Also, MPG depends much more on driving style than the actual mechanics. My Porsche 911 S gets around 25 mpg.
