the music on young modern is like nothing i've ever heard before. i think it's cool that they don't care about being mainstream. they have style that is evolving and unique and they dont take the easy route and churn out song after song that sound like everything else on the radio. i admire that. i guess people will always judge and criticize whatever is different from the norm.

Straight Lines is the only ridiculous album. I am not one of those "Frogstomp only" fans. Diorama is probably my favorite album of all times. Pretty sure that wasn't during the "90's". A true fan is giving a reality check, some people can't take it.

lots of you say "good bands are changing, but, to be honest, i prefer old silverchair". And i kind of agree with this opinion. I think, that 90% of us would like Silverchair to try to come back to their roots. Bands do need experiments but we still want to know which group we're listening to. I mean Frogstomp, Freak Show, Neon Ballroom- this albums were different but you still could say "yeaah, that IS Silverchair". I just can't say it about Young Modern, and I'm not really sure about Diorama.

Unfortunately, the music silverchair makes is ultimately an extension of Daniel's personality. So I would say we just don't really like him anymore. Can you blame us? These are great performances, but the music is just a kitchy disaster.

Daniel's changed a lot, and maybe now we want good old Daniel to come back, Daniel who could make us cry, laugh...(when I saw Straight Lines for the first time I was like: "Oh my God..." and quickly turned it off). But it just won't happen. The days has changed, in most cases playing good music is just not enough.

Too many bands NOT changing it up, and doing the same old boring thing. I commend bands like Silverchair, Radiohead etc. for expanding their style. You can't expect them to like the same things as when they were 15. I sure don't like what I was into at 15.
