  • i still don't understand the need for no fall arrest protection.

  • Enter your text

    here.

  • wtf horriblee music

  • Hats off you you guys, not everyone could do this type of work. Thanks for keeping the transmission system working for all of us!

  • how the fuck dont they die

  • @upursful I think its because theres no current flow to ground. Meaning if they were on the ground and touching the wires then they would be sorry

  • estos son verdaderos hombres.. los elogio.. :)

  • ill stick to lv poles thanks :)

  • Real men at work.

  • hats off to you guys. I am an commercial/industrial electrician, myself. how long are you guys usually away from home, and is the money worth it? like really worth it?

  • yes i noo !!!

  • mute, mute the muuuute, if you mute me mute my MUTE!!!

  • i work in the same work as u, where is that line?? wow

  • shit fucking music,

  • Linework on a nice sunny day? It's a lie!

  • Damn respect to the guys who have to do that daily

  • hey guys is it the red or the bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...............

  • @marc002925 That's not fucking funny moron, seen to many guys killed by guys taking it as lightly as you.

  • Knowledge is power

  • Hey which song is it ?

  • @Maidenize666 *looks under the likes/dislikes bar*

God I wonder which song it is.

  • well if its up to you guys behind the desk to get it done crawl your ass right on up there then you might have the degree but it aint happen without these guys so toot ur horn there is plenty of peep out there that'll pay these guys theirss they dont even half to ask for Gaw your fu44in idiot

  • @coopgrl1 look, i clearly state that i respect these guys for what they do. And that I agree that this job wouldn't be possible with out them, but guess what it is up to the guys with the degree to make sure this is possible.

  • Damn these workers have brass ones! I bet they're well insulated brass though....

  • At least they played some manly music for a change. Most Youtube "soundtrack" music is worse then Justin Bieber....

  • Fuck that...

  • gotta love this trade

  • 89 people dont know what this really is

  • Next time you see a Lineman, ask him what he made last year..... believe me....they are compensated very well for what they do. I doubt this line was energized, Salt River Project (SRP) typically grounds out thier work area and the line probably had induction between the grounds which is what you see in the last slide.

  • YouPic

  • engineers????? seriously??? you see this and you think about the engineers? come on.... the engineer is sitting at the pub drinking cold beer while these guys risk it all..... dont get eletrocuted by the office printer their bud...... hehehe

good video, thank a linesman, your life would suck with out them..

  • @b440bethea Ya I do think about the engineers, cause if it wasnt for the engineers then this wouldnt be possible, They wouldnt have any of the equipment they need, they would even have a job because the field would even be developed, so actually you should thank a linesman AND an engineer. Im not taking anything away from these guys cause ya they work hard, but so dont the engineers.

  • @BigBossDogMothaTruck i mean wouldnt even have a job.

  • Hey Hey Hey OSHA no longer allows this activity. The Obama administration has determined that big iron and high voltage work is hazardous to your health and probably causes cancer. Nazi Polosi and the rest of the people that have never done a real day of work in their pathetic life have outlawed it. Obamacare doesn't have provisions for people with real jobs where they earn every last cent. And by the way you can no longer piss and spit on people from >100 Ft AGL thats not covered either.

  • @contrapezist r u serious man, obama is telling us what we can and cant do now. that president has over stayed his welcome long enough.. time for him to go into exile!

  • @nodmessenger They havnt yet, but I wouldnt put it past them. So many industries have been OSHA'd and EPA'd to death. Many utilities arn't doing their own big iron work anymore they contract it out. You can only regulate to death so far untill you don't have anyone left to do the job.

  • @contrapezist it disgust me how OSHA is basically cutting jobs, and making it so much harder on jobs till the point well.. well no company will be able to survive no matter how big or small the company is!

  • @nodmessenger OSHA is ruining the American Dream really. I work in telecommunications, and during heavy storms, or peak season installs, I cannot work 7 days straight. Even if I want to. I also cannot skip a lunch, because of them. The company will pay me the overtime (which, I could use). They should set a standard, but an employee should be able to not have to follow it. Let me decide how I wanna work, knowing the safe limits and such.

