  • her german accent is funny, annyway she sing good.

  • El pianista destrozo este milagro musical, la cantante, desafina terriblemente, Todo fuera de estilo

  • try raising your soft palette ;)

  • Congratulations

    You're amazing.

  • Love her voice, although the pianist was rude and overpowering at times. He was literally hammering the keyboard at times. Notwithstanding good job on behalf of the singer!

  • listen honey, i know you can sing and you really can but have u considered trying alto instead of soprano trust me im a soprano and i've sang this song and u just arent doin it right and please stand straight you make me nervouse and sad for you u look uncomfortable anyways good job

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hi my name is autumn i am i 13 i just wanted to say thank you so much i am doin something called honor choir and i had to learn this song it was so confusing i had no idea what i was supposed to be singing. then i listened to your video and it helped me so much i actually learned the song i have not tried out yet, but i will tell you when i have. i also wanted to say u have a beautiful voice and i hope mine developes into something at least close to yours

  • i had to sing this in front of my whole skool

  • im singing this in ma choir lyric an im goin in to belcanto....

  • we sang this in choir this year (9th grade) i love it soooo much!!!!!

  • Its good that she's singing Bach, but this certainly isnt Bel Canto.

  • wonderful

  • You have an amazing voice.. Wow... I am singing this on Sunday for an Organ fundraiser for a local church. Thank you for your help. I have never sang this song nor have I ever heard it before. Gorgeous voice :)

  • this is really good :)

i'm using it to practice for my audition.

  • shes a beautiful singer.(: alittle to fast. but still great. im singing this in mrs.quinns classs. im in 7th(:

  • this song is so beautiful he wrote for his wife

  • Who is the elefant pounding on the piano? This is a delicate prayer and song of comfort....

  • @Urgmuf

agreed. this is a gorgeous piece with an equally gorgeous voice singing and then this accompanist is completely overpowering her. pity.

  • @Urgmuf Dude, as a professional accompanist, If I ever played like that I'd never get another job...

  • I had to sing this song in chorus in sixth grade. I can't believe it's been almost 3 years and I remember it :))

  • Ich finde es irgendwie charmant

I think its kind of charming

  • I think its charming, no perfection but that brings some heart in the song

  • Beautiful!

  • pretty :)

  • uh, actually, the word in there is "getreuen", so she obviously was correct to pronounce a "g"...but i still think someone should teach her how german is pronounced. like maybe a german speaker.

  • ok this is gonna sound like totally materialistic but i really LOVE your dress, it's really pretty and u did sound fantastic

  • I'm sorry but this has been bothering me: Don't slouch, you look like you are scared infront of the audience and you can't get half as much of the air you need if you are not standing up straight, on the other hand you had amazing vowel sounds and ur german is very crisp.

  • Excelent interpretation!

    I love your voice.

  • there is no "g" sound in trouen (I am not sure about the spelling of the word. it sound like troy-en) I had to sing this for chorus. good job!

  • You were a bit flat in a few places. You need to fix your posture, loosen up your shoulders and neck. I know it makes a difference because I carry a lot of my tension in my shoulders and neck, and when I finally loosened up, I could access notes that I had only dreamed of hitting. Also open your mouth more, and work on more steady breathing. You have a nice instrument and with a bit more work I see you going places.

  • I agree, she had nice vowel sounds though and her soft pallet was obviously lifted (not on the high notes though)

  • An american sings German song? I'm from German (from switzerland) and i think the words are so old. But i like the melody

  • Look in youtube "Taylor Ware". She is a young girl from Tennessee who sing YODL. (I don´t know how to write it but is the music from Switzerland).

Music belongs to everybody, no matter language.

If you like it, just sing it.

  • @VerySbaH we are singing this song in chior nor

  • She's not from German, right?

  • I have to sing this for Honors Chorus in two weeks. I don't even know how to pronounce half of those words.

  • you should really try to open ur mouth more to make a more richer sound come out especially on the low and high notes

  • careful on the high notes!!!!

  • i have 2 sing this song 2 but i dont know all of tha second parrt

plz commment baq and help me preform well i have a strict teacher

  • i have to sing this in my chourus and im only12

  • Your pitch isn't very good on the minor notes as well as the high notes. You should keep a straight back and breath nice and high before you sing at the start of every phrase, make sure your the one whose leading not the pianist his only the accompianist remember.

