well considering there are mothers out there who dont do ANYTHING when their daughters tell them their dad/step dads are abusing them...she made him get help. She listened to her daughter and her daughter was able to talk to her.
Also, before he came back...she asked her daughter and got her assurance. Which means, she put her daughter first and kept her family together and got through this as a family.
Trust, she did a better job than mothers I come across who really dont give a shit
