Not just interesting - it actually works. We've tested the Axion (now called the Data Store) for 13 consecutive months in our own office with a seed of about 193GBs of data. After 13 months of full daily backups, we consumed less than 1TB. To achieve the same 13 months of full backups on tape would have required in excess of 76 TBs. We had great expectations before we embarked on the road test, but we were still blown away by the actual performance. Of course dedupe is just one of the benefits.

I've been watching Avamar's backup solution/product for some time now. I'm glad that such a good product is out there.
It would be nice if the internet wasn't required to make the backup as well as if this product was available to everyone; not just businesses.
