@ItsGrantCasual I fucked the shit out of some chic in St. Louis once. Me and the boys went there for a baseball trip and i started flirting with this girl in the centerfield bleachers. Next thing i know, she was blowing my brains out in my hotel room. I also fucked her in the ass. Bitch never called me back though.
I was on a band trip in St. Louis. We stayed in the hotel that kind of looks like an upside down 'U' at 2:55 It was pretty cool. I don't know how I felt about the swaying back and forth over 600' above the ground though lol.
marshan3q yes St.Louis does have the highest crime rate acording to the 2010 ratings. I love St.Louis it is my 2nd favorite city (because I live in Nashville) i have been in the arch 2 and it was awesome! I was sort of scared at first but I got over it. I love the Cardinals and we go on a baseball trip every year. But seriously East St.Louis is preety bad. I know more about St.Louis tham my own hometown, Nashville.
Went to school at SLU and lived there for a few years, but never have I been in the Arch-I am terrified of heights. I have taken many friends and relatives to the Arch but never went up.
I never felt unsafe in st louis, so i am somewhat bewildered with the moniker of worst city for crime. It is a beautiful and historic city. If I could afford a property in the CWE I would move back in a heartbeat.
BigTexan7 - Yep, some of the food on The Hill is traditional HEAVY pasta - not my favorite either. Ahhhh, but have you tried toasted ravioli or an Amighetti sandwich? To die for! Maybe next time.
I visited St. Louis recently and the city is great, St. Louisans are nice folks and I loved the eclectic neighborhoods (especially The Hill). The only knock on St. Louis is the food. I made an effort to eat out for the 3 days I was there and had the worst food I have ever tasted from several "celebrated" restaurants. I was psyched to eat authentic Italian cuisine in The Hill but 2 of the restaurants I tried were just awful. I don't know how people living in St. Louis eat out!
@BigTexan7 lived in stl all my life! the closest thing i've had to great italian food is the pizza! i completely agree with you as to fine dinning! but you should have tried the pizza its fantastic! and i now live in san antonio texas and its incredible here also!
The reason st.louis is the best city is because places like chicago and NY yeah there bigger but there crowded they stink they are just so.. idk not "homey" st.louis is a big city but not a big city its a city were you can feel like you still live in a small town but also in a big city... if that makes any sense idk
@marshan3q st.louis doesnt have the worst crime rate! east st.louis (illinois) has the worst crime rate! and i live in texas and know this! i've been to st.louis numerous times. even once lived there! and not once heard a police siren! i went downtown, north county, west county, and south county chesterfield! i've even been to parts of the city and loved it! on my way back to texas we came across east stl and it looked horrible! very poverty stricken area which causes a high crime rate!
@codybe2cool i know exactly what u mean!! Its alot more dense then people think once you get downtown..You really do feel like your in a big city! But at the same time you can be anywhere you want in 20 minutes or less...Go LOU!!
The height doesn't bother me. I have been to the skydeck of the Willis Tower on the 103rd floor and the 60th floor of the JP Morgan Chase building in Houston. But, the arch looks like it is a little too cramped for me. I like having my space. I bet the view is nice.
in the very beginning its a tight squeeze if ur clastraphobic dont go ( i know i spelt it wrong) * I threw up twice* im also afraid of Heights. im 15mins away from St.louis arch
I work at the arch as a tour guide. The arch sways about half an inch in either direction at a constant wind speed of around 30 mph. That is enough to feel it swaying....
"hersheyandshadow": I don't know what end of the arch I was on(I think it was the end closest to the Adams Mark Hotel), What I saw was a film about the building of the arch, not the riverfront in the 19th cemtury and it was on a very large theatre-like screen, not a television.
In fact, I just got back from St. Louis, and I visited the arch, and went up and down the same wings! (up-south, down-north) And the film I saw was on the 19th century lifestyle of the St. Louis Riverfront, shown on large theater like screens!
The difference of the film is that on the north end, they show it on TV's, and on the south end, they use projectors! What did you see that film on? I saw it on a projector!
Um, the film about how the arch was built is shown on TV's, if your film was on a projector, yours would be about life on the St. Louis Riverfront in the 1800's.
There doesn't even need to be wind and you can feel it move. All tall structures like that, naturally sway or they would break. And if you stand still, even with little to no winds, you'll still feel the sway.
@MightyStarsky well I've lived here for 18 years and been to both of those plenty of times, still sucks ass!

This arch was copied from the one projected by Adalberto Libero for "esposizione universale romana" or E.U.R 1942.

@PatriotIzzy : The viewing room is not claustrophobic, but the little capsule you go up in is.
