  • Also we humans are one of the biggest killers, we pollute the earth, we eat animals when we are suppose to be vegatarian, and we are sick minded just to go as far as to think that killing is right, yeah maybe killing an animal when stranded, and we need food, then yes,

also we destroy the enviroment, and i hope you die. and saying your getting revenge is absolutly stupid, a big man killing a small turtle, get a life. oh wait i mean lose your life.

and if none of you agree, burn in hell.

  • @MBSaturnus

    you are a sick person,

boiling a turtle alive is very evil and cruel, thats like setting a person on fire while they are still alive, infact if i ever catch you doing that i will fucking wipe you out of existinse in the most painful way possible, and it will be a very, very slow death.

Also saying snapping turtles are muderous creatures is a retarded answer because you are a uneducated fuck, snapper turtles where made by God, and God made them for a really good reason.

  • im not sure if i would touch one i mean as far as i know they could bite a hand off before you would even recognize they bit yo

  • lol i don't think they're like shotguns...

  • what is Will Ferrell doing there?

  • 03:28 .... y then tell me turtles are slow..

  • "OH SNAP" yikes! :)

  • AWESOME video, and yes he does look like Will. Love the video, Love the respect and care for the turtle, Thank you!

  • At 00:30 I thought this was a spoof starring Will Ferrell.

  • they ARE disgusting and murderous critters. i always drive over them by intent, love the sound of their shell cracking. revenge !!!

  • I'm from southeastern PA. I've never seen a film on them like this, nice job :) We used to hunt them years ago using spears, and to be honest, they make a great stew...I haven`t hunted them for some time since the size and creel limits were put into effect some years ago...And I don't care what that guy said, they are aggressive, that snapper was acting normal for the species. they snap no matter what, even the hatchlings lol And turtles in general don't attack while they are laying eggs... :)

  • They can be pretty tasty in soup.

  • @mmhardy1 true ! they actually taste best when you boil them alive in their shell, believe me the meat will taste much better than if you clean them before (it becomes rotten very, very fast)

  • turtles are deaf

  • so did you ever get an email from someone who saved a turtle thanks to your video?

  • that is the right way to handle a snapper not the video "how to help a snapping turtle cross the road" do not grab the back of the shell, you wont get bit but it will put a lot of pressure on the back of the shell depending on how heavy it is.. grab underneath and they cant bite you and now stress is put on the turtle.. i've been handling snappers for over 20 years and that is the proper way

  • Hello Todd , my name is Alex. You are a very talented film maker. I was incredibly touched by your lost film video and have watched everything you have uploaded on your channel since. I am a guitar player and I can say without ego that I am also talented. I would record videos to share with you but I do not own a digital camera. I really hope that one day that we can meet and be friends. If you ever find yourself in the greater Baltimore area let me know and I will show you my home town.

  • Sweet video...........

  • That one looks tender. Needs some flour, corn meal, and pepper.

  • The words Turtle and Shotgun are now semi-synonomous in my mind :)

  • Save it for Thanksgiving dinner!!

  • Like Sharks they need more study. and understanding

  • i love you

  • Very interesting video!

  • I have a sad turtle story. My dad helped a snapping turtle cross the road away from our house. Late that night, I went into our garage only to see the turtle right by the garage door (Meaning it had crossed back)! My dad picked it up and put it outside. Well, the turtle crossed the road yet again, and it got hit by a car. We did what we could though.

  • @jazztap64 are they good pets or not?

  • @jamiebellwolf If you get them captive-bred and handle them often, they tame down pretty well. The same cant be said about wild-caught individuals, as you can see in the movie. Mines a big baby who loves being wrapped in a towel and cuddled on my lap. He's still young, though-he's only 8 inches across the carapace. So he may get feisty later. Oh, and they need HUGE tanks because they get BIG: a 200 gallon tank can hold a 30lb snapper. So get ready for a VERY large turtle with a BIG appetite!

  • @veelalynne oh so they can be tamed? they say alligators and crocs dont make good pets because they can never ever be tamed

  • @jamiebellwolf You always have to show them respect when you pick them up and always have to handle them with the knowledge that they can bite; but they do become used to being handled to a certain extent. For instance, when I hold mine on my lap, I do wrap him in a towel first, which he seems to love, thank goodness. He may be just biding his time, though. When they are babies they are completely tame and friendly but as they get older, they can get onery.

  • i tried the tail thing once, and i think it hurt the turtle so i put it back down before it was fully lifted off the ground. i pulled it away from the road though so it wasnt hit. :D I SAVED IT STILL!!

