Come on people, we'll reduce gas use by 25% (made up statistic) and gas prices will rise 25% to compensate. How do the oil companies lose when this prolongs the depletion of oil the Earth has available? This just means they'll be no loss for oil companies now, and ensures the oil companies will be able to make money for a long time to come. What benefit is this on emissions if we'll just burn the oil a little later?

If congress had reconized the abuse of the law that allowed tax credits for vehicles over 3 tons, & made sure it only applied to businesses that needed such vehicles.

Imagine where GM/Ford/Chrysler would be if CAFE standards had be left in place, AMERICAN CARS would be averaging 35MPG TODAY! The big 3 fought every attempt to raise CAFE standards, said it couldt be done, meanwhile Toyota & Honda did it! The big3 wanted to sell profitable pick-up trucks with back seats in them otherwise known as SUV's.
