While the PS3 version of the game was slightly better in some ways then the PSP version, you cannot strap a PS3 to your back and bring it with you. Only the PSP can.

Hahaha, just kidding. But the main character is by no means "undefeatable" and it doesn't hurt to make him a little tougher by falling a few times.
