  • I'm not sure what's going on with your computer, but I have a Kodak Zi-8 and Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 and I can edit my video files just fine.

In fact, I'm be able to import just about every file format I've thrown at Premiere Elements.

  • Those cheap cameras usually have rather poor low-light performance, a pretty useless zoom, etc. It is all fine if all you want to do is film interviews or a bunch of people not doing much. As you have a windows PC, try a program called AVS video (it can deal with a number of formats: mov, divx, mpeg, etc). I much prefer the Mac for editing movies (iMovie, final cut express), and the PC when playing games, or certain programs not available for Macs. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the review. I had a Zi8, but ended up returning it b/c I quickly realized how important a flash is for me.

I'll do some more research into the Sanyo.

  • I have had the Sanyo for several months now. I really like it for the price. The image stabilization isn't the best but typical for a small camera. The HD is nice. I use a tripod so the image stabilization isnt an issue. The pics are decent too. Overall I highly recommend the camera in this price range.

  • I have adobe premiere elements and the .mov file type works great

  • boring ass review

  • Also the zoom for the Zi8 is fixed in a new update that makes it a smooth zoom instead of jerky.

  • Thanks. I will check this out.

  • You really should be using something besides Windows Movie Maker, but a great review though!

  • Sanyo 1010 much better.

  • Kind of an unfair review eyyy? A $146 camcorder vs. a $329 one - amazon prices.

Times each by 100 and this would like comparing a $14,600 car and a $32,900 car. Gee, wonder which one is going to be better? Duh.

Since we're ok with jumps in price than why not add some more cash and buy a real camcorder?

For my money, the sanyo is expensive and too close in price to "real" camcorders with more features.

  • I did go to cnet and do a search for a codec download. I found one very easily and downloaded it. Now the files of both the xacti and zi8 can be edited in Movie Maker. The zi8 files are about 1/2 -1/3 the size. The quality of the video is pretty amazing given the low cost of the unit. Its less then 1/2 the price of the xacti. For some reason, maybe the optics, 10x zoom, 4MP camera w/flash, the mounting shoe, the dock, and the solid construction, I am beginning to prefer the xacti over the zi8.

  • @tdrothrock Do you have the link for the codec? Maybe I'll just search myself...

  • @1joke2joke3joke4 sorry I dont. I bought an iMac with imovie and it works great!

  • the Zi8 way not be windows compatible BUT it is very mac compatible

  • The review might be a good one except you did not use your ext mic. Very diffacult to understand anything you are talking about

  • a Excellent review moviemaker is a very basic program, just like any otherprogram on the market, it is a very Old program,, just a freeware to your win pc.

The Kodak file are Large, the Aiptek is smaller but again .mov format the sanyo is not on the same line of the Kodak. orsomewil think. Kodak is so basic, you hardely have any controls. point and shoot,

Much can be said. find a converter. forexample total mdeia impressions use thconverter to mov-avi good luck
