@doctorw2 It did not suffer from lazy uncreative writers. It was exceptional the first season with the original writers, but the lead writer/developer was fired in season 2 because they *wanted* lazy uncreative writers ... it was then that the show began to suffer. Read Coda if you want to see where it was really headed.
This show possibilly had the greatest potential to become the Star Trek of our generation. I remember watching the first season on TV and being wowed by the integrated plotlines and acting. Then season 2 started off pretty good. Then I remember the episode with Sorbo's wife and it just went downhill after that. Such wasted potential.
Andromeda is not the best series ever, it is not the smartest, not the funniest and definitely not very coherent. Still, I love it and season 1's theme is awesome. Reminds me about Mass Effect someways...
@williamskidfears Well, fourth season of Andromeda is waaay better than the second season of SeaQuest! As if that is a redeeming quality... ;)
I found that while your statement is true for the average episode, there were some gems in the fourth season and some really shitty episodes in the first.
even just the speech makes you think alot abotu stuff even though it isn't real shows how one person or group of people if they believe in something can truely change stuff
Yes, but it's a shame what that damn producers made to Andromeda...they transformed a really epic tv- series in a show centered in Kevin Sorbo's character. AND the last season of Andromeda were too boring...
Yes,but the worst part was that they left many questions unanswered: Tyr Anasazy is really death? And what happen to Tyr's son, Tamerlane? The Magog (and the Nietzscheans) are still a threat? And what will happen to the Systems Commonwealth now that Tarn-Vedra was again connected to the rest of universe? We need answers to these questions.
@doctorw2 indeed, it had so much potential it could be the new babylon 5 and kill star trek, but writers had to jerk off instead of making a good progression and screw the entire well established plot basis they made. Also add the actors that decided to split up too son and it was messed up later on, litteraly going nowhere and having a pretty random and depressing rushed ending.
@doctorw2 More like they sacked the original writer because he didn't want to conform to making the show more 'marketable' and shit. And replaced him with more cooperable writers. After that such things as 'continuity' and 'consistent characterisation' not to mention 'interesting plotlines' where a thing of the past. It's a shame to, it did have potential.
@doctorw2 Hey, it had good writers for the first two seasons...
Then they left because Kevin Sorbo and the execs insisted the story be more episodic and centered around his character, instead of having story arcs and a diverse cast.
@doctorw2 I wouldn't blame the writers as much as the studio itself. If I'm not mistaken "the dead zone" series was by that studio and that was fantastic writing
@doctorw2 It's too bad that Kevin Sorbo decided he wanted to be executive producer. If they'd let Robert Hewiit Wolfe in charge it would have been a classic.
Tyr left show became epic fail.

This theme song is so much better than the rest of the series. Oh well.

"The Long Night has come..."
This is the opening and theme that really takes me back to when the show was still full of promise and wonder.
When I listen to this, I can almost forget the regrettable path the show took.

Lifeson ftw!!! I always blaired the song when it came on. I wish they kept this as their theme for the whole show.

@KingKulltheGreat Kevin Sorbo hated Lifeson's tune so that's why they changed it.

@Adrianrulz Sad when a C-grade actor has more authority than an A-plus musician.

@williamskidfears I don't think Kevin is a C grade actor but yea this tune was badass.

Gone from a pretty good credit sequence with a good narrative (season 1) to an absolutely garbage daytime TV style... yuck (season 2/3/4/5).

I have to agree...the intro for the season 1 was epic, but the intros for the season 2,3,4 and 5 were weapons- grade garbage! XD

Agree, the show become too strange and the biggent mistake in my opinion, they forget the
commonwealth, it takes remuve with the paranoic evil and all but well. Still great show but pretty sad what they did with it on the last season's.

@doctorw2 not really true since many in the first series were scifi writers. It was overhauled and ended up being Hercules in Space.

It kinda does get back to having story arcs and being episode to episode but I still think the characters could have been handled better.
