This was good, but I have heard better. He has a good voice, but I would like him to open his mouth a little when he sings. He has some strange love affair with the "E" vowen. It sounds like he says "did you know that your beebee boy..."

Also in regards to the arrangement, I felt it was too constrictive. This song needs to have a lot of liberty with the tempo, liberty that was not given. He has a great voice, but I don't think this was the best example of his voice.

To clarify, in regards to Clay, I said he has a great voice, but he does need to work on the purity of his vowels. This is not a statement attacking him, but think about it this way, even Tiger Woods still has a golf coach to help him perfect his trade.

As for the arrangement. I do not blame that on Clay, because he is a vocalist and probrably doesn't do his own arr's. As for the tempo I realize that this was on a TV show and had time constraints. This was not a display of Clay at his best.

His mouth is fine when he sings. There is more than enough of a resonant chamber. I don't see the "E" vowel fixation that you talked about. He clearly sang "A" in "baby." He might have rounded out the vowel a bit, but it's not muddled in any way.
