this is the least technically well performed rendition of this wonderful song i have heard hayley do and yet it is my favourite. the beautiful lady trying to choke back the tears bloody set me off. still i guess thats the only real point of music, to stir the emotions. so thanks and well done hayley.
Wonderful....beautiful voice....great song (prayer) . Thanks for posting! I am surprised at the silly negative comments so many post on these videos. Is it really worthwhile to start a mud slinging contest with a total stranger? I wish the host would delete the ones that are vulgar or snarky...and that just have nothing to do with the video. (and if you do....please remove this one too, with my thanks for taking down the others!).
I am going to get kicked in the teeth for saying this but this was far from Hayley's best. I have had the great luck to see a concert of hers and it was beyond extraordinary. It almost sounds in this like she is not feeling well. Her voice is not as strong as usual.
Hayley sang this song in memory of my wife's father, Richard Githens, who was killed in action in Vietnam. Search YouTube for 2011 National Memorial Day Concert and click the entry that shows the actress AJ Cook to see the segment about Richard Githens - it gives this performance some perspective. My wife is the lady in the emerald-green dress on the front row.
Something is very different here. Haley is the smoothest most pitch perfect singer I have ever heard, but here, her vibrato is very strange. Was she ill at the time?
So happy I got to experience this in person. Closest I've ever come to meeting her. Her voice is just wow. This isn't my favorite song by her, but it was great.
I'd like to see some of you try to sing after all these emotional stories, AND singing right in front of the people whose stories had just been told. Just seeing them trying not to cry was enough for me to try not to cry, too!
Hayley IS a professional. But she is also a human being, with a human spirit.
Pathetic how some people want her to be "technical" and perfect even at an emotional moment, I definitely wouldn't want people to "act" and only want them to be true to their heart and emotions, it'd have rather come across as ignorant of hayley 'IF' she sang this all so technically perfectly (as many expect) without being emotionally struck by the whole feel at that time. And I completely feel, hayley sharing the same emotion is more comforting than a technically perfect song.
I recorded this show on my DVR and it sounds several times better than what anyone hears in this YouTube video. Her voice is much richer and not nearly so fragile sounding. However, the emotional energy she delivers is unmistakable, even in this small format. Her performance obviously touched and comforted those who needed it most. Well done, Hayley.
So some people here would rather see a robot perform than a human being who might be affected by emotions. Well, for my part, I prefer the human being. That is what may happen in live concerts, a singer may not be 100% perfect, but at least genuine. I appreciate that Hayley obviously is emotionally taking part in our memorial day celebrations.

Sorry. She booted it big time. Shame as she has potential but needs to learn to be a professional and perform no matter who or what preceeded her in a program/performance.
I have seen Hayley do this song a few times all very strong Performance but this one was not her best still very good I read in the comments that a heartfelt story was told and she was a little choked up before she did this song that maybe it but to me her voice sounds tried this may not been her best performance she in in title to a off day she has a voice of angels
What a voice to be blessed with and given the story heartfelt story preceding I think she was a little choked up . She's very classic in her dress, emotions and choice of song. I too loved it I have heard Charlette Church, Connie Dover and Even Marie Osmond perform this, I too would likecto hear it on her next album and to hear her sing " Cantus"
@TheHopefulSkeptic The folks she was singing this for most likely do not share your point of view. True, the first notes were a bit shaky, but the rest was absolutely wonderful.
Very moving and beautiful performance by Hayley. It was placed perfectly in the memorial concert between the personal stories and the playing of Taps. The HD of Hayley is stunning

Very beautiful!...my only contructive critisism is that she needs to round out her vowels more but other than that it was amazing. Thumbs up.

I wish she would not do this, out of her range. Horrible

@crr1950 I thought the same. She sounds odd and I have heard her sing this piece many times. She sounds off her normal pitch. Maybe she has a cold.
