After their first three albums I lost interest, my tastes changed , that's all...but, I heard Love Etc. on jimmy Fallon and an obsession has started brewing, this album is fantastic, all these years later, I love Pet Shop Boys again...who knew. Neil Tennant's voice on this album is amazing, really quite beautiful.
Are there people, who like such bands like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, A-ha, Modern Talking, Roxette, Bryan Adams, Robbie Williams, Enrique Iglesias, Falco, Kylie Minogue?
Well,I love Pet Shop Boys(absolute addiction)and I really like Depeche Mode,A-ha,Modern Talking,Robbie Williams and Kylie :) And maybe Falco,I only have listened to his Rock Me Amadeus song.
I listen to Pet Shop Boys and very little else. Used to listen to Aha, I also like Franz Ferdinand. I liked 'Tainted Love' though I think that the original is the best. I like a few of the Gorillaz tracks, I like 'Can't get you out of my head', 'Bus stop (hollies), 'Tired of being sorry', 'California dreaming' (Mamas and Papas), Phil Colins, and some of foreigner. But mostly Pet Shop Boys. Their songs never get old.
Truly a great album - they are great at pop, wasn't keen on the soviet references in the past. This is just great. Truly great talent and faithful / dedicated and prolific. "the way it used to be" "love etc" "king of rome" "vulnerable"...... can't keep saying it - genius and thanks PSB. What a presence!
"The King Of Rome" brings tears to my eyes, literally. The way Neil sings: "baby call me"/"baby come back to me" is so moving and perfect from a production standpoint. The lyrics are brilliant, too. I concur that in 10-15 years, we will all look back at Yes & consider it one of their best. Somewhere in their top 3 would be my prediction.
Right now, Yes sounds better to me than even Actually or Very. I know, blasphemy. However, I can only hope that Yes sounds as timeless as those other two gems... if Yes still sounds as amazing as it does now, 10-15 years from now, we'll not only be remembering Yes as their very best, but that we were all digging one of the greatest acts of the 20/21st century while they were at their peak.
oh wow! thank you! To me, Yes is a perfect album! Since it's out, i'm listening to my complete psb collection of all psb's songs in my car and i say to myself "What a wonderful band" ;) If you did not buy Yes yet, you HAVE to go buy it. It's one of their best, if not the best.
PSB are one of the very little groups, there have an ulterior motive in his songs! And this from the beginning of there career! I must say it i love the music and his words since 17 years! The boys are in my soul and heart!
What was edited out? What would be very interesting. Especially the "It felt like a good match" which was sort of dropped into the Brian Higgins commentary.
I hope you records more like this because it is great to see you in the studio. This album is really good! I dont understand the song PJ from popjustice didnt like because i find all of them very good! More than a dream is just fabolous to be the second single. If Stuart Price will do some remixes it will be totally orgasmic and David Morales also can do a great remix, it have parts which remember me the energy of New York City Boy.
So... Love, etc was always planned to be the first single, I am wondering if that is part of the deal with Xenomania. And did you Boys not totally agreed to this arrangement?

It really was cringe-worthy to work with the number one Hit-maker and doing it 'their-way" wasn't it, Neil? ;-)
