  • You should really cut those relaxed ends if you want length you will never achieve that with those "fried" ends. They continue to break off as your hair grows form the root. There is not that much to trim off and your hair will be a lot healthier too.

  • @luana913 You should really not be telling me what to do with MY hair. This video is 2 years old. You're commenting like it was made yesterday, and assuming that I don't know the risks involved with relaxed hair ends. Watch the second video.

  • Turned out nice...Good job!

  • happy YouTube(ing) lol...

  • whaat degrees did u have it on

  • you did a great job thanks for the info, it really helped

  • @lavilada That's all I ever wanted to do. Thank YOU.

  • cute! And I had no idea your hair was that long till you flatironed it

  • @TurnTheWorldAroundTV Ponytail in the beginning of the vid, sorry to confuse.

  • I'm gonna have to try this. I get movement but not shine. o.O

  • I just wanted to ask, how often do you flat iron your hair? :) xx

  • @118118Lola Every time I wash it, if I'm going for the straight look, which is 90% of the time.

  • you r so pretty

  • @Afrikaisi731 thanks.

  • this was very helpful

  • @xXTrakkStarrXx Always the greatest compliment I can receive. Thank you.

  • Thank you, I went natural 15 yrs ago, and I like that there is something other than braiding and twisting my hair. I will definitely try this thank you.

  • @AHSAIYUKI Isn't having so many hair options, wonderful? I love it!

15 years?! Goodness gracious! Oh, how I wish I had went natural that long ago! My hair would be way down my back! :D

  • Hi! Just watched your video. How often do you flat iron your hair? I'm thinking about growing out my relaxer, but love the straight hair look!

  • aw your cute and pretty! : )

  • cool i like that :)

  • you may as well just get it relaxed instead of spending hours straightening it

  • @emiliabrown15 I'm sorry, where are you getting your information from? I'm pretty sure MY video says nothing about "spending hours straightening" my hair. It takes me less than 15 mins to blow dry, and no more than 40 mins to flat iron, which is about the same time it took me when I was relaxing. Or did you not know that most ppl that relax their hair still have to blow dry and flat iron to get the desired straight look?

  • @SuperHotChocolate thanks for the tutorial it helped just bought a straightner after 3 years of braiding my hair and i wanted to know what helps protect hair from heat and better wats to straighten hair.

    thanks again :)

  • question is there anyway to keep the hair from going back to a puff ball after sweating???

  • Your so goofy in an innocent way and its so cute :-)

  • i want u to know that your hair just blown dry is beautiful!

  • What kind of flat iron do you use?

  • Your hair looks really nice... I'm relaxed and 9wks post relaxer right now. I'm thinking about going natural, but not sure yet.... Others have asked, but I haven't located your answer, how long does this last you? and what happens if it's humid out or if you sweat? does it immediately revert? Thanks

  • @nsneed7 It lasts until I wash it again, a week or sometimes longer, or until I get caught in the rain. use your comps 'find' feature to search this page for :coconut oil, or olive oil, or humidity, for your humidity answer.

  • you're pretty without glasses :]

  • @TheBlahblah135 Thanks, but I don't wear the glasses to try to improve my appearance, they're prescription.

  • @SuperHotChocolate lmao!!! that was kind of rude btw

  • @l0vey0u1 Yeah, I know. It's like when people randomly meet movie stars and tell them that they look better in person. So rude without even realizing it! Dumb asses.

  • omg!!! this was sooo helpful!! i am terrified to touch my hair because it is extreme thickness and length so i just put it in a weave but i really want to know how to do my own natural hair by myself without getting a relaxer or going to the beauty shop. what type of shampoo and or conditioner do you use in your hair?

  • it difinately doesnt look like it was in a ponytail o.e

  • you go girl, I love it.

  • you made me go natural :)

  • Your hair looks good but the next time you flat iron it you should use a smaller tooth comb and put it in your hair as a guide and follow the flat iron behind it. This will grab all the little fly away hairs and pull them straighter so you will get a silkier finish.

  • @Gen321100 Did you get that idea from MY second video?

  • A good way to get the same results without the risk of heat damage is by using curlers. I know...I didn't believe it either but go watch taren916. She does it and it looks amazing! You'd never believe that she didnt use heat. I think she stopped the heat due to some heat damage issues.

  • @411blah411 Please share the link to the vid showing her roller set her natural curly hair to straighten it. The only vid I could find of her using a roller set was on a hair weave.

  • @SuperHotChocolate Straight Hair.....Oh! and I need your help :)

That's the title of the video. It's not a tutorial tho. She gets it done at a salon because she says that she couldn't get the tension that she wanted. She also says she doesn't like it due to the length but I disagree. I think she looks great.

