It's much better than Daniels's version who embellished it IMO a bit too much! This is so beautiful and in the right style! What's this nonsense about the tempo?! How much faster people want it to be played?! I think it's the right tempo. Great Cencic! Bravissimo!
@lieninsparty that's rubbish! where is written that an andante was faster in the time of handel than nowadays??? it's a question of interpretation and musical taste.
yeah, i dont mean the technique overall is crap, just his voice sounds unusually squeaky in general, as if he couldn't really sing that high. Just a pity coz he has demonstrated millions of times (afterwards) he is anything but squeaky!!!
He probably has the best counter tenor voice ever.
Do you think so? He's undoubtedly good. I think I have to listen to him more before I make a decision. My favourite has always been Michael Chance, with Gerard Lesne and Andreas Scholl in joint second. I've not gotten quite used to high operatic countertenors yet!
Of course I was talking about mezzo counter tenors... Gérard Lésne is my favourite falsetto voice EVER, but he was hardly operatic, a very quiet cristalline voice...
Très jolis violons ! Formidable orchestre.

sorry, but the high Gs are hideous...
was he very very young?
he conveys the anger quite well, but this is not the voice or technique we are used from MEC...

I agree about the high notes! But I would still say his technique sounds pretty good.
