I'm still dissapointed BBC. You fucked up BIG TIME with the ending of Series 2. You killed of Marian and Carter and left Will and Djaq, two of the most competent Gang Members behind in the Holy Land. Then you replaced them with that imbecile Kate and Tuck who didn't really do anything. This series could have gone on well as normal but you just HAD to go for the "shock factor" of killing off a main character and so you doomed an awesome series. *facepalm*
Well acted on Robins part. Marian- well, the fact she was smiling most of it with a sword through her annoyed me, then she took it out, and then I thought finally, some good acting and then she's smiling again! then she dies immediately and moves her hand all the way down- I thought it was quite ridiculous, but still sad.
Guys its not the marion show main characters have gotten killed off before in other shows and they still survived after. It may not have been the best choice but it does kinda confuse me when people say "They got rid of so and so the shows NOTHING now!" and its like, you couldn't of loved the show that much if all you liked was one character. Its like when people complained about Rose going from Doctor Who, everyone thought then the show would go down hill and it didnt, it wasnt "The Rose Show".

Even though this character wasnt the main character it held up the show and was such an important part that the show kinda went down hill. Without her it is not Robin Hood. In the genealogy of England estates the Locksley house became extinct around this time too so they were being more true to that aspect of the legend than any other. A lot of the story is historically correct, at least in terms of lifestyle and how the politics worked and I have always preferred the version of Robin Hood losing his love early than any other. He fought for her memory after that.
Marian´s speaking absolutely calm without any ache. That´s nonsence, it had to hurt so much! She was dying! Otherwise this scene is well and sad but this is very bad about it... It´s not credible...

I disagree.. As far as I've seen, and experienced, when you have something; knife, spear, or something like that, sticking through you, it hurts of course, but as long as it's not being moved, it doesn't hurt as much.. there for she would be able to talk quite normal..

The thing that annoys me is that Marion was really very nasty and manipulative of Guy, who she played for a sucker. I felt really very sorry for Guy in this scene, after allt he chances he's given her, she just turns around and bites him one last time.

I think this is Marian's shining moment. Yeah it is a little lame, but at least she doesn't go to pieces and she dies for England like she said she would rather do. I find that admirable.
It is really sad...but it's a little funny that she seems totally fine while the sword is in and then bleeds out in 2 seconds once it's out. I keep expecting there to be a comedy version where Robin's like, "Well, darling...why don't we just leave it in?" And then she goes on fighting with him with a sword sticking out of her for the rest of her life.
Actually, Lucy Griffith didn't quit. There was a misleading press release that said she wanted to go to Hollywood, but killing off Marian was the decision of the creator Dominic Mingella, who thought it was a good idea for the "shock value."
Yeah I know - I obviously didn't word myself very well: what I meant was that the show only lasted one more season AFTER Marian died, even though they were clearly setting up for another season with Archer. :)
Although this is sad I would think he would be a little more broken up when he says in sickness or till death...I saw the clip from when he thought she died the first season and he was more emotional!
They thought it would allow the Show to take a different direction. The actress Lucy Griffiths also agreed with them, as she thought it would allow the Programme more freedom, as Marian's demise lifted it from the narrative constraints of the original Legend.
Actually it was the Producers. They killed her off to allow the show to take a new direction, so it would not be restricted plotwise. But hey, at least she appeared in spirit form at the end of Series 3!
They tried the same thing in Ghost Whisperer, but with the uproar after Jim died, they ended dup giving a way to come back. wish they had done the same thing here. Killing her ruined the show.
this is a heart breaking scene!! i havent even seen this show except for once or twice. now i really want to watch it especially seasons 1 and 2. i already know what happens in some parts. but i think robin and marian are such a cute couple, heart breaking scene this one and in the end. altho i agree robins death was bittersweet in that he got to go to heaven and be with marian.

It would actually make sence that there was no blood because when a sword is jabbed into someone like that, it stops the blood from coming from the body until it is removed. That would also explain why she died quickly once it was taken out. It opened the wound up and she bled to death. :'(

Despite the lack of blood, I think it has to be said that is some pretty darn good acting. Hell, she may look a tad happy from time to time but if you've had to go through the shock of being stabbed by a sword you probably can't completely feel the wound. Brilliant.

The death scene could have been better...Is it me or does anyone else tunes out when Guy is not in the scene...sometimes I would sit and watch the show wonder if Guy would be in the next scene...RA brings so much talent to the show, makes his costars better...when he is not with them they seem a bit...lame. I still love the show!!!

I agree with Ravenya03-it was completely terrible that they killed Marian off....screw the "shock value*....and the worst aprt is, that I didnt get the last 3 epi's of the season so I NO idea that Marian had been murdered by Gisborn until the season premiere!!and I wasnt "shocked* I was fraking outraged that they would even consider to do such a thing!....Lucy was such a great actress and her character is written in stone next to Robin Hood, she shouldn't ever have been killed off....

I think this is Marian's shining moment. Yeah it is a little lame, but at least she doesn't go to pieces and she dies for England like she said she would rather do. I find that admirable.

It is really sad...but it's a little funny that she seems totally fine while the sword is in and then bleeds out in 2 seconds once it's out. I keep expecting there to be a comedy version where Robin's like, "Well, darling...why don't we just leave it in?" And then she goes on fighting with him with a sword sticking out of her for the rest of her life.

Actually, Lucy Griffith didn't quit. There was a misleading press release that said she wanted to go to Hollywood, but killing off Marian was the decision of the creator Dominic Mingella, who thought it was a good idea for the "shock value."

They thought it would allow the Show to take a different direction. The actress Lucy Griffiths also agreed with them, as she thought it would allow the Programme more freedom, as Marian's demise lifted it from the narrative constraints of the original Legend.

Actually it was the Producers. They killed her off to allow the show to take a new direction, so it would not be restricted plotwise. But hey, at least she appeared in spirit form at the end of Series 3!

this is a heart breaking scene!! i havent even seen this show except for once or twice. now i really want to watch it especially seasons 1 and 2. i already know what happens in some parts. but i think robin and marian are such a cute couple, heart breaking scene this one and in the end. altho i agree robins death was bittersweet in that he got to go to heaven and be with marian.

being honest, I was never a fan of the show, but killing Marion?! why?! Shes Robin Hood's Lois Lane. And guys, who wants the show to continue when the title character is dead, his love interest is dead, and from some of the other comments(i didnt see the last episode) a lot of other characters are too? also we all know changing actors for a major character never works midway through show

i don't think lucy griffiths wanted to leave the show cos she never mentioned anything about it in the dvd extras in series two... the writers wanted to kill her off because they wanted to give robin more storylines and they said that they couldn't have marian and robin together because it didn't suit the writers... which is a real shame cos marian is robin's soulmate! also kate and isabella are annoying beyond measure

It would actually make sence that there was no blood because when a sword is jabbed into someone like that, it stops the blood from coming from the body until it is removed. That would also explain why she died quickly once it was taken out. It opened the wound up and she bled to death. :'(

Throughout the first series I just wanted someone to kill her and now through the second series I want her back!
Sometimes I think the writers completely ruined her character and at other times I have to give them credit for her.
Despite the lack of blood, I think it has to be said that is some pretty darn good acting. Hell, she may look a tad happy from time to time but if you've had to go through the shock of being stabbed by a sword you probably can't completely feel the wound. Brilliant.
