  • "I don't have any fans. Who cares?"

    -Lou Reed

    Fuckin A!!!!!

  • N% 124 if your fellow come th escol ... With touta

  • I AM THE TABLE!

  • @FractalBolt You are the metallica fanboy tosser.

  • Uplifting sad song!

  • uno dei momenti più alti del 900

  • @JosephalicCarnage well if this is god's shit then it sounds like a masterpiece

  • The last one and this have to merge into one another, if the two dont give you goose pimples, I guess I'm shouting in the dark (no big deal)

    spud custard

  • I once proposed (to a group of co-workers) that this could be the best rock album of all time, I was laughed at by all.

  • omg i fuckin love this guys singing

  • @brunoshulz and Otis Redding cover of what song? his "sad song" sounds nothing like this version and the lyrics are completely different

  • Does anyone else realize that this is an Otis Redding Cover?

It's an incredible song, an incredible version... Don't get me wrong.

    Just thought I would clarify.

  • @brunoshulz

Otis just has a song out with the same name, songs are nothing alike....

  • hi all

do you want her somthing different

u will like the khaliji art a sad song you will like it I hope

    watch?v=BGHUqbwISak

  • Sad song, this so much.

I'm going to stop wasting my time..just wonderful x

  • this song called sad song, but make me happy :)

  • More than Transformer (1972), Berlin (1973) is Lou Reed's masterpiece!

  • This song has just described how I feel right this moment.

  • Beautiful song and lyrics - One of Lou's finest

  • I think this is the song I want played at my funeral

  • Merveilleux. cela n'a pas vieilli. Quelle époque !

  • oops, orgasm :-p

  • That last note that rings out at the end just hits me hard for some reason...

  • It is indeed a 'Sad Song' Lou certainly knows how to put raw emotions into his lyrics.

  • just great.

  • to jest megawzruszające

  • A perfect ending to one of the most brilliant albums ever recorded. This came out in 1972, while most bands were still transitioning from the dated sounds of psychedelia. It took another seven years for The Wall to come out, where people would finally be ready for this kind of album.

Lou's always been ahead of his time.

  • @OcelotNow67 Yes.

  • This is a good time for the studio to catch on fire and him to escape... with only his life

    and no other people....

this is literally the worst. stick to FULLY LOADED man

  • @legallucy First of all, the actual album you're talking about is called Loaded (Fully Loaded is the extended version) and second, that album was little more than an attempt at a commercial sound, that isn't who/what Lou Reed is at all.

And third, it's a little late for him to 'stick' to Loaded, since this and that are decades old.

  • @legallucy First of all, it's called Loaded (Fully Loaded is the expanded version); second, Loaded was an attempt at a commercial sound, totally unlike who/what Lou Reed really is; and third, this and that are decades old, kind of hard for him to 'stick' to it.

  • She seemed very regal to me, just goes to show how wrong you can be.

  • Lou Reed is amazing his music speaks for itself truely loved seeing him perform

  • just such a fantastic song <3

  • how does Mary queen of Scots look by the way?

  • @edmondcarrefour not great, not only has she been dead several hundred years but she's also scottish......

  • poor thing

  • I didn't see her grave in Ibiza (no trace at all)

  • @edmondcarrefour - Like Nico

  • I was able to see the screening of the Berlin concert film at the Tribeca Film Festival in '08 (Lou was there!), and I was in awe of this song... it was (and is) SO beautiful and powerful, ahhh.

  • this is the most beautiful song in the world. period.

  • @ETLfromspace You are soooo right.my favourite in all the world

  • Why does he add "Mary Queen of Scots"? What would he know of her looks? I think he was trying to sound poetic. Or is it something to do with him hating Catholism? Couldnt he just of used someone like Marilyn Monroe or Joan of Arc?

  • @jjpeterson1 Have you seen any portraits of her by her contemporary artists? She was very beautiful, regal and tall, enchanting every European male's imagination, and winning them to her cause.

  • @jjpeterson1 Marilyn Monroe - THAT would have been original...

  • @jjpeterson1 Why not Lady Godiva?

  • The best song ever written, and this is the best song of the best album in the world. I cant believe how beautiful this is. Im glad I saw this live in Tallin and even bob ezrin was there and steve hunter... I love this beyond words, music just cant get any better or more beautiful, than you mr lou reed

  • @MrVelderado Best song and album ever ? Remove your head from your dreary, depressed ass and take the shit out of your ears. Diversify your music listening !

  • @MrVelderado I couldnt agree with you more...the best album ever!!! I bought it the day it came out in 73 and like you,I love this beyond words!!!

  • meravigliosa canzone ..

  • I've been listening to this album for more than 30 years and I have to say that this song in particular grows in power as the years go by.....

Loving the album as I do, I've never been able to relate to the subject matter, never experiencing the drugs & beatings & loss of children & suicide of a loved one.....but I've been caught in the album's spell all these years....

The "Berlin" album is NOT for the casual listener, but "Sad Song" is a MAJOR 20th Century artistic achievement......

  • Today they would all have just gone on Intervention and not written any great songs about the experience!