Great dress and good try keep up the good work.

  • You need to sing in pitch and keep a good posture your hunched a bit. And also make sure you lead not the pianist. Don't push the top note just let it happen.

    Great Try though

  • Nice voice, but slightly off-key at one or two occasions. Still a very good rendition. The accompanist seemed a little too brusque, but on the whole four stars from me. Best wishes, Ben.

  • Great effort. Flat on notes. Poor pronouncing and the accent.

  • Bad accent but good voice... Lake of feeling though. Hey, don't be so happy, it's Bist du bei mir... !

  • What for an accent?

  • Very good!! She only had like two mistakes but that's all good =D

  • We did this in our chorus concert and we had a german girl in the class so it was easier. Thats amazing!!!! Are you really German or were you just singing it in German?Your pronunciation was AMAZING!!!!

  • im sry i dnt agree with the other comnts

u are a little flat on the high notes.

i lyk ur voice and its very nice

and try to pronounce the german better.

i am currently singing this peice as well.

  • ...very nice !!!

  • Hey! Look at my channel an leave a comment on my version...=D Thanks!!

  • that was awesome i love your voice we have to sing this song for choir concert next week im kinda scared :]]

  • wow thats high. just a tip try to stand up stragiter and open your motuth. you'll get the notes a little better. we sing this for our 6th grade chorus.and were actualy good. haha. ut good job:)

  • 6th graders singing this sounds rather scary.

i am in one of the best ranking choruses in the state for hs and this doesnt seem 6th grade .. but good luck. i am singing it too.

  • a good effort overall however here's a few suggestions: you're breathing is good, but keep your breath connected to your abdomen and keep your abdominal muscles engaged, this will help you put more effort into the sound without harming your voice. you're letting a little too much air through (the raspy sound), this is helped by keeping the abs engaged and putting more effort into the sound without forcing breath.

    great dress by the by.

  • Excellent distinction between nuch and ich. Good Vibrato, a little pitchy (the g i think) but nothing a good voice teacher cant help you with. Remember to relax your jaw and keep the sound forward. You don't want to get it lost in the back of your throat.

Excellent job keep up the good work.

  • Excellent job, i know the recording is a little old. Your German is off to a good start. Watch your vowels, your [a] vowels need to be a bit brighter.

I also noticed that you arch a little forward. Remember that your body is your instrument and you need to create a solid frame to achieve great sound.

  • Listen to Kathleen Battle ,the best perfomance ever!!!

  • stand up straighter an itll be better

    but still its good

  • Great voice and a nice performance, no doubt. This song is my favorite song. I like Bach so much, but please correct the sharp parts of your singing.

    Greetings from Germany

    Bye.

  • I thought it was very good, although she was a little bit sharp in some areas. I'm also doing this song for a solo! This is such a great song!! :D

  • This was beautiful. Good dress, great voice.

  • Beautifull!!!!

Just a tip...open a litle more your mounth...so the soundis going to be better and stronger

    I love your voicee!!

  • Try to stan up a little more straight...but keep working like that..you have an amazing voice!!

  • I'm German too, and I can hear a little accent. But really not very strong.

For example when she sings 'drückten' 'schönen' 'vergnügt', but it is not very strong and the german umlaut is very difficult.

I think it sounds charming. When I'm singing english I shurely too have an accent.

  • it's known as bach... apparently he stole it.

    whatever.

I can tell you were nevervous.

Your breathing was the first to go.

But you can tell you have a killer voice!

  • I am going to use this song as one of my songs to get into the Manhattan Academy of Music. I need an Italian song, an English song, and a German or French song.

  • i'm doing this song for solo&ensomble right now :)

its really a pretty song,i love it.

  • i am about to do this song feb7th for solo and ensemble and i just wanted to that you for being the video that helped me to learn the lyrics without being bored to tears lol... i hope that my solo is as great as yours was... dont worry ppl mine will be on here to criticise too :D

  • I'm singing this song right now, and I know, it is not the easiest song to sing. This song is very dependent upon breathing(especially for the high notes) The diaphragm is the best tool that I have. And I like to add a lot of vibrato to mine as well. But this is very good, nice job on the pronunciation, and hitting the notes.

