There is an enormous error in the date..the concert at Altamont was Dec.6, 1969..1969 1969,,if no one else has mentioned it..I thought it may be a good idea..Peace Tony

fact: the guy who got killed came at security, which happened to be a HA member, with a loaded gun, and he lost to an unarmed man
fact: no hells angel was ever charged of a crime in this incident because it was self defense

@oakXXIII - It has also been suggested that the Glimmer Twins aka Mick & Keith should have made some other "security" arrangements, BUT -They thought it "cool" to hire HA-81 as security- The HA were simply following "orders" pre-arranged by the Stones management- doing what they were asked to do----

@oakXXIII few things you failed to mention there, firstly the HA were drunk and intent on violence from the start. They bullied and intimidated even the musicians. (they punched Jefferson Aeroplanes singer in the face) They started on another guy because he was black and had a white girlfriend, she had an unloaded gun (because of rasist trouble they had before) when the HA began pushing him around she gave him the gun and they beat him to death. The HA were/are dirt man theres no defending them.

It looked like that he had been pushed or something and was staggering holding the gun then passaro came running over and jumped on his back and stabbed him! Yes an angel was charged with a crime because he had to go to trial where he was found not guilty. If he wasn't charged with a crime he wouldn't have had to go to court.

"TRUE COLORS" is a video of mine. It's about 4 bikers from opposing gangs, the HA, Mongols, Bandidos, & Outlaws, who are too hungover to recognize one another. The movie begins with the four sitting at a picnic table near an outdoor Justin Bieber concert. Suddenly Bieber walks by & the bikers scramble for his autograph. Bieber refuses, unless they hand over their colors. Quickly they hand over their colors, in return for the coveted autographs. Bieber thanks them, spits on the ground, & leaves.

The stones did their job, and they did it well. The stage was too low meaning crowd were constantly jumping onto the stage, making the angels job very hard. Not to mention the fact that the stones were meant to play in the day and they kept the crowd waiting for hours, aggrivating them, leaving the angels to deal with the fall out. Seriously, had it not been for the hells angels mick, or any other band member could have been shot..

I read where one of these new "hipster" music bands was starting to play at one of these huge music festivals..bannanaroo or some shit...some kid in the crowd chucks one of his flip flops up on stage...the band was so freaked out by the sight of a flip flop landing on the stage, they refused to play claiming that it was an unsafe environment. The Stones faced down the fucking Hells Angels, a bunch of drugged out biker scum that just murdered a guy in front of them...and kept playing...rockNroll

@The6000Sabre I was there from 9pm the night before and we left past 9pm the day of the show. I was 100 ft from the stage in the center just front of the left scaffold with the American flag on it. Sonny Barger went by us on his bike and Mick Jagger walked by us. I recorded it on my Wallensack tape record and took pictures. Had a blast until the Stones came on...Oh they were great the crowd around the stage were not.

All the media saying it was a death of an era, well hell Woodstock had just taken place 4 months ago. Passing of an era so soon? I guess now I have to blame it on the San Francisco 49ers for using the first venue and having it canceled. In my opinion the motorcycle gang the Bandidos would have been a better choice. You know if the Dead refused to go on stage, that should have told the stones there. Yet they had used the Hells Angels in Miami and another town that tour. God only knows what was on Merideth Hunter's mind when he pulled the gun. One would like to think he was aiming at an Angel, but it could have been a Stone also.