  • Triste come il mio cuore

    best regards

  • @nkosipusa molto come il mio cuore

  • Berlin is by far Lou Reeds finest work. Sad song brings to an end the story so well.

The critics at the time slated Berlin.........."shows just how wrong you can be"

Its very strange it takes over thirty years for berlin to get any sort of praise,

I also went to the London berlin live show. I agree he was AMAZING!.

  • She seemed very regal to me.............

  • reed is god

  • im going to stop wasting my time........

  • che ricordi,,,era amore

  • This song is so me. Its like hes talking directly to me. Amazing delivery.

  • Berlin, my favourite album of all time and Sad Song is my favourite song of all. I bought this album the very first day it came out in England in 73. I saw Lou perform Berlin in London in 2007 and 2008 and it blew me away!!!

  • a piece of art

  • a piece of art

  • thanks ricardo

  • a milestone in music ,,,, sounds likkke a "sad" spring

  • I think Lou wants us to know he's sad or that this song is.

  • i never thought this album could be pulled off live but the show at st.annes warehouse was unbelievable...from lou, his band and of course the magnificent choir. Tried hard not to shed tears but gave up in the end. LOU your a genius.

  • great back up band on this album-

    Aynsley Dunbar-drums Jack Bruce -bass

Steve Winwood-harmonium Steve Hunter-guitar the Brecker bros on horns

  • ... I don't get how this was commercially overlooked when Dark Side of The Moon was so huge. Both great albums, sure, but people said this was bloated and depressing... and Floyd weren't?

  • I agree with you. The album almost has the same good qualities as 'the wall' the rock opera feel. Have you seen the DVD release of the live album its excellent.

The main difference is David Gilmour, the guitar sense in all of us is treated mightly with pink floyd....my opinion.

  • fukin fan bloody tastic

  • great!!!!!! great album too

  • I moved out last week, after 6 years of marriage. The relationship got violent, my son got caught in the middle of the arguing, yelling and abuse. I can relate to this sentiment. I feel sorry for my 5 year old son who is in an unhappy frame of mind.

  • Hope your life gets together, know where your coming from, there's always a little sunshine, believe me.

  • So fuckin' great!

  • Berlin is a Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band of 70ties. In the top 10 of my list ever.

  • beautiful~

  • this guy is a true punker: someone else would have broken both of her arm's!

  • du hast es voll erfasst!

  • This is beautiful, poetry in motion.36 years old this album and is like a fine wine.

  • Don't think your son will ever be able to sing anything with such a father, mate...

  • i know, everything sucks and everyone is stupid!!! why can't everyone be more like me?? man, nothing is EVER as good as the stuff i like, everything is soooo stupid, i agree with you!!

    -bitter, cynical teenager

  • hahaha very amusing account!

  • If you write as good as you talk, nobody reads ya.

  • Perhaps his best song - timeless perfection

  • Peacful, disturbing and beautiful all at once.the flute at the end gave me goose bumps.Songs like this aren't produced any more.

  • what a song...not much gets close.

  • If you can find it, then check out the live version he did on the album lou reed live (back in the seventies). It's the first I ever heard of this track, and remains the most intense in my opninion... no choirs or orchestra, but the band with the two lead gitarists really nails it down, and reed sings great!

  • somebody else would have broken both of her arms. many of his songs are about jilted love (most likely with trannies).

  • Lou Reed's albums give me chills !

  • Un commentaire français ?

Une introduction à faire dresser tous les poils . Le top .

  • oui, les francophones sont présent partout... heheh pas de souci

  • I do love a good concept album, and this is one of the best.

  • Comment removed

  • best song in Berlin album

it talking ut a girl and boy both dead each ohterh?

  • This song is great and definitely one of my favorite Lou Reed songs of all-time.

  • i love the start of this song

it sounds like it could be from snow white and by the end of the song the same melody is all slow and warped and haunting

    great stuff

  • in my top 10 list of best albums of all time and without no doubt a milestone in modern music.

  • an amazing, amazing, an haunting album. it is so bad how overlooked it is. i know it's all about a woman on drugs. my question is does she kill herself in this song? i've heard that before and it seems to relate well to this song, the last one on the album.

  • I think this song is intended as Jim's reflection on the discord that leads up to, and followed, Caroline's suicide. I think her suicide occurs in the gap between 'The Kids' and 'The Bed' (which explicitly mentions her cutting her wrists with a razor). Excellent but very dark album, and yes, I agree that the biggest tragedy of the album is how overlooked it was on its release in '73.

  • Wow. Amazing to see this on YouTube. Very cool. I've always really loved the "Berlin" L.P., still do. 5*****'s.

    ~ Tim

  • yw!

Berlin is such a strong album! I saw him perform it over here a year ago; AMAZING!

There was another version here on youtube (the one with the tenniscourt..) but is has been removed so i thought i'd post it myself.

  • I remember the tenniscourt...I watched it several times.....it caught some emptiness, hard to explain. It was a brilliant idea, I just sat there mesmerized watching it...

Thanks a lot for uploading the song again!!!!

  • @gelekrijger13

this is actually an otis redding cover... I mean its great but yeat.

  • My favorite Lou Reed song. Thanks for the post.
