  • Am I like, mentally retarded because I can't get this?! I've tried it SO many times!! Someone HELP ME!! LOL. I'm getting so freaked out about a paper crane...

  • If you're struggling, orient the paper the exact same way as on the video and turn it every way she does. Don't worry about listening to what she's saying, but watch really carefully and pause it to do the folds. That helped me when I went wrong.

  • i do every fricken step like 10 time but the pulling apart one doesnt work ><

  • Doesn't work. Did everything you said

  • I like it because i been looking for it

  • mush better than the other crane one you did :) i understood and my crane didnt turn out to bad :D, ill keep precticing though i as i folded one thing wrong but it still turned out ok :) x

  • great video thank you so much, it took me some time, then i used a harder papper, and it just fell in to place!

  • I read the part about not being a beginner shape after the fact. Oh well, worked out anyway. Thanks :)

  • I just cant do it! ); I am actually cryin. I've tried more than 20 videos. ); 8:49 is stupid. );

  • @msreserved Remember this is not a beginner shape. You shouldn't start here - start with the cup, and the dove, and some of the other shapes to get the hang of the basics. You need to practice those basics first. Sort of like practicing skiing on the easy slopes before you tackle the straight-down-the-hill one! Let me know how you do on those basic shapes first!

  • I just cant do it! ); I am actually cryin. I've tried more than 20 videos. );

  • Thank you very much for these helpfull intructions!

I have always wanted to learn how to fold an origami crane, but I always found the instructions too difficult. Now my freshly made origami crane is right beside me and I am so proud! Thank you!

  • Got it(:-!

  • when you say to fold it inside out, your hands cover the paper and I can't see where im supposed to fold.

  • your cranes are so pretty compared to mine ill defiantly watch all your videos for origami instructions :)

  • Very helpfull, I didit on my first attempt! Thank you!

    Greetings from Croatia!

  • did not help hate it hate it hate it

  • @allisonrocks427 Did you start with the easier designs first? Remember origami is a skill so it's good to work your way up! Did you try the cup and the dove first?

  • @lisasheaorigami a skill? i didnt do either of the things you mentioned and i learned to do this in elementary school but i forgot and as far as i know i followed the exact same steps on every video and it came out looking like some cripple deformed bird with both wings on one side of its body

  • @cmsmiley13 Dear CMSmiley13 - Yes definitely learning how to manipulate tiny pieces of paper with exact folds and lines can be challenging to learn, and we often start with little kids because they have tiny fingers! It can be much harder for adults. I suggest practicing with the more simple shapes because that helps you get the alignment skills perfected, which are then necessary on this shape. Post on the other forms how you do there and we'll get you on the road to success!

  • @lisasheaorigami i finaly got it and ha! i didnt even have to do other shapes like you said

  • @cmsmiley13 That's fantastic news - congratulations!

  • I am having trouble making it to 5:17. I keep on trying but it isnt working!

  • @DUDEJUSTSTOPTALKING Did you practice with the other shapes first? Try the dove and cup and get those down they help teach some of the folds in an easier way. Good luck!

  • @DUDEJUSTSTOPTALKING I was having trouble too, you have to crease them VERY sharply

  • ..*sob*..i did it ..i actually did it!*sob*..im so happy!!!!..i thought i would never get it right...*sob* thank you!!T_T

  • thank you very much, this really helped.

  • THANK YOU! I really got how to do this after a little time! Thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • Yay :D! It worked!

  • Ok. So after making my first crane, (I paused and played the video a lot) I can't stop making them. SO FUN. :D

  • I enjoyed this tutorial. Slow enough for me. Thanks! :)

  • Thanks soooo much! this was a great video!

  • Where do you get your origami paper?

  • i still find it hard maby coz i am only 10

  • Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!!! I couldn't figure out how to do this by any other video because they wouldn't say what they were doing and were going wayyyy to fast! So thank you so very very much! I couldn't have completed my first crane without your vid! Thanks again!!!!!!

  • Really good instructions I was able to make 3 so far 2 by watching your video then one without having to watch it, the only time I had trouble with was at 2:50 when the square is flat on the ground and your turning it around I wasn't able to tell which way the opening was so I folded it backwards on my first one and had to go back a few steps but good instructions thanks!

  • I just made my first origami crane! Thank you so much for this video, it's amazing for beginners like me :D

  • Thank you so much for doing this for us. I have tortured so many paper squares to find a crane and I finally did! The origami instruction books show how to make a crane with ten lined illustrations. Impossible! You didn't have to do this. You must've known that there are people who would like to join the ranks of Origami Crane Makers. I'm glad to be one of the few. Thanks again.

  • God, thank you. My 16 year old friend Tia had a brain tumor and she had it removed and they found out that it probably was cancer related. I'm in Japanese (so is Tia) and my sensei, me, and two other students had decided to fold 1,000 paper cranes for her. Your video helped us tons. :) I hope the cranes help her feel better through her treatment. Thank you so much.

