  • As a long time fan of this song when it came out, this remix is faster, tighter, and more aggressive,..... but it doesn't come anywhere near the original by a long shot.

  • I love the bass in this song. Thanks, Jeff. That is all.

  • G-E-N-E-R-A-T-I-O-N X the last century XX

  • the 3 dislikes was obviously Nirvana

  • @hellbadger84 lol, how old are you? aren't you never going to understaaaaaand that NIRVANA and PEARL JAM fans are the saaaaameeeeeeeeee. fuuck, we love them both stop saying bullshit

  • @dammit1996jaded jesus christ calm down, I was just trying taking advantage of the fact there's 3dislikes in this PJ video & there was 3 members in Nirvana.

  • @hellbadger84 ok, sorry lol, I just hate people that think that PJ and nirvana were enemies

  • Epic description.

  • Great song, but they over-compressed the drums on the remaster. Not by much, but you can hear it.

  • OOOO EEEEEE OOOOO ZAMAMNSVBKJAKMNLANVLA

  • FREEEEEEEEEZZZ-ZZIIIIIIIN! RESTS HIS HEAD ON A PILLOW! MADE OF CONCREEAAT! AGAAAAIIIIIN!!!!!!!!

  • I like the remaster way more myself.

  • I like this version better if they can still make a song that was awesome to begin with i bet that they could make songs just like they did in 91. I could of swarn though that this is the version thats on guitar hero three.

  • in the 1991 sony bmg live version who the hell was he talking to? who's josh?!

  • I dont know what the hell people are complaining about with this version..it sounds fuckin great and the spirit of the song still comes through.

  • WHY DOES THIS SONG HAVE DIFFERENT VERSIONS ON IT?? THE 10 ORIGINAL STUDIO VERSION IS MORE SLOWER AND LESS ROCKING, THIS VERSION THE REMASTERED IS MORE ROCKING HARD BUT I LIKE THE VIDEO VERSION :) WITH JOSH, TURN THESE LIGHTS OFF , THIS IS A FUCKING ROCK CONCERT ! PEARL JAM ROCK ON =)

  • grr dynamic range compression

  • Stupid loudness war.

  • I don't know why Stone has the number 3 on the Les Paul, or the lizard on the sunburst model either. Good question, but I don't know the answer.

  • groove!! and groove!! that's why I love this song!!

  • I like the "Even Flow" done in rearviewmirror -- it had a good, fast paced, natural sound

  • i dont know why u guys discuss for such diff... if this ver. is better than the original , if teh voice sound less than guitar , if the drums are no longer heared .. the only fact here is pearl jam and this piece of fucking album !!! so shut up and listen the music :P guys !

  • I CANT HEAR THE DIFFRENCE

  • @MrHello435222 all the reverb on eddies voice, daves drums are gone. listen to the original 'Oceans' and the remastered version. you should hear a difference.

I'm not sure why everybody hates this Brendan O Brien remix... I love it. everything's a bit louder too

  • I have always prefered the "re-recorded" version of this, the one they used for the music video. We call it the "Jap" version, cuz it was on the Alive Japanese single lol.

  • @rustedrails I have that Japanese import "Alive" single with the "Alive" from the video, "Wash" and "Dirty Frank", but diff. versions than on Lost Dogs. I got it in '93 cost me $20. Worth having..then. I prefer that version too, although this version is closer to it than the original

  • @MrGossardX I don't own the remastered "Ten" album yet. I think the tracks sound better, except for "Oceans". I take it your a Stone fan from your screenname. I have been wanting to know WHY Stone has that number 3 on his Gold Top Les Paul in the "Evenflow" video. I've seen it on another of his Paul's as well. Any idea?

  • @jimbob1234567 any mental problems, sir?

  • I agree the remixed version of the entire album is better. The one piece of advice I give to fans of any kind of music, especially Pearl Jam, is to listen through headphones. Headphones give you every aspect of sound, it's the way you should hear every song. You get the entire effect.

  • @jtumble10

Yeah dude, I never understood why people got big like stereos and shit. They're way more expensive than headphones and not as good. I'd die without my Sonys.

  • this is better than the original version

the original version sounded like they were playing in their garage

  • I can understand why people still like the original version(s) more (we have those strong emotional connections to that particular sound; I get it), but I really like the way these remixes have that raw, live sound. This mix reminds me of the live sound of the video for this tune.

  • Listen to the drum break at 2:45. on the original it was crystal clear; the snare sounded snappy. here it just gets lost in the noise. This re-master sucks!

  • @mellodge Matt Cameron is the drummer on this version, so the snare drum is different. I like it more this way, it sounds fat.

