  • If you suspend all applications can a virus get in your computer or has appGuard already taken care of that.

  • @pdaddylemaddy If you suspend all, then all protection is disabled, so you can get infected.

  • My security IOLO says everything is fine on my computer , but i know its not, sick of buying new software only to b let down again.

  • AppGuard is very good program for all family.

  • i use appguard + mbam free. No antivirus

  • i use appguard. It is awesome

  • this would work good against the atapi rootkit that i seem to always have

  • I don't get it, does appguard prevent you from downloading anything? like a document or something similar, or just exe files?

  • is this virus protection or just malware protection?

  • too bad AppGuard seems to lock up the system

  • Though, I wish appGuard is free :(

  • Hey great vid. Right now i have threatfire and sandboxie running together. I was woundering should i replace one of these with appguard or should i just add apguard?

  • are you using a virtual machine?how you get it and where you get it?

  • hes using vmware i tink

    you can buy

    a free alternitive is virtualbox

another free, not so good is microsft virtualpc

  • VM Ware is free mate.

  • vmware viewer is free

you can only view stuff made by other people

whih means if you want to use windows, you would be breaking their tos

the vm ware creator is not free, unless you use the less than legal method(limewire or something)

    virtualbox is totatly free

  • I Know That The date of the video is old

but VMware player 3.0 if Same As VMware

    workstation but Free

  • where do u get VM Ware for free ?

  • This App is PERFECT for an Internet cafe or any business or University, School, College, etc. where PCs are used by many ppl. It should come with a password so it cannot be disabled by those users. Nice app.

  • Exactly. It would save a lot of money and give a lot more protection.

  • Can you use this with other security products?

  • LOL at all of these Windows security products. Why can't M$ just simply include a MAC system inside the kernel (like Linux does). At any rate, I wonder how inspired "AppGuard" was by Linux's "AppArmor?"

  • He would you be willing to do a tutorial on SAS's tools, especially the repair limit or no connectivity internet symbol.

  • Please go to The remove-malware forums to suggest a review.

  • Hey Matt, great review, as usual. You should re-review Avast sometime :D

  • He can do a review when avast 5 comes out :P but i think avast is like the 4th best AV

  • Matt

I have Spyware Doctor with Antivirus and Comodo Free Firewall. Am I protected?

  • nice review Matt, I like your videos a lot!!!!!

  • what SRP means?

  • Software restriction policies = SRP

For example, they can enforce a rule whereby any application launching from "My Documents" runs with least privileges, cannot write into "Program Files" or "Windows". One can add additional restrictions. Some say they are a bit tedious to set-up for newbies or suspend for people whose PCs change. There are some weaknesses to SRP but not so significant to worry. Choosing SRP has usability and conveniences issues, what doesn't.

  • Sounds like internet protected mode in internet explorer 7/8 in vista.

  • Dude I hate exploits. I got ran into one but luckily Eset protected me and the box kept coming up with random htmls. Very scary.

  • Matt all the Review you did for us, make me want to download everything...

    great Review!! 5star.

  • "Cuz those guys are kewl""

I lol'd at that one, mate!

  • Comparing Sandboxie, Gesswall, with AppGuard, which one use less computer resources?

Do you think AppGuard is better than Sandboxie or even Gesswall?

    Great video Matt! Thanks!

  • I personally have SRP and it blocks every drive-by download, period.

  • Would AppGuard be better than GeSWall?

  • They are similar. GesWall gives power-users more choices to customize restrictions per application but one may argue those confuse newbies or non-geeks. AppGuard appears to be more restrictive by default to applications such as Firefox, preventing self-updates. But, that also prevents Firefox from being coerced to turn Firefox into evil-Firefox. [insert creepy laugh]

  • Very good app to protect you from cyber threats for life, just don't be a dummy by disabling it on every install, you could even say this App is the type of app for users who only browse the web and dont download anything.

  • Hey Matt, Could you do a review on Windows Defender? I'd like to see what happens when malware try's to install its self when WinDefender real-time is enabled!

  • It's so crap that there is no point in reviewing it ;). Have seen way to many PC's infected with Windows Defender enabled. BTW WinDefender is a spyware so beware : )

  • lol when I said windefender I meant windows defender. And I just wanted to see how windows defender lets tones of spyware in!

  • lol read my comment again : )

  • Just got a new laptop and installed COMODO CIS 3.9 before even connecting to the internet - Loving it!

  • i hope he re-reviews avast soon

  • darkmastachief--some one posted a comment saying that he will

  • that was me....... lol

  • lollllll

  • why the heck are there so many Chinese links? and there are a lot of Russian links from the other vids.

  • sick vid matt

    *40th rate boo ya xD

  • i love his vid

    Thanks matt

  • great review, apgaurd seems to be a good progarm, but it has some flaws as it still downloads the .exe files

  • True, but eventually your signature-based anti-virus/spyware will detect/delete them. Meanwhile, AppGuard won't let them launch. Ideally, newbies would never know they were there. A good theory that, still, deleting those .exes would be an improvement, providing it could tell good from bad.

  • true, and i actually didnt know if it is compatible with signiture based anti-malware. but i guess you are right. thanks for agreeing.

  • Isn't this very much like sandboxie?

  • Nope! With sandboxie you can actually install applications, this one just blocks all applications. Its not that useful. You can just log in as a guest user in windows and not as an administrator and get the same result!

  • A 'guest user' can still launch, or a drive-by can still launch from user-space (desktop, my documents, etc.) to keylog, code inject, infect user files, act as a rogue web server, and more. AppGuard doesn't allow unknown Apps to launch at all. Sandboxie still rocks. AppGuard is meant to be easy to use.

  • i liked sandboxie at first than i ran my limewire sandboxed than open the my computer sandboxed and the thing took like 5 min to open a sandboxed version of my computer

  • Damn this guy is awesome. I watch all of his videos :).

  • so wtf is appguard? is it anti-virus or something?

  • It's a um, Anti-Melware.

  • It supplements your typical anti-virus/spyware, which stops known malware. AppGuard stops the unknown malware without asking people technical allow/deny questions.

  • another nice review matt,

the only problem is that an inexperienced user would disable it whenever they download something so that it would work, thus making it pointless.

    (i'm still voting for sandboxie)

  • You can still download stuff with it on, just not install it. And who installs programs 24/7?

  • OH GOOD VIDEO BTW 5/5

  • Why don't you do the old style testing?(installing it on a infected pc and letting it scan)

  • agreed

  • He already explained, your computer is so messed up when you got even a little infected that you have to use a bootable anti malware disc.

So he only reviews prevention software and bootable cds.

  • it would have been awesome if it could recognize legit apps some how.......and would have been nice if it sports a novice friendly interface......after all its a paid app...

  • The only problem is, I didn't see anything to prevent anyone form just turning off the protection. Is there some kind of password protection for the settings? I looked on the appguard website but I also could not find anything. If there isn't one, I'm sticking with comodo because you can't turn it off once set.

  • Nice

  • nice video matt!

    Keep up the good work!

  • Never heard of it......

  • cool video