  • ... okay ive replayed the part where you turn the crane inside out multiple times.. and i still am not exactly sure what you mean...

  • Thanks :D I Finally can do origami crane :DD

  • why is chopin etude op.10 no.1 playing in the background??? lol.. good video for crane...

  • Thank you so much for your excellant instructions - very clear and great to follow with all the angles seen.

Scray thinking of me trying to make 1000 of them though - I better not be in too much of a rush to make my wish - I think it will take me awhile. :) :)

Thanks again, really appreciate your efforts.

    Best wishes, Ayles

  • I finally got it but, honestly, you don't make it easy. You forget that people are doing this for the first time. The first mistake is when folding the side points to the centerline, you don't explain which side points. Then at the end, instead of explaining how to turn it "inside out" you start explaining what to do if you messed up as you continue to do new steps without explaining them. You should have paused to explain if you messed up, then continued and explained what you were doing.

  • @bsj2312 Remember that I only have 10 minutes to work with. I can't go any slower than this! I can't pause more!

  • :] I got it right on the first try thanks for the thorough instructions. But I kept getting the vibe that you're scolding the viewer =\

  • That was fun and relaxing. Got it right on the second attempt, smegged up at 2.45 with the first one. Still tricky to do with ordinary notepad paper though.

I assume the real origami paper is a sort of rice-paper?

  • Really origami paper is just like thin copy paper, and some fancy origami paper is like thick bond paper. So any paper is fine!

  • Thanks!

Still, I'll probably will try to get some of that ''official''

origami paper. The finished product looks so much better with those fancy prints on them.

The main reason why I had some difficulty with the note-pad paper was the 3 by 3 inch size. (first thing I could grab when I saw your vid, just had to try it. :] )

  • I got it the second try! I was doing it backwards, to mimic your video lol. Mine look good, thank you!

  • I'm glad you figured it out. Yes doing it backwards is a common mistake. Make sure you have the open ends matching mine!

  • Ok, i totally dont understand 4:32, my opening is on the opposite side? The end shes opening is a cone to me, with no opening.. do i do the opposite side instead?

  • 5:20 I can't never get it to crease down correctly...

  • got very confused near 4:25-ish ?:( didnt know were to pull &fold over. but very good & easy video to follow

  • I fold my origami on a go board to!! it's nice and flat. but not to nice when you are using a square bigger than 12"

  • Great lesson thanks! I had a hard time doing something, only because it froze and I was just folding, my crane doesn't sit up, but it's the second thing I've made in two days!

  • i ment 30 mins *kinda sleepy

  • yay i made a dollar crane which took about 3mins to do

  • the video is actually really helpful. but my crane came out like all crooked and stuff. nice vid though. thanks!

  • first try,1st crane, cheers

  • THank you very much this one of the few oragami videos I understand 5/5 now I can finally get my wish :-)

  • I get lost at 4:38 over and over---damn! It;s not opening into a diamond shape.

  • cool but the last two minetes froze

  • Yeah this is the easiest to follow origami instruction video I've seen even easier than paper! Thx for this

  • In fairness to Lisa, I should say that this is the best of the "make a crane" videos I've seen. I think Lisa is a good narrator and should consider re-filming the video to make the moves a bit more clear. Anyway, thank you Lisa!

  • This video single-handedly taught me to fold a paper crane.

    Thanks!

  • 5.20 is confusing

  • nice vid helped me alot!!!!!!!!

  • I made it all by MYSELF! Thank you ever so much.

  • ffs im shit cant even fucking do it. i fail :(

  • Thank you so much! Now i can fold paper cranes,i am going to fold 1000 to wish for a person i liked to be happy and healthy.

  • yay i got it i tired twice but i finally made one

    Thank you so much!

  • Remember this isn't an easy shape! Start with the cup and dove to get the hang of folds and work your way up to this one. You can do it!

  • forget the coment on the last one plz i had it the wrong way + i have a very very very very very very bad temper

  • Thank you, very tricky, took some time and shouting but I got it! =)

  • It's the 3rd crane i've made...did you know if you make 1,000 cranes you get a wish?

Thank you for this video, it was super e-Z!!!

    Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • danget I lost you at 4:33

  • same here.... wtf do you pull apart i dont understand

  • this was a very good video and thankyou.

  • I am going to try and make my wish come true this year I hope

  • My creases aren't creasing. My creases aren't creasing!!!

It's harder to make small cranes with little pieces of paper. But, of course, a big crane has to have baby cranes, right?

  • @silvaslash I SO agree. :)

  • u made it sooooo much ez-er

  • Thank YOU!!! Your video was the easiest to follow!