  • @411blah411 Ok, sorry to repeat myself, but I asked for the video that shows her roller setting her natural curly hair to straighten it. She says in the video that she got it done, which means that she didn't do it herself. Can you please give me the link to the video that shows her doing it herself not a video of her talking about getting it done by a pro? Thanks.

  • im glad i came across this video.. we have the same hair type

  • i like this, your hair looked good:)

  • Cute look like you put a relaxer on it :)

  • Great Video. Thanks for the help!

  • well excuuuuse me , it didn't look like it was in a ponytail..

  • ur hair looked alot longer then it did from when it was flat ironed and im not a big fan of curls usually i just flat iron and stuff but im not a big fan of curls

  • thanks for that oil tip, currently loving how it lock in the moisture when I'm rockin the curls, but will definitely be doing w/o it when I straighten :)

  • you do a great job with your flat iron. but maybe the FHI would be a better investment i use it in my natural hair i dont have to tug which can prevent breaking

  • Very pretty!

  • What do you put on your hair after the wash or before the serum?

  • HELLO, WHERE YOU GET THE DRY WITH BRUSH?? PLEASE RESPOND

  • my hair is all natural and i have the kinkiest texture. i get my hair really straight. most people think my hair is relaxed when i flat iron. it's my techniques and knowledge of hair. i can't really explain it all in the comments, but if you would like to know, just leave me a message or comment. your hair came out nice by the way.

  • you are so pretty with the curly and straight hair. how good is that iron?

  • oh thank u for sharing.... plus u look so pretty!!! loool but how long does it stay straight for after you have straigtened it???

  • Erm... I havent relaxed my hair in going on 5 years now and when I straighten my hair it's still puffy but more settled... Then again my hair is an actual FULL FRO so this video dosen't really help significantly with me and others in my situation because your "natural hair" isn't in that stubborn stage yet (It's prolly gettin' there tho'). Anywhoo... Your hairs lovely still and nice vid =]

  • @SheThaBoss This video was created to share information with whoever it might help. I can not change my hair type, and I have no plans to seek out a person with a different hair type to make a separate video.

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO!! This was extremely well done all around! I've been looking all over for a technique that works well, yet is relatively simple and inexpensive. You knocked it out of the park with this video, m'dear! You're a natural in front of the camera, too! I've seen several excellent "how-to's", but this is the method that I'm going with for now...and this will be my first attempt at flat ironing my natural hair! Thanks again, sis! Peace and blessings to you! :o)

  • Thank you for sharing. I just combed out all of my dreads and would like to continue on my natural journey. I had dreads for 8 1/2 years and I don't really remember how to do my hair...:)

  • nice vid.

  • Whats the use of going natural and then try to look like you have a perm. I don't get it!!!!

  • @Soundevant Google search the topic. Your answers will not be found in this video. Try reading the titles of videos before watching them. Save yourself some time.

  • WoWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • how do u keep it from puffing up (reverting) thruout the day?

  • @BLink2fu Oil. Coconut or Olive. very very small amount. (Please do a word search on this page for Coconut and/or Olive. I've answered this question more than a few times throughout this page.)

  • u r pretty

  • why does ur hair look so short in the beginiing...before wetting it... and so long after the blow dry

  • @Ladroc12 Google search: Ponytail.

  • Umm, what is she talking about with the, "Don't worry about curling your hair, straighten it." Well, most people don't like a lot of heat on their hair. That would be blow drying, flat ironing, and curling. That's insane. It's easier just to curl it with the flat iron. Then blow drying it wish that brush? That's pulling out a lot of your hair. Crazy! However, the end result did look nice. Good job, I guess.

  • @mrspresidentb Uhm, who are you talking to when you say "what is she talking about..", cuz this is my page, and I'm the only one here. To answer your question tho: Ask the PROS why they straighten first, and then curl, when creating curly styles. Ask the PROS why they would do something so insane.

  • @SuperHotChocolate I don't need to, because the woman that does my hair does not burn it out. She doesn't flat iron my hair THEN go back and curl it, she curls it with the flat iron. That way you are eliminating some the heat. I'm all about healthy hair! Also, answering my question would not be telling me to ask someone else, it would be giving me an answer. Thanks, though!

  • @mrspresidentb Asking you to ask a professional is an answer. There's a reason why professionals have certification for what they do. But if you get diagnosed with cancer and ask me what you should do, I'll be sure to tell you to eat garbage instead of telling you to talk to a doctor next time. You're welcome.

