Regarding what Amy Eileen said. The majority of TFA's continue to work for educational reform and ending the achievement gap. Clearly "encouraging" (?) teachers to become part of these "communities" (how could teachers not be?) is not enough. Come up with a fresh idea rather than a dull lament in line with Kozol--who taught for a total of six years--while 2/3 of TFA's stay on for a third year.
I love what Kozol said about Teach for America. I have always felt this way. We need to encourage teachers to come to our inner city schools and stay, become a part of the community and have a career there.