  • yay i made one tryed to make another but couldnt ill try tommrow

  • I'm glad you worked through it! A crane is not the easiest shape. If you are new to origami, start with the easier shapes and work your way up to this one.

  • lol i am new and this was the first shape i have ever done but thank you for takeing your time to show us how and what are some other simple shapes?

  • do u know how to make a rose i want to know because its easy to learn from u

  • and i mean the new kawasaki rose

  • wow thanks lisa i too had problems at 4;30 but i realized that where yours opened up mine did not so i had to start over and fold in the opposite direction. i got it now! thanks so much!!!!!!

  • Wow. This was really helpful! Learned it with one paper and it was my first time ;D

Had to fiddle around with the part where you turn the paper inside out but i managed to understand you. =]

  • Yipee!!! OMGsh! Thank you!!! *hugs* I have been staring at the *&^%$# origami book for the whole night, and finally decided to turn to yuoutube ^.^ Thank you!!

  • completely lose me at 4:30. which sucks because ive wanted to make one of these things for years

  • Make the creases REALLY sharp. You should have a triangle set of creases. Then take the point of the flap of paper and pull it gently towards the other point. You will see the paper naturally fold along those creases.

  • Thx for helping me do a crane Lisa and also my name is Lisa too ^_^ bb

  • The inside out part isn't shown as well as the other parts, but if you guys have enough paper, just mess around a little you'll get the end result ^^. I had to start over once, but luckily it was quite early on, so I only needed one piece of paper (I was shocked). Probably took me 20 mins, but I think, now, I can do it quicker!

The reason I used one piece of paper and the reason it was so easy for me: PRAYER. Seriously. lol

  • You're the first person to actually make sense explaining how to make these things! Yay! ^_^

  • Thanks I finally made it and got extra credit for Japanese class, I'd say this is the best step by step intructions on YouTube for a Crane!

  • I still don't get it

  • i dont either but im still trying to get it

  • Benn trying it now for a few days and its going great untill i turn it "inside out", havent mastered that part yet, but its still fun to do and if I can get one just right I'm going to give it to my girlfriend

  • now im mr scofield

  • THis is the best so far, very clear untill the inside out part at 7 minutes thats when i lost it, but gonna try again and do my folds a bit better this time.

  • i messed up at the end but after watching like 300 times i got it thanks

  • oh thanks, now i know that ive been making the paper crane wrong

  • soooo slow!!! jk

  • you rock, i went to like 30 videos and your the only one that made me get it!!!! YOU ROCK YOU PERSON!xD

  • the hardest part was the inside-out-thing.

but then i got it and now i can make a crane whenever i want! xD THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

  • i have make origami and lot of cranes 1000-2000 and the inside-out fold is hard

  • god bless u

  • I have been looking in books and at other videos repeatedly... your video is the only one that was clear enough for me to follow!

I did it with plain paper for the first test run, but I plan to pick up origami paper soon. Having tried it now, I understand now why that works better. It's not just a crease, but a crease the will bend both ways. Normal paper doesn't do that.

Anyway, thank you so much! I've always wanted to know how to make a crane! XD

  • Absolutely awesome. Did it first time. The only slightly confusing part was the inside out fold right at the end but that was only because I didnt watch you properly.

Basically make 2 squares and then a kite, then another kite then end. I loved it. I am gunna practice until perfect and then move onto something harder :D ...

You have gained a new follower :)

  • Lol i g2 restart good job!!!!!!!!

  • i got it finally!!!!!!!!

  • I love the Go board

  • OMFG i made one!!! and danielle's looks like crap!!!

  • thank you so much! this helped me alot, though i still need alot of practice! :)

  • Excellent, I wanted to make one of these for my girlfriend as she loves prison break, so i followed this using a piece of A4 printer paper, which i squared off and it worked first time! Few little problems but easy enough to correct, thanks a lot!!!

  • haha thats why i want to make one too!

  • OMFG where can i get origami paper? i really need to know!! love the slow version its awesome and again i cant do 4:50

  • You don't necessarily need origami paper to do this. You can measure copy paper or even wrapping paper to the right size (Usually 12 cm or 6 inches), and start folding. But you can get origami online (Ebay) or you can go to regular arts and crafts stores such as Michael's to get it. Good luck!

  • im origami impaired ='[ nice video though!

  • i keep geting stuck at 4:50

  • Are you sure you have origami paper and are making very sharp creases? If so, what is happening during that part?

  • thanx alot.. i get it in the 1st time cauz of ur simple n great way of teaching! keep up the good work.

  • Arrgh I must keep doing it wrong cos at 4.50 I just have folds at the top & bottom.. so there's nothing to pull apart :'(

  • Go back to spot 2:12. Make sure the open side of your diamond is at the BOTTOM when you fold the left bottom edge in to the center line and the right bottom edge in to the center line.