  • you are on a good way, but a long way is to go still...ALL words of this songs have a strong correlation to bachs genious music...ok, you have almost no support of the pianist, his right hand is rather counterproductive, the harmony changes you may feel better if you try this piece with an bass voice (only for training, best choice is a baroque cello, whose player nows to make it groove!), try it (and more slowly), you will be discover a new approach to this wonderful piece. regards - K.

  • Schöne Stimme

  • oj oj:/

  • I believe Bach...could be wrong.

  • beautiful =]

  • j.s. bach

  • parece que estas cantando pop

  • Most people say it was written by Johann Sebastian Bach, but others say it was really Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel.

  • No, no, no, sorry but that´t totally Bach´s, no doubt about it, if you´ve ever played bach and you play this, you just know it.

  • Sorry, it's totally not Bach's. A lot of people mistake it for Bach, but it's definitely Stölzel.

  • It is by Bach. I have the music for it. Bach is the accredited composer.

  • Bist du bei mir (en: "If you are with me") (BWV 508) is an aria by the German composer Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel. The piece is often mistakenly attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach due to its inclusion in the 1725 Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach.

  • Interesting...I'm singing it this semester for jury. My copy says Bach, but with your info, I'm going to do some more research. Thanks!

  • beautiful voice, keep on practicing you will become a a beautiful singer. Ciao

  • I agree with some of the above commenters that your voice is very good, but your technique needs work. Also, if at all possible, please work with a vocal coach to correct your German pronunciation. Nothing kills the mood faster for anyone with experience in a language than an overt American accent. (I as an American feel so.)

Overall pretty good job, though. I do wish to reiterate my praise over my criticism, because I do think that with work, you could develop into a very fine singer.

  • You have a beautiful voice and you sing very musically, but your technique really needs some work, like the way you hold your head, and you don't really have any support in your voice (you can especially hear this in your high notes)

Please keep on singing because you have a beautiful voice, and try working on your technique!

  • This is great!!!! My courus Sorry i spelled it wrong. But i performedit with them it's a wonderful song

  • ein Lehrstück wie man nicht singt und sich schon gar nicht zur Schau stellen sollte.

  • creo que esta cancion es sola para que la cante un hombre

  • es tradicionalmente cantada por mujeres

  • yes the piece was written for sopranos, there is a version with SATB, and in this version, the S sings the part, that is sung here...

  • We sang this for my 5th grade songfest.

  • I think this is the only version here that I can listen to over and over! God you're voice is gorgeous! So mellow and sweet and innocent and straightforward. You're relaxed tone was so full and beautiful, that it constantly inspired me to sing along. Reminded me a little of Kelly Clarkson. You're very highest notes were breathtakingly beautiful, but need to be streignthened - just a BIT more - not too much though, and from the top down of course, like the best methods - and never mind liquidshl

  • I'm playing this on solo bass on friday.. this helped my musicality so much! thanks

  • wow

  • ...das ohne jeden akzentstufentakt polternde klavier verdirbt das ganze gründlich, schade, keine beurteilung möglich. Siegfried

  • I love this song so much.

you have a very lovely voice, but you sounded like you were really nervous, and maybe not getting enough air support.

but you did well, and you have very good German pronunciation. :D

  • You need to pitch on the upper notes, and maybe try to feel the music a bit more- But really a lovely voice!! Well done!

  • watch pitch on the upper notes, use space, but otherwise, very excellent pronunciation, I sang this for a conpetition last year. Good job.

  • Posture is key to singing correctly. Pretend you are a proud mama bird: chest forward (not necessarily high), and breath low into the abdomen and back. No spreading the mouth. Your mouth should ALWAYS be rounded, no matter what vowel you sing.

  • the vowels and pitches are beautiful, but you can barely hear the consonants. otherwise, good work.

i'm doing this for solo and ensemble too (in alto part though). sadly, i can't do the trills =[

  • ...wish she could have better posture and articulate more - it would be beneficial to that beautiful set of pipes!

  • I love this song

  • i'm singing this tomorrow for solo & ensemble

  • is this at lppacs? if so, this is the song im singing for the jury!!

