Hi, I have a question: I see that when you play, you leave the "harmony hole" (I don't know what it's called) open. But I have to cover it when I play, because if I don't, it would sound really awful. So, is there anyway to have harmony and sound great?
you could say i'm unstopping the drone pipe...does it sound out of tune when you open the hole? maybe the free reed inside is bent and is out of tune. or does it make a buzzing sound?
by the way, it drones at the relative minor for the key the flute is in, so there's no reason why it should sound bad if the reeds are in proper tune.
thanks for helping me out! I'm not sure if my reeds are out of tune, but is there any way to check? I guess since I'm still new at playing it, I should just stick with covering the hole. Thanks again for answering my questions.
oops, i didn't mean to remove your second comment. the second pipe is supposed to make only one tone. that's why it's called a "drone" pipe. it drones.
Suimeikai, if that is your real name, are very cool. The real question is: can you play chess and the Hulusi at the same time? I've seen Huun Huur Tu twice now!! You rock!!
cool. mine has only heard banjos and the dulcimer so far, when i take something along on a visit home, but he seems to suddenly remember some unfinished business elsewhere whenever the din begins
a lovely instrument and beautifully played
thanks for sharing this
