It helps that many of these bands live in the same town as I do, or at least play here in Indianapolis every once in a great while. I naturally gravitate towards doom metal because of the power and emotion that is conveyed and it's a genre where there is good playing, but technical virtuosity is not the be all/end all, nor is all-out brutality. While I listen to music with both of these aspects, I don't want to hear them ALL the time.

earthride are pretty damn good, so are the gates of slumber, is saw them on tour together back in april this year. i was more impressed with Centurions Ghost, the band that opend for them, they were jaw droppingly good!!