  • Yea will ferrel

  • Don't give exact locations of turtles on you tube. They are the target of unlawful harvesting for the Chinese food and medical markets. To some they have a large monetary value worth poaching for.

  • HAIKU

    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    Please don’t hunt me.

    —A Green Sea Turtle

  • this is going to my favorites. Why?! Will ferrel!!!!

  • Can you share with us what equipment you are using to take these wonderful videos, thank you.

  • "they're kinda like...shotguns" xD gotta love that line

  • he looks like a skinny will farrel

  • I have picked up many snapping turtles in Arkansas and Louisiana the same way he shows. the method does work and snapping turtles are a lot like he describes.

  • jackass did it (3.5)

  • I love your videos. You should be getting more hits.

  • Excellent video, as usual. But let me offer this: just because one or more individuals can confidently handle them doesn't mean that the rest of us "misunderstand" them. On the contrary, I think we understand them quite well.

  • In California, we are not allowed to even touch a desert tortoise if we see it crossing the road or otherwise, because humans actually transmit harmul diseases to them, which other turtles in the wild get. It is a huge problem. Are you sure it's ok for the turtle that humans touch them??

  • Cajun chefs and cars are the greatest enemies of snapping turtles.

  • I love the analogy that you made in the end of the short film.

  • 0:50 Self-proclaimed expert = not an expert.

  • cool vid

  • I'm going to have a bunch of hippies roll into my ER after trying to save them :/

  • Do a youtube search for 'How to help a Snapping Turtle Cross the Road' and choose the one by TorontoZooChannel and you'll see a much better video for how to help turtles cross the road - try what this guy says and you'll get bit.

  • @lallalland Yeah you'll find same vid and much more interesting stuff if you do google search for The "uncommon" Common Snapping Turtles: Chelydra serpentina serpentina It's on hubpages

  • This site hubpages.com/hub/The-common-snapping-turtle-and-the-uncommon-snapping-turtle has much better info on how to move a snapping turtle across the road -and more - inexperienced people trying what this guy says to do are likely to get bit, not that he doesn't know snappers but likely is not aquainted with the good samaritan who knows nothing about turtles. :)

  • @tsadjatko , his method could result in damage to the turtle's spine.

  • @rg0057 It's OK to hold it by the tail as long as the turtle's weight is not brought to bear on the tail Actually if you look closely in his video the turtle initially is supported by the water and out of the water he did support the turtle's weight so I think he knows. If the turtle was stuck in mud though he could have been putting too much pressure on the tail so you do have a point. But then if he couldn't pull the turtle out of the water - no video! I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

  • i aint picking it up from the road

  • Where in Pennsylvania was this shot?

  • @g0shu4 Union County

  • Comment removed

  • Good eating.

  • I have actually moved snappers off the road; though I wasn't brave enough to put my hand underneath, I simply caught them at the base of the tail and dragged them across, making sure to stay away from the 'business end.' They are big enough they can cause a wreck if you hit one in the dark. I live out on the country on an isolated road and I always move turtles off the road when i see them both for their sake and to prevent accidents. I will try his method of handling snappers and let you know!

  • That dude is totally Will Ferrel. Awesome!

  • @benmaltz Naw...He is much better lookin than Will Ferrel

  • actually, it's more like slogging in the slough in the everglades

  • The narrator has hipster voice.

  • Grumpy little turtle.

  • jesus could this kid sound any more hipster

  • Here via BoingBoing

There, now no one else needs to say it. Thumbs so no one else says it.

  • .....WILL FERRELL?!

  • Since when does Will Ferrell became a turtle expert? Awesome video btw. :)

  • Your voice is so relaxing

  • ugh please never stop making videos. make more, in fact. vlogs? :)

  • Build a turtle fence.

  • looks like it would be an awesome documentary

  • @NanouoMusic I think so too.

  • <3

  • Haha, I love your tone of voice in this video. It's so frank.

  • I use to follow snapping turtles around all the time in Honey Grove, PA when I was a kid. My grandparents owned land up there and snapping turtles were frequent visitors. They do have tempers, but only if you mess with them. If you leave them alone, they leave you alone. Loved the video!

  • Please never stop making videos ever. They are amazing

  • Todd, Were the pictures you left behind ever found?

Please respond, I am dieing to know

  • @videobleep ... sorry. read you message wrong before. The photos I left behind have not been found. i imagine when i'm 70 years old they'll turn up. and when they do, i'll make a video about it.

  • I thought he looked like Chad Smith, but OK.

  • thanks for the video. it's always good to know how to save another living creature. :)

  • Nice Video!
