The only thing that can force them to learn and appreciate Cebuano language is that, if, for the next years to come, if Cebu becomes a rich province, richer than any province in the country, and if it will became an economic power in the nation, then the Tagalogs will flock to Cebu and they would work there.

I only added Spanish because it is a better replacement to Tagalog. Even Jose Rizal wrote in Spanish, and Jose Palma wrote our national anthem in Spanish. The Declaration of Independence from the United States was written in Spanish and English. Tagalog never really played a key important role.
Tagalos is the most pointless language I've ever learned. I'm a Filipino, born in Cebu, now living in Canada and Tagalog was pointless. I speak Cebuano at home, in Cebu I spoke Cebuano everyday, at school I speak English. Tagalog? Never became useful. I'd rather they make the official languages Spanish and English, like it was before, and regional languages should be recognized.

just to clarify, we tagalogs never imposed our language to anyone, it is the philippine government that do so. when bisakol heard the word philippine republic they easily associate it again with the tagalogs. the government was compose of politician from all over the country and as a matter of fact bisakols have more politicians than us. The only thing that can force them to learn and appreciate Cebuano language is that, if, for the next years to come, if Cebu becomes a rich province, richer than any province in the country, and if it will became an economic power in the nation, then the Tagalogs will flock to Cebu and they would work there.

I only added Spanish because it is a better replacement to Tagalog. Even Jose Rizal wrote in Spanish, and Jose Palma wrote our national anthem in Spanish. The Declaration of Independence from the United States was written in Spanish and English. Tagalog never really played a key important role.

Tagalos is the most pointless language I've ever learned. I'm a Filipino, born in Cebu, now living in Canada and Tagalog was pointless. I speak Cebuano at home, in Cebu I spoke Cebuano everyday, at school I speak English. Tagalog? Never became useful. I'd rather they make the official languages Spanish and English, like it was before, and regional languages should be recognized.

English and Spanish should be our language of communication. Tagalog and Cebuano should stay as regional languages where they hold official status in their respective regions. Basically, if you go to Cebu, the government uses Spanish, English and Cebuano. While in Manila, the government would use Spanish, English and Tagalog.

Base on everyone's comments, the only solutions are:
1) Keep Tagalog as the official language, but everyone should try to learn the languages of the region that they visit.
2) Have everyone learn a handful of Filipino languages. This should be government supported and financed.
3) Make a English the language of communication (lingua franca) of the Philippines.
4) Keep Tagalog as the official language, and the only language of communication in the Philippines with non-Tagalogs.

ang mga bisakol kasi galit sa tagalog pero sila din naman ang gumagamit ng tagalog tingnan mo ang ogag na to nag eenglish na kami tagalog pa rin ang reply hahaha!! nakapunta na ako ng iloilo city puro tagalog ang kanta sa radyo, sa cebu city tagalog din ang kanta. nagpunta ako ng davao city yung iba bisalog ang salita, nakakarelate ako. sa bohol naman asar sila sa superiority complex ng mga taga cebu they even call cebuanos jambug or hambog hahaha!!

sa mindanao mismo mga bisaya ang nag iingitan. sila sila nag engitan nag aaway mga cebuano waraywaray at ilunggo. sabi ng ilonggo matapang sila sabi ng waray mas matapang sila. yan ang sakit ng bisaya gusto sila magaling kaya inggit sa tagalog. if ever na matuloy ang sinasabi ni Tagalog11 na magkanya kanya bansa ang pilipinas im sure with the help of malaysia malipol ang mga bisaya sa mindanao.

just to clarify, we tagalogs never imposed our language to anyone, it is the philippine government that do so. when bisakol heard the word philippine republic they easily associate it again with the tagalogs. the government was compose of politician from all over the country and as a matter of fact bisakols have more politicians than us. It is a government effort not a common interest amongst the tagalog people. so putting the blame on us was just a plain bigotry.

sabi ni tandang buenaventura pag daw tagalog punta in cebu dapat daw magbisaya, bakit tagalog lng pinag iinitan nya???? malay nya kung yung mga nagtatagalog sa cebu ay coming from bicol. ilocos etc. since marunong din nman sila magtagalog. ngayon nasa Laguna ako nakabase, pero kung talagang nasa US ka pwede ka namang pumunta sa brother ko sa Crescent City north coast California, marami ang mag tagalog doon mostly from laguna and cavite im sure papayag sila sa friendly debate mo. kahit sa public place nyo pa ganapin.