  • super nice

  • NICE VID...((SASSY SWAG SILK HAIR WRAPS ARE THE KEWLEST)))

    WATCH ME ....GOD BLESS

  • your Hair Is beautiful!!! I'm a college student, and I have a short cut/layered hair-style w/ relaxed hair and just decided to cut it because my hair wasn't growin as long luscious and thick as i wanted to. So I went with the short chic hairstyle to keep a healthy look. But once everything is stable w/ me, after I graduate preferably I am definetely going natural. as i see it tkes no time 2 grow hair when natural and Im ready for the long natural or hott curly look. Thank you

  • I love your length : D you have pretty hair ! How long does it take you to flat iron ?

  • @Kazouchan Thanks. about 40 minutes.

  • @bbnne1 (cont) And when I wear my hair straight, it's just kinda in the background. It doesn't upstage me.

  • @bbnne1 I didn't say 'compliments", said "attention". My natural texture gets way too much attention, and ppl want to talk about it like it's a new born baby or something! I know alot of women are flattered when someone notices their hair, or their new shoes, or their new outfit. I've always found such compliments rather silly, because anybody can go out and buy the exact same thing! I'd much rather get a simple "YOU look nice/great!" as opposed to somebody complimenting my accessories.

  • Your hair grew fast in 13 months. It took me 13 years to get that length. D:

  • how high is your flat iron, when i flat iron my hair its shiny and straight at first i do about a medium but then once i get done with that section it seems to not stay straight by the time i finish the rest of my hair. I hate the idea of getting a perm but i want my hair straight at least for one day .

  • im from sweden and my hair is just like your hair. Here no one can anything about flat ironing so this video was GREAT for me!

    thank u soo much!

  • I love how bouncy your hair is =] after straightening, mine doesn't bounce or move very much like yours (i've failed the fan test), I think its because of my split ends though.

  • Love watching these vids, puts me in a relaxing state of mind. You hair looks fabulous!

  • I must admit. I love my relaxed hair...but I have nothing agaisnt natural hair. but I love all the points people made on how everyone should do their own thing. Btw...love your hair

  • thank you soooooooooooooo much for your help and for the cantu serum and the silk and shine serum, thank you and you are a fabulous Teacher, thank you

  • What degrees did u have ur flat iron at??

  • i have never had a perm.when my hair gets pressed..the next day it back poofy!UGH

  • Do you only use serums when detangling your hair?

  • @shelisiawoodard Check out my follow-up vid

  • What temperature do you use on your flat iron

  • @SuperHotChocolate PT.2 And I think its even more sad that, after some women realize the damaging effects of perms, they STILL search desperately to find a way to submit to the EUROCENTIC standards of beauty. But everytime someone(a black man or woman) expresses the reason why we shouldnt be doing that, and the reasons why YALL ARE doing that in the first place, yall say things such as, "race doesnt matter, I can do what ever I want, it 2010 slavery is over etc."

  • @lmarr07 I don't see whats wrong with those reasons. People reasons are their own. If i straighten my hair because I like strawberry ice cream (which obviously has nothing to do with hair), well then that's my own personal reason and anyone that waste their energy on b*tchin about it is a dagon fool. 100 years from now when the 'melting pot' is complete and there are no separate races, and we look back on this, well, you're a dagon fool. HAHA!

  • @SuperHotChocolate (con't) Oh, and my reasons for straightening: I love length, I love the feeling of the wind on my head (I don't care for the stuffy feeling too much), and I hate when my 'accessories' get more attention than I do, and my natural texture always gets way too much attention (i.e: I Love your hair!! I love your shoes! I love your outfit!! I don't like that. I'd much rather people notice ALL of me).

  • btw i do like ur vid

  • this looks good

  • Thanx so much, for showing how to straight natural hair! I'd always went to a hair salon for straightening my hair. With your vid I can do it myself!! Coming Sunday I'll give it a try doing it your way. I'll let you know the results. Thanx again for sharing! Love from the Netherlands, Amsterdam.

  • hi i know 3 young girls who get there hair relaxed every 8 weeks and im trying to convince their guardians (as they are adopted) that they can achieve sleek straight hair through deep conditioning and straightening as relaxing hair is so damaging. They dont wash their hair at all between getting it relaxed so for 8 weeks. So ive set a date to try on there hair what you have done on your video. Im a white girl lol so have no idea how often should they be washing/straightening there hair?? thanks

  • @catr0binson The Obama girls are naturals, but look at how straight their hair is at some of their appearances! Wow! Have you seen Chris Rocks 'Good Hair'? It's not just about hair damage, the chemicals used should probably not be touching human skin. I've said this before: "It really doesn't matter what you do to the hair itself, if the scalp is healthy, it will grow back! Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp". I wash my hair every 9+ days. It really depends. I know when my hair dirty....

