I am 52 years old and John Denver was so much a part of me growing up because of his music. The day he died I was having my own crisis with alcoholism....Needless to say it was his death that made me want to get help and I did. Miss and love you John.
The world is worse off with the loss of such a good human being who happened to have a wonderful voice. I doubt he ever hurt a soul in his life. I liked this guy a lot. Im glad we still have all of your music to cherish John. Personally, I will miss you very much.
I always loved John Denver, from the very first time I heard him right up to now. He stood for something, and loved with his whole being. I think we could all learn alot from him.
During the late 70s, I lived in Aspen...and one fall afternoon I saw John Denver sing from the back of a flatbed truck in a sun-dappled meadow, performing for no money, but just to benefit the kids at a camp for deaf children. I tell you now, whether you like his songs or don't, every word John Denver sang came from his heart...every song was true to who he was. His music inspires me to try to be just a tiny fraction as genuine as he was. If that's what it means to be "uncool", sign me up!
It helps that John Denver was bron with a "pitch perfect" voice - once he tuned an RCA studio piano - using his voice - and a piano tuner that same day - said that every note was perfect on an oscillascope!!!!! So all John Denver did was sing of the things that he loved. He is also the 3rd highest selling singer of all time (240,000,000) - behind Elvis (1,600,000,000) and Michael Jackson (800,000,000)!!!!!!!!!
The 1st time I heard this song 30 odd years ago I played it over and over ....the years have not dimed the great lyrics or guitar composition....for me.the real sign of a song writing master.
I saw John in concert three times thru the years. He was always a master entertainer and part comedian when he wanted to be.. He sold out ORU Mabee Center (Tulsa) several times. I have never seen anyone who could hold the attention of a crowd like this man. This Old Guitar was 100% pure John Denver
Wow @johnyks55 This perticular version performed 06/18/88 Brisbane, Australia, Entertainment Center ..... I was at this very concert! .... Saw him three times in all. Two at Brisy Ent centre, and one at the Sydney Ent Centre. There'll never be another John Denver. Just like there will never be another Michael Jackson! Two very unique talents of immense ability!

I am sadden by the passing of Mr. John Denver. Thank God for the recording industry. I can revisit him whenever I want. RIP -John, we lost a lot when you passed on.........
Hi folks, this a wonderful song ffrom John, that meets all the minds of singers and their guitars like me. Thank you John for this kindly tune. Redwanderer
Yes JD is uncool - but cool is way overrated. Cool is for rap stars who preach sleaze and murder. John was and is a natural talent who could communicate like just about no one else. I love to hear him and see him smile.
@ddddfffss124 I started listening to him when I was 7 years old, I am now 44. I was teased all through school for listening and it never stopped me...
That I not fan do not cancel my valid relation to his life and creativity.
Good country-musicians seldom visited the USSR and Russia. And in a city in which I lived at the time of the USSR them never would pass. So chances to hear it practically was not. :-)
The beautifully seductive voice of John Denver imparts somthing to each chord...a glimmer of hope perhaps. So very talented!! I remember when it was very uncool to like John Denver...I always felt they judged him without listening to the merits of each song...a message...a touching song that imparts a sense of reality in the telling of the story!!!

They just don't make musicians like this anymore. His sound and creativity was just beautiful.

He only has to stand on his place and sing from his heart.

if michael jackson sold 800,000,000 units that means were 800,000,000 acts of unadulterated complete musical ignorance and retardation

Beautiful. My equal favourite artist, Johnny Cash being the other.
Being 24, I'm just bummed both went before I had a chance to see them live/get into their music.