  • @DrummerGAS

Really? I thought this was the original track, just remastered.

  • I suspect that deep down the real reason why the guys always complained about how ten was produced is because it made them sound like a better band than they actually were, which became clear with the subsequent albums. Not to say that they werent absolutely brilliant, but tim palmer made them sound like gods. I dont hear the advantage to this mix. The drums and vocals are overcompressed and tinny.

  • It sounds fucking horrible! all the detail has been lost. How sad.

  • LOL, how does it sound horrible to some people?!?!?!? It sounds almost exactly the same. Even if there is no reverb, taking that off is definitely not enough to ruin this great song.

  • @metal4life344 If there is one album I'm familiar with, then its this one. Its sounds horrible because much of the detail is lost; all the nuances that we call 'music'. THe original was good as it was. All they have done is make it louder to fit in with modern CD's. But there lies the problem.....modern CD's sound horrendous.

  • I shut off all the lights in my room.

  • Original was much better I think. Don't like the guitars in this and the vocals arent nearly as haunting

  • I honestly liked the original, the vocals were so much better

  • the insane amounts of reverb are what made original Ten awesome to me. Vedder's voice sounded so ethereal and expansive. I'll stick with the original

  • everything they did is so special. i'm so grateful that i've known this band.

  • i liked the sound of original back when it came out but now the sound is a bit dated almost 80s sounding, still a classic and i respect your opinion

  • the only bad thing about the original ten was the production

  • I have to disagree. Original Ten was divinely produced and sounded warmer. The new remix might be more aggressive, but the guitars are too loud, the voice is too low and the overall feeling is kind of cold and disjointed. Original is still better

  • @AFirmKickInThePants On the original Ten, the producer made the very very bad mistake of putting reverb on the rhythm section, resulting in a mussy and not very clean sound

  • @ToaJoe You call it mistake, I call it great idea. Seriously, it was one of the best produced albums of the 90s and everyone's bashing it, then they say this version sounds better. In what? It's unlistenable and messed up. You can hear Eddie talk after the solo. What's the point of that? Original Ten had a soul, everything blended smoothly. Tracks like Once are totally fucked up on the remaster, i.e. the guitar, bass and voice track are badly put together. But if these are people's standards...

  • @AFirmKickInThePants Do you know anything about mixing and producing? It's audio suicide if you put reverb on the rhythm section. Original Ten was fine guitar and vocal wise (still too much reverb IMO) But they put reverb on the kick drum and bass guitar... that is unbelievably stupid. The rhythm section is supposed to sound clear and strong behind the leading instruments, but on the original Ten is just sounded mushy, slopped onto the guitars.

  • @ToaJoe I'm not a producer, and I guess you're not one as well. But as far as I'm concerned, the original production was much more better than this, and that DARN reverb was the main reason. I don't care about how the rhythm section is supposed to sound, when I hear both versions I still find that the original Ten was better. As long as I have ears, and personal tastes, I'll say that this remaster sounds like shit

  • @ToaJoe Well, supposed by whom?

    The original Ten is flawless

  • @AFirmKickInThePants fuck yeah, this is sick as hell, but i miss the dirty sound from the 90s

  • @AFirmKickInThePants everyone's entitled to their own opinions I guess. Personally I think it keeps the same feel. just makes everything cut through much clearer and more powerfully.

  • @AFirmKickInThePants

    Cant replace the original. :)

  • @AFirmKickInThePants damn right! especially if you have the vinyl copy of Ten, which I luckily own.

  • @AFirmKickInThePants

Totally agree with this statement. A mix like this occurs when a guitarist mixes the sound: guitars front, center and wide, vocals down, more bite in the mids, less defined bass and wash the whole thing in reverb as an afterthought. This mix was not an improvement.

  • @AFirmKickInThePants And grooovier and faster ;)

  • @AFirmKickInThePants Yeah, from my point of view (not that it really matters in this ocean of differentiating opinion lol) I like to give equal appreciation to both albums because they're still the same group, the same songs. And I think it depends on the mood of the listener at the time they are listening to the music. If they are feeling pumped, listen to the remaster. If they feel like just opening their mind and being free, then the original is my suggestion.

  • I prefer the original. Not digging all the echoes in this one...

  • this sounds so bad... original ten is better :|

  • Are you kidding me? The original ten had SHIT production... awful ammounts of reverb that completely destroyed the rhythm section and guitars. The remaster is much better

  • @ToaJoe Hell yes, I totally agree,. The Original Ten was hazy with echo and reverb, the overall sound was way too thick. This sounds so much crisper and sharp, I love it!

  • this is music
