"So Solid Crew... They were taking British hip-hop in an interesting direction, what happened to them? Let's have a whip-round, see if we can't get them to come out again and drive around."
Everyone always says Armando Iannucci is underrated, which is not true at all. It just isn't comedy for the masses. Anyone who likes slightly left-field comedy will hail Iannucci, so it winds me up when people act like no one knows who he is. He's not meant to be Jack Whitehall. I think he's a god but he's not underrated.
I'd love if after he said 'you've pressed the red button, now here is something of no value' it just went to a scene of david dickonson reading aloud russell brand's 'my bookie wook'.
If you haven't seen Armando Iannucci's previous work you should check it out. He was a writer for "The Armando Iannucci Shows", "The Day Today", "Time Trumpet" and "The Thick of It" - some of the funniest shows I've seen. You can watch them on Youtube or, better still, pick them up for next to nothing on Amazon (£3.99 for "The Armando Iannucci Shows" for example). Stewart Lee is certainly an outstanding comedian, but the other criminally under-rated genius in this video should not be forgotten.
I have never seen Stewart Lee almost cracking up, but during the So Solid Crew's message he is blatantly trying to look down to stop laughing...With Armando Ianucci trying his best to catch his eye. Fucking hilarious.
I can't recall the source but I heard that Stewart Lee was quoted as saying series 2 of Comedy Vehicle, currently being pieced together, will be 'even more annoying'.
So Solid Crew actually have a new single out. Stewart Lee should demand some kind of promotional royalties or alternatively appear onstage as their hypeman
If you're going to call someone a name, at least use the "reply" option. Otherwise the person you're insulting won't even get to read it, unless he revisits the page.
Though it is apt that you didn't reply directly...the logic being that if you insult someone on BBC2, you presume they won't get to hear about it if they're on BBC1. There's a certain amount of cowardice there.

No, I'm not a twat...but you are a hypocrite & lack integrity because you talk about "not being obnoxious & rude" in front of someone you have been obnoxious & rude about elsewhere, whilst being obnoxious & rude to someone you have never met.
It's easy to be "edgy" when the target of your barbs is not present physically.
Where it all comes unstuck for this argument is that Armando was probably told by BBC people (who pay his wages) to appear on the OneShow. The bringing up of the subject of Chiles being compared to a toby jug full of hot piss isn't exactly a suitable topic of conversation at 7pm on a weeknight in the BBC's eyes I would imagine.
Hopefully, Armando would of taken every op to be "rude" to Chiles off camera, thus making all of this much much funnier than it already is.
It's up to Chiles to bring it up, he was probably afraid to bring it up because it's obviously true. WHy would would Armando say "Did you see Stew Lee's comedy vehicle, he slagged you off. It was funny, wasn't it?".
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Neither of them would mention it, but for Iannucci to appear alongside him & act as if he had not produced a programme in which the host of the programme he is a guest on was attacked lacks character.
If you're pushing the parameters of comedy, you need to be fearless...he had every opportunity to prove how fearless he could be...but bottled it.
I don't agree - I love innovative comedy but I'm not so bothered about pushing parameters and 'bottle' or proving you're fearless by going on 'The One Show' and insulting your hosts or arguing with them. If I wanted contrived sensationalism I'd watch Sasha Baron-Cohen doing an interview for T4. Armando is a professional that's why he's so good at television. ("he's good at television, he's so good at television"...)
It's a joke about Chiles, just like jokes he makes about loads of other comedians and contemparies - just jokes! I'm sure some other comedians get it.
Adam Buxton's input is clear, but I think he wants you to figure it out for yourselves so don't make it implicit in the comments. Black Squadron will get it instantly of course. 'What's Black Squadron' I hear you say? Well it's like the Bullingdon club for people with genitalia.
I love all three people featured in this video so very much. Thanks a lot for being hilarious!
This is absolutely priceless. As with a lot of Stew's talking head bits on Time Trumpet, I can't imagine how they both keep a straight face doing this!

It's the only way to deal with retard arguments like the one I was replying to.
I wouldn't class correct spelling, paragraphs and common sense as snobbery, the opposite in fact, I would think it to be quite normal.
markushollywood 2 years ago
You think that saying "piss" at 7pm on a little known bonus feature on interactive TV is such an offence that you have to comment about it.
You haven't really a clue about just how much shit (gasp) happens in the world otherwise you wouldn't have made such a snobbish comment.
Why don't you put on the News and start whining about real injustices.
YouKnowWhereThisEnds 2 years ago
No, the comment previous to mine was asking why Armando didn't compare him to a toby jug full of hot piss to his face while on the one show.
The one show is at 7, so I said that Armando would probably show more tact, as would the program makers themselves.
No where did I complain about the word Piss being used before watershed, as mater of fact I encourage it.
And this little interactive bonus feature was shown around 9, so it wouldn't be a problem.
Learn to read.