  • @catr0binson (con't) I bartend, so there is always sticky stuff flying. I could probably go a lil longer without a wash if it wasn't for that. Please make sure you watch my second vid for more helpful info. I play cards with a white girl who is married to a black man and is trying to figure out how to straiten without chemicals. She just asked for my help a week ago. I'm so excited to help her, so def keep me posted on how things go for you! Cuddos to you for lookin out for them! U can do it!

  • @catr0binson wow that is bad i've only had 4 to 5 relaxers in the past 2 years. I like to keep my hair braided

  • your hair looked wonderful it looked very healthy and had lots of body...if you don't mind me asking are you bi racial or just black ??

  • @sisibby723 I don't like to say "just black", but I am black, and not bi racial. My great (maybe great great) grandfather is Irish, and that's about it.

  • I really enjoyed your video. It's the first I've seen with a hair texture similar to mind. Thanks for the advice.

  • Your hair came out great!

  • you have beautiful skin and your very cute, i'm natural too, been natural a year now, but i don't straighten much cause i just have a hard time keeping it that way, the frizz drives me crazy, lol

  • @lovelydiva06 small dab of olive oil or coconut oil right after you do the entire process. Stops the frizz!

  • Great tips! I appreciate the video and the tidbits about chi and cheaper items to achieve the same or similar product. that was very helpful. My hair is thin and its easy for products to weigh my hair down. Too bad some of these jerks just can't appreciate you taking the time to do this. Thanks again!

  • good job dont worry bout the others

  • yu did a great jog ppl sayin stuff bout yu on here are really rude

  • yu did a great jog ppl sayin stuff bout yu on here are really rude n

  • yu did a great jog ppl sayin stuff bout yu on here are really rude n need 2 grow up

  • you have a good formula for geting off chemicals, Looks good.

  • very nice! thank you sooooo much for posting this video! right now i'm transitioning and it is hard but i am determined to keep going! but to say that i dont miss that ''relaxed look'' would be a lie. so i am glad there are sistas like you out there that post helpful videos like this...please keep doing what your doing...god bless!

  • nice video quite the transformation from curly to straight.

  • Black women.....and their obsession with straight hair...

Seriously, why do yall feel like yall gotta straighten your hair? for what? You see, this is why I encourage black fella to embrace the God given natural beauty of Black womens hair. This is really sad, and a lot of yall see NOTHING wrong with it, NOTHING. All I hear is excuse after excuse. Same'ol thing, complaining that we trying to force yall into doing something with YOUR hair, which is not even the case.

  • @lmarr07 What about the black women that aren't even interested in black men, or men in general?! Why is it that some of you men think that everything a woman does as something to do with YOU? Cuz it doesn't, in many cases. If wearing my hair curly means attracting a fool like you, well, you're definitely not helping your cause sir!

"Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here!"

  • @lmarr07 Someone can ask the same with some Asians who want the "round eye" or Whites with tanning. Its just for style almost like dressing up.Nobody is self-hating.You can go natural, straight,or even color it a unnatural color. And for the record there are loads of videos of different women altering their bodies to look like something that is not common in their heritage.Straightening your hair is more benign than altering your eyes, nose, teeth, and body.

  • @lmarr07 for some straight hair is just easier to balance with. When your hair is so thick and curly, it can give you headaches and cause migraines sometimes. I have friends that are just african american ethnically and they straighten their hair so its weightless for them. I have mixed hair because I am biracial and even I straighten my hair due to constant migraines from how heavy my wavy hair is. Sometimes it's a matter of pain versus being comfortable.

  • @Vampiress02 Thanks for your intelligent comment. I don't get headaches or migraines from my natural texture styles, but the weight, the stuffy feeling, and the way my head feels like its suffocating, gets to me after a day or two. I believe that God made us all special and different races to fit in the environments of our origins, so I imagine if I ever go to Africa, my natural texture will feel like perfection in the dry desert sun. But until then....... ;)

  • thank you very much but I still haven't seen how you girls get the edges to lay down, I try olive control edge and that turn my sides white, the QP starts to melt when the sun hits it, and the brown gels don't work at all, if you can help me with this I appreciate it , thanks for your video it was helpful. I been natural for 14months.

  • @Synnsational I'm a lil confused at what your asking, but have you seen my second video yet? There's more info there...If you're trying to keep your hair from frizzing AFTER you've flat ironed it, a small amount of olive oil or coconut oil does the trick.