  • I managed to get right up to 8.20 then got totally lost lol. And you're right it does go into a mush! I left plenty of space between the centre line though.

  • wow i made my first piece of origami! thank you so much! i got so stuck on 4:50 but a bit of pausing and rewinding helped me through! great vid :D!

  • Thank you sooooo much Lisa for teaching me...you made it slow and easy to learn !! Thanks :D

  • nice video very detailed and worth 5 stars for sure.

  • This looks good. My grandson wanted to learn how to do origami. Now, maybe he can do some.

  • Thanks alot for this instruction video.

  • i tryed 14 times and i did it thanks

    Respect for you

  • thanks! this is awesome and really helps! 5star!(p.s its the best cranemaking vid ever)

  • lost me at 4:50 :( what sides!!?!? Do I take apart one of the sides!?!?! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

  • It sounds like you're new to origami :) Start with the cup, then the dove, then some of the other simpler shapes. When you come back here this will make much more sense to you!

  • thank you so much for this video!

  • Thank you so much! I was trying to follow a written tutorial and was getting nowhere. Yours was really helpful and easy to understand and follow~ :]

  • Thanks for the clear instructions!

  • Thank you SO MUCH! I've always wanted to make the crane, and I appreciate you taking the time to go through it in such detail for all us newbies. =D

  • Thanks for making the slower version I'm getting pretty good at this

  • beautiful, i made smaller

  • if you're having problems with following the turning it inside out thing, you're probably doing it right, but its just difficult to do because the earlier folds are too close together, and will take some finesse to fold the other way. i didn't understand it either, but then i kinda just forced it to fold inwards and it worked!

  • hmm... now to make 1000 of them so i can get a wish! ^_^

  • Thank you so much for this video! I tried so many tutorials, but I always got lost.

  • I don't get the whole 'turning it inside out' bit at the end...

  • This is a complex shape - try starting with the other shapes first - the cup, the fish, the dove and so on. Get those down. Then do this one again - and use *really* sharp creases. Watch what happens to the sides as you pull those points out slowly.

  • Manage to get there with the crane, will go to basics to get better though. I really am sorry for being rude in earlier comment, feeling really bad for that now! Videos really are very useful and muchly appreciated

  • sorry didn't mean to be so explicit, is just that its 1am and I shall now not sleep until I do this!

  • Yes!! :D Thank you, finally even I could do one

  • 4 me it is a little to slow but i already no how to do it from my friend. he taught me to do a real cool dragon out of paper

  • If this one is too slow, I do have the "normal speed" version for you! This one is explicitly slow to help out newbies.

  • your videos are pleasantly sedating.

  • you evil evil paper waster!

  • LOL use junk mail if you want, that way you are putting excess paper to good use!

  • you forgot the most fun part, blow up the bottom to make it 3d!! :) great tut

  • got lost in 4:30 even though i creased it perfectly i didn't understand that.

  • Look at spot 4:42. Are you pulling the two parts gently away from each other? If you are using origami paper - and gave very sharp creases - then the two long sides of the diamond will fold towards the center along those creases. Are the sides folding in towards the center as you pull the two points away from each other?

  • no they arent

  • If you feel they are not, then what are they doing? Paper does not stretch, so they must be moving in some direction as you pull the points apart. They cannot stay still ...

  • awesome! this is 5/5 go origami!

  • It took a few tries but I did it! Thanks for uploading the video.

  • I'm glad you found this useful!

  • I make it!!!!!!!!

  • i cant do it i have it perfectly put when you have to pull those 2 things apart and ofld them it dont work!!

  • i get lost there too.

  • Make sure you crease your folds very sharply. You are causing your paper to fold on those folds you made previously. Also make sure you're using origami paper, so that it is thin enough to do the fold.

  • uh hi i relly love your origami where can you buy origami paper cause im kinda running out

  • Pretty much all craft stores, like Michael's for example, stock origami paper!

  • Your instructions are perfect!

I am a total rookie and I found out that it is hard to find a video explaining how to make origami so good. In every video there is always a step I just couldn't follow but in your video I can see everything so perfectly.

Thank you for adding this video!!!

  • I'm so glad you found it helpful!

  • is it oke to make origami with just regular paper? greetz

  • It's ok to make origami with anything you want - some people use tin foil! Just keep in mind it will be more *challenging* to make it from regular paper. Origami paper is thinner than most papers and is easier to fold. So if you're up to the challenge, enjoy!

  • ^)^

     _

  • where do you buy origami papers??

    8D

  • There are tons of sites online that sell them plus local craft stores too. I use pretty much all of them since each location has a different stock of paper. So start with your local craft stores since you can actually see what you're getting there.

  • I am a total newbie as far as origami is concerned and I find your video's excellent and honestly the only ones I can follow without making a mess. Thank you so much. gre