  • "If you are with me, I´ll come gladly to my death and my rest".

But, yes, she unfortunately sings off key sometimes and looses the rythm

  • anyone know the translations for this?

  • This should at least be close to it If Thou art near when life is closing All joyful shall I fall asleep, Be Thou with me as I awaken, And claim my soul when I arise If Thou art near when life is closing, All joyful shall I fall asleep, Ah, how serene, were thus my passing, Thy tender hand upraised in blessing Would sanctify my slumber deep Be Thou with me, as I awaken And claim my soul when I arise
  • Aw... that's so beautiful. I almost teared up thinking about my boyfriend. :(

This girl has a lovely voice by the way.

  • desafinada!! faltan dinamicas, en la ultima parte de la cancion altera la composicion. pero tienes una voz muy bonita trabaja

  • she's got a nice voice, though she looses key sometimes

  • i sing this in this chourus im in.

  • het is te vreselijk om aan te horen

  • a very nice dress!

  • The makings of a nice voice. MOUTH MUST BE OPENED ATLEAST THREE TIMES AS MUCH IN SINGING THAN IN SPEAKING. DOING tHIS WILL MAKE AN EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE AS OPPOSED TO A SO SO ONE.

  • i sang this song for elemtery all county last year in 5th grade and we rocked out loud!!!!!but we had to say the words in english then german

  • nice, but you need to open your mouth a lot more to get better notes...

  • sparkly!

  • Keep resonance throughout the piece, make sure your diction is correct and that will unleash your artistic potential. Develope a connection to the text, that is very important to remember when performing continuo lieder. Very good voice for Bach. These will help you as you go deeper into German repertoire. :)

  • light and pretty voice but the german is a problem

  • sehr schöne stimme. da kann man ruhig eine selbstbewußtere haltung zeigen!

  • Ich war vergnugt beim zuhören. Wirklich schon. Apart from the pronounciation of ö and ü (which isn't of any REAL importance) it was realy quite good. I enjoyed it, thanks for uploading.

  • sehr schon!

  • Congratulations!!! very very beautiful music and your voice is wonderful. but some pronounce problems, like (vergnÜt // drÜckten // ENde...).

  • Hi laralb, you sing very well and you are very beautiful!

  • Very nice voice - no problem there. For the parts that are a little bit off, I recommend more space in the back of your mouth and remember to breathe. But again, very well done.

  • i had to sing this i'm 5th grade going into 6th and u mgiht need when furden dont skip and go high then to the note under it stay at the same note

  • i'm from germany and i really have to say: great performance

  • Very nice. However, since it's german, REALLY over pronounce the consanants(sp?). I have trouble with it too...

  • She has a pretty nice and expressive voice=)

but 00:36 and 00:42 a bit off key

  • Very well done. Don't worry too much on the pronounciation of the German words, if you have been speaking English all your life, German pronounciation is bound to trip anyone. Besides, no one save Germans would notice ;). The "ch" combination catches most people up.

  • not a bad job, some notes were off though.

this song isn't by Bach, by the way, it's by Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel.

  • The sheet music from which this song was sung did say Bach. However, a google search reveals a discrepancy over who the actual composer was. Some, such as Sheet Music Plus, say Bach; others Stolzel. We have decided to exclude a composer's name, since we have no way of verifying its accuracy. Thanks for pointing this out to us.

  • Bach included this song in his 'Notebook for Anna Magdalena' and is therefore credited for composing it (BWV 508). The real composer is not certain, but Stölzel is generally accepted.

  • Woaw you have a really nice clear voice. I'm a countertenor by myself and now that it's a very hard song to sing. Work on the clearness of the high notes and you'll be a great singer!

  • hey she has a good voice needs some work thou but for the most part good singing dont lean when your trying to be exspresive it dose nothing but mess up your alinment and work on the acent of germen words are right just they dont sound completly right cause of the accent

  • she was great! she needs to work on correct pronounciation though. good job!!!

  • This song is in the movie "Merry Chistmas" awesome song and movie.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • "Männerstimme dazu würde auch dazupassen."

Ja, wie auf dem Originalband von "Joyeux Noël."

  • schönes Lied! gut gesungen - Männerstimme dazu würde auch dazupassen ;)
