The only thing that can force them to learn and appreciate Cebuano language is that, if, for the next years to come, if Cebu becomes a rich province, richer than any province in the country, and if it will became an economic power in the nation, then the Tagalogs will flock to Cebu and they would work there.

I only added Spanish because it is a better replacement to Tagalog. Even Jose Rizal wrote in Spanish, and Jose Palma wrote our national anthem in Spanish. The Declaration of Independence from the United States was written in Spanish and English. Tagalog never really played a key important role.
Tagalos is the most pointless language I've ever learned. I'm a Filipino, born in Cebu, now living in Canada and Tagalog was pointless. I speak Cebuano at home, in Cebu I spoke Cebuano everyday, at school I speak English. Tagalog? Never became useful. I'd rather they make the official languages Spanish and English, like it was before, and regional languages should be recognized.

English and Spanish should be our language of communication. Tagalog and Cebuano should stay as regional languages where they hold official status in their respective regions. Basically, if you go to Cebu, the government uses Spanish, English and Cebuano. While in Manila, the government would use Spanish, English and Tagalog.

What's to respect? Tagalog did not play any important role in history. Our history is written in Spanish, not in Tagalog. Jose Rizal and Jose Palma spoke and in wrote Spanish. I only added Spanish because it is a better replacement to Tagalog. Even Jose Rizal wrote in Spanish, and Jose Palma wrote our national anthem in Spanish. The Declaration of Independence from the United States was written in Spanish and English. Tagalog never really played a key important role.

I speak Cebuano at home, in Cebu I spoke Cebuano everyday, at school I speak English. Tagalog? Never became useful. English and Spanish should be our language of communication. Tagalog and Cebuano should stay as regional languages where they hold official status in their respective regions. Basically, if you go to Cebu, the government uses Spanish, English and Cebuano. While in Manila, the government would use Spanish, English and Tagalog.

puro gulo lang ang binibigay nyo,at sinong nagsabi sayo na gusto naming maging national language ang cebuano? hindi lang namin gusto na sa sarili naming region isasaksak nila sa aming baga ang stupid nilang language! wala naman kaming pakinabang sa language na yan! buti pa ang inglis kahit saan sa mundo magagamit mo! pero ang tagalog?magagamit ko ba yan sa labas ng pilipnas? now, why would i want to learn tagalog language if i dont have use for it?
