  • The Saba Bank has been declared a protected area from anchorage of tankers and large ship.

  • Pretty awful the way people abuse nature and think nothing of it. The comments this video has just about prove how stupid the collective human race is.

  • Ok, it's an anchor and chain....so? Tree hugging going submerged now? news flash genius. It's been like that LOOOOOONG before you were born and will go on LOOOOONG after you pass on. They were doing it as far back as men sailed the sea. Just because you got all upset over it and shot a video won't stop them from doing it.

  • Simple solution: fixed moorings.

Dropping anchor in coral reefs is the maritime equivalent of slash and burn agriculture. Except it takes a lot longer to grow coral than a forest. Outdated, irresponsible, and unnecessary. Commercial vessels stop repeatedly in the same place; placing a fixed mooring is a simple, cheap solution that's actually safer for the vessel.

  • @actaeon1955 Do you realise that a ship is actually floating without ANY control, when it doesn't drop anchor? You want it to float away to the sea or worse, hit something/someone? Good thinking -.-

  • sad

  • guess what retards, that's how you stop a boat...

  • @Fall3nQc

    You are such a TOOL

    Get Real

  • it's ruining the coal beds

  • @Ryansussman86 imagine what it is doing to the coral as well.

  • Thats not such a big ship, thats baby chain, probally not even "1! Big chain is 5-1/4" open link; each link is over 400lbs.

  • Too bad it didn't kill a mermaid on the way down...

  • I've anchored a fair few ships but that's the first time I have seen what it actually looks like under the water, impressed the anchor did what it is supposed to do. Looks text book.

  • Thank you for a wonderful video showing just how effective that particular anchor design is.

  • I found a reef captain...now lets destroy it with the anchor!

  • lol cut it to piss them off

  • you are all smoking crack

    anchors sex with men?

    pay to enchor?

    3000 anchors? not enough . . . .OVER 9000!

    DESU, DESU, DESU!

    also rule 34

    fagots

  • @originalanthraxtony excuse me, but with 3000 anchors thats a power lvl of 3000. Add to that the reef eating capabilities of said anchors and thats well over 6000. WITH THE POISIONING OF SAID ANCHORS!!!!! pfft.....easily over 9000....should have taken badass reef eating math 101 in college. nub.

  • they should have anchored it to a couple sperm whales instead - I hate people who dont give a damn about sea bottom................ just a joke !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!dont bother sending reply unless funny

  • lol

  • fucking hippies....guess what....just because of this video...

IM PUTTING 3,000 ANCHORS ON MY BOAT and they are going to be covered with coral reef eating spikes and poison and im going to decorate my boat with the rotting corpses of manatees, narwhals, and any other seagoing endangered species.

  • Wow 3,000 anchors, thinking maybe that just might sink the boat, thanks for the new artifical reef.

  • omfg. warning marijuanah damages the brain

  • @slundvall 1.) it;'s a rather large boat 2.) who said how big the anchors were? could be 2lb. canoe anchors for all you know....the spikes and the poison do most of the damage anyways 3.) IF, AND ONLY IFFF my boat were to sink...I would rip that shit up with boat-eating razor spiked, demolition anchors anyways....thus, no artificial reef.

  • @forza267 hell yes :D:D:D me too

  • @forza267 That's seriously one of, if not THE most hilarious comment I've ever seen on YT.

  • @raVen670 you are classy...I shall take you on an endangered species burning trip where we can destroy as many reefs as we want to...

  • @forza267 Fuck You. Permanent Moorings are the way to go... Just Sayin...

  • @lakewood85 Fuck me? No good sir, fuck you

  • @forza267 Well than be a fuckin landlubber, u gotta have respect for the oceans if you wana be w/ mothernature on the oceans

  • @shorerydr10 I've been on the ocean plenty of times.....never saw mother nature while I was out there but I have a few razor spiked, poisoned, mother nature eating anchors too....so fear not. BTW fuck your Prius...(just assuming)

  • @forza267 I bet you aint.

  • @wks1978 you bet I "aint" ? hah too late its already been done...your friend Mr. Narwhal said to please help him right before I jammed one of those reef eating poisoned anchors into his face.

  • anchors are sex with men

  • chain it down if it makes you sad

  • Pay to anchor at Statia....

  • What else they can do?

  • @Borisslavosk, dynamic positioning? ;)

  • @tupsumato Yes, maybe ...BUT it probably cost a ''lot'' for using this kind of system (type of config for the propellers and thrusters, keeping the engine running *Fuel economy*) , but thanks for this i've never think about it.

  • @Borisslavosk, I know that it's not feasible for cargo ships - that's why there was the smiley. However, "high profit" ships like cruise ships could use it (and I believe that they already do, to some degree, since many are equipped with Azipods) in vulnerable sea areas.

  • Fuck sake...I'm never anchoring my boat again if this is the damage it does!

  • parece ke garreo un pokito

  • This video, has helped me with my assignment. Thanks for putting it up.

At 1:59 did the anchor seriously split that bit of coral?

  • Actually not coral but a barrel sponge. Yes the chain of the anchor did wipe out the sponge. Glad the video was useful