  • wow this is awesome!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for posting

  • i like ur hair good job

  • Thanks for the tips!

  • very pretty! thank you girl! Why are those people harrassing you!? its my first time seeing you and i think you are really cute and nice to do that! People can be mean for no reason!

  • Props for having enough patience to straighten your hair for that long.

  • very good video

  • really cute short hair. xD do you have a goal length or no? :P

  • @Neekolassify Breast length! (aka "boob length!" lol). Thanks!

  • Be careful on how you brush you natural hair.... If you start from the roots ( combing slowly - to detangle) you will have less breakage than if you comb form the root on out. ... ( just a friendly tip !)

  • omg! ive never seen a hairdryer like that! its pretty cool!

  • my flat iron is almost twice as big as this one, and my hair is shorter than yours. that's why i never can reach my natural hair (i only have 4months growth). maybe i should get a smaller one, right?

  • came out really nice. Great job!

  • u hav pretty natural hair. it luks cute

  • Her voice

  • looks good.

  • great vid:}

  • This is good but I am so scared to touch another flat iron. Everytime I do I lose hair, regardless of how much heat protectant I add.

  • @uknowdastory Could be the result of a bigger problem....

  • girl its more than good....dat thing look RELAXED thats was up

  • this is the most helpful video!!! thanks

  • now why can't my hair come out like that???? lol! I tried to flat iron my hair the other day and it was a mess...so I thought SURELY if I go to the beauty salon it would have that "relaxed look." Well that was a big negative...I just posted a video about an hour or so ago venting my frustration on the results....I'm trying to hang in their, but it just gets so tough....but thanks for this vid, I will try your technique...hopefully it works on my hair...be blessed!!!

  • Have you cut the relaxed hair yet?? You are pretty and the shape of your fro would be so cute. Hope all is well

  • @nosillaxoc Check out the second vid for the trim. As for my fro, its too darn big, and I hate the attention it gets! lol. I don't like when ppl complement my clothing (instead of simply telling me I look nice), so I'll be dagon if people are constantly complementing my hair. As an actress, its very important that people notice ME 1st. I cant let my 'accessories' get in the way. I cant be the girl with the big beautiful hair (like that lady from Deal or No Deal), they need to remember all of me.

  • Have you ever watched the first season of "A Different World"? You remember the chick Millie who hung out with Whitley? You look like her!

  • Are you ever gonna make an update video? Its been a year! LOL

  • @ladydipset88 I suck at life, i know! Haha! I've actually shot 3, all about stopping the frizz, but I hate them all, so that's why I haven't posted them. I'll come up with somethin i like soon tho....I hope!

  • Not sure if you can get Schwarzkopf product in the US, but a for a cheap alternative to Chi silk serums, you can try Schwarzkopf/s Gliss Kur anti-frizz serum...its really great, I live in the Netherlands and you can get it from the supermarket ^ ^

  • hello everyone

  • Is the straightener you have still at Target? I just looked it up on Target.com and I couldn't find it.

  • @analyticalw Check out my second vid. This flat iron gets a C+ or a low B compared to the iron in the next vid, that you can order online.

  • I LOVE IT!!! How long does your hair stay straight until you have to use the flat iron again? Or do you flat iron the hair everytime you wash?

  • @analyticalw I flat iron every time I wash, and that's it.

  • ugh.I hate it when people show us somethin and then they say,"I hope you can see that."

  • @funnybunnyZ10 ugh. I hate that I'm not able to block people like you from even watching my videos.

  • @SuperHotChocolate Daamn that was a good comeback :D

  • nice!

  • @jdarkangel11 yeah, i suck. Sorry. I'll get it up tho....

  • It looks nice but... I think that since your ends are not natural your hair doesnt come out like ours who has completely natural hair. The ends do not really straighten...

  • @shanealatrice See second vid dear.

  • @shanealatrice It turned out really good. But I see what you mean either left over laxer, texturizer, or just repeated use of flat iron. Cause the ends can tell all. But all in all it looks great.

  • @nakiel26 Check out the second vid. Those ends can be beat! :)

  • u make me feel to try this.

  • Your video was very informational! Thank you!

  • your hair looks nice and healthy! Good job.

  • You are too cute! Great video

  • tis beautiful :D

  • thanks for the vid i have been thinking about straighten my natural hair just to see the length on it. i think my hair is coarser then yours but ima still try.

  • omg i have never saw a blowdryer like that before

  • You should cut those little strands off!

  • @MsDivalicious89 See second vid.

  • What did you do to your hair in the beginning of the video?

  • @QueenOfTheHair huh?
