Hi troy2062 Im looking to buy the LG 2342P as i seen some sweet deals on ebay for it but befor i make my choice to buy could you tell me if its really needs that Tridef software for the 3D to work or is there a 3D settings in the monitor itself ???

I have a Panasonic 3D TV and that has settings for doing diffrent 3D stuff like side by side LtoR ect

So i thought i would see how it fairs on the PC , i have a ATI 6770 which is 3D too and also 3D blu ray player/burner on my PC .

No, it does not.

@troy2062 Actually there is a way to get it to work with passive 3d monitors. All you need to do is install an active 3d monitor driver, which contains EDID data that fool your NVIDIA driver into thinking you have a 3d Vision system. You can find the instructions to do so on the web. Hope that helps!

That is incorrect with respect to this monitor. The 2342P is capable of interlacing two 60Hz streams simultaneously in 3D mode, however it does not support a refresh rate of 120Hz.

@troy2062 Maybe I wasn't clear enough. You still watch the screen with passive glasses, so you don't have to have 120hz. What I meant was you just get access to the 3d vision options in nvidia control panel. ie. so that you don't have to use the

tridef software for gaming. ;)

hi, i have a question.. i have a gtx 550 ti. video card. and i am thinking to buy this monitor.

do i need the nvidia 3d vision to watch movies and play games 3D. and also in the package i saw that where include 2 3d glasses. what is the difference between them ?

You do not require NVIDIA 3D Vision. That is a form of active 3D, which relies on powered shutter glasses.

This monitor outputs two polarized images which are redirected to the corresponding eyes via passive polarized glasses.

That would depend on the monitor to which you compare it. The viewing angles are more than sufficient for most purposes.

Yes. Any linearly polarized 3D glasses are suitable.

@troy2062 thank you, but do you experience any ghosting? the 3D is fine on my ps3 and Xbox 360 but it doesn't seem to want to work when palying 3D content on my PC, i tried playing Skyrim and GTA 4 with Tridef. constant ghosting and was hard to see any details! tried tilting the angles of the screen and tried different positions but nothing :(

I try to launch PS3 3D compatible games (Crysis 2) or 3D blue ray films (Resident Evil 3D editon) connecting PS3 via hdmi socketu to DVI. Unfortunately any 3D option (side by side, top bottom, interlacing) doesn't ensure appriopriate picture.

Boot to the XMB and set the stereoscopic 3D mode of the monitor to "Interlace", then reboot the PS3. Upon booting a game which supports stereoscopic 3D, a dialog box will appear asking if you wish to enable it.

The microphone used in this video was the 550D's internal microphone. I usually record using the Rode Videomic.

I have never regarded 3D as being a gimmick, rather the way in which it has been delivered up to this point. To me, this monitor has been genuinely useful with regards to spacial acuity in my CGI work and (if incorporated properly) adds to the enjoyment factor of certain games.

Yes, as a 2D monitor it performs as well as any other mid-range LED display. Depending on your personal preference, the ability to view 3D content may simply be a bonus rather than the deciding factor as it does not negatively impact 2D performance.
