Lighting is looking good. Took me some time to figure out that the minecraft lighting system fills the envirnment with light the same way it works with water, except its instant and not effected by gravity. Don't forget to darken in a vertex if its at a crease or corner and it takes only a little extra processing time to do.
Water reflections (like here: /watch?v=VsxXcyV7xm8 ) would be awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience, it is a great project!
