@jedijones I want to correct you in that he added about $4 trillion of debt and left almost $15t in our generation's name, and no republican voted into office actually has fixed the debt. gingrich's neoconservative views would endanger this even further, however, his supporters are actually people promoting social democracy at the expense of lessening the voice of liberal democracy. the reality is that newt gingrich is still no better than big name republican candidates. he's awful.

Gingrich was largely responsible for ending decades of Democrat control over the House of Representatives. Democrats came to look on the house as theirs by right and they will never forgive Newt for having the audacity to dare and take it from them. They will repeat any lie, make up any charge, twist any fact to try and destroy him for taking away what they think belongs to them.

As always, Matthews got it exactly wrong. First of all, Newt hasn't "been on the political scene" for a large number of years. If you want nasty, look no further than Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Mr. Obama. At least with Newt he tried to save the country from deficit growing liberal programs and tax increases for transfers of wealth (and Bill went along). Then we have Barney. One of the main instigators of the housing crisis and the over regulation that now stifles the country from economic growth.