  • @kirbyyasha the problem with that is u only complain after u get hurt.

  • @punkid41 People also get hurt when they work a normal 40 hour week. Getting plenty of rest, eating right, I could work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day no problem.

  • @kirbyyasha your complaining about the company not lettin u not take a lunch. the moment they let employees do thigns is when ppl complain. and the reason they dont give u over time is because they have to charge overtime. customers dont like that. try to look at the big picture. not just your view.

  • This is interesting. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use hot sticks on anything higher than about 12,000V (usually workers "clamp on" in VHV conditions).

  • Simply speechless, that definitely takes some balls. my respect to all working the lines.

  • Engineers need to be there so that someone can keep track of the parts for the bean counters. The guys on the poles and lines have to figure out how to put it together. Have you ever tried to put together a complicated something when the instructions are incomplete and in Chinese? That's about right. It's mostly from falls, frostbite and heat exhaustion that these guys get hurt, not the electricity. Been there. They have my highest respect.

  • @Maatdrummer1 Yeah, because the engineers don't actually design this stuff so it's relatively safe for these guys to do their job? Moron!

  • Bringing power to the people. Nice work boys. And if u dont like what u see then dont fuckin watch, just keep taking for granted that when u flip that switch your lights will come on.

    ibew353

  • I could never do this... Just look at how that ladder is sagging a bit... Ugh *dies*

  • Fucking TERRIBLE song. Why? Why would you pick this piece of shit song for this?

  • these guys have some SERIOUS balls!

  • people who think there lame jobs are cool. are why america sucks.... fuck you slaves.

  • Proud member of IBEW Local 266......Cable Splicer, Fault Locating Ops..Great Work Big Crew !

  • I touch my own hotstick with bare hands all the time.

  • You guys are fuckin bad asses wow

  • кажись он себе что-то придавил... 0:21

  • @zfzz09 Походу да...

  • You guys make energy for my wii ps3 and dsi

  • barehand my ass. they are wearing mesh suits.

  • i liked that last pic

  • I would really like to know why there are so many "thumbs down". Show yourselves

  • 0:57 lol

  • dddd

  • parans ai galera vcs sao os cars pork e muito perigozo mesmo

  • Someone's got to work in an office too though I guess.

  • Fuck slideshows on YouTube!

  • Bare handed? I thought you guys wear some kind of special faraday cage suit when you are up there.

  • Shit music

  • @herse88 yeah i hate the music

  • At 1:04 awesome shot of the guy and the electricity

  • People gotta realize as long as your NOT grounded the electricity will NOT go through your body.

  • @gfBoBgf That's right if you are working on a rubber mat with hot gloves something 600V or 460V and you ground out it'l still kill or blow up.It's amperage that does high voltage lines usually have a different curent value that would suprise most people, take care in any case :D

  • how many HV operators die each year?

  • GETTING SHIT DONE!!! ENGINEERS I SALUTE YOU!!!

  • @hondatuner816 =D Agree! That is why America is a world superpower. No one can take America! LOL I actually like Ireland though, just not this stupid fuck who is prejudice and fucking retarded. Hondatuner, you rock!

  • Song please???? If there's one thing i love America for... It's the heavy metal... and also being a weapons enthusiast, the ability to buy guns and make backyard missiles...

  • @gfruy seether - remedy

  • @sparroestar22 Thanks a lot...

  • @hondatuner816 It so does not kick ass, even when u say "kick Ass" u sound like a knob muncher. d whole world thinks America's a dump an full of bumbs livin outta carts, u wank bag. Ah! i see u can spell Ireland, (remember who built new york and boston, we did ! you thick American Cunt, we built that shit). here look at what I can spell."Fuck America, and your islamic president" the mixed up inbread kip full of waisters an half breeds. all u cunts originated from everywere but America, u DICK

  • Back in Soviet Russia, we used to do this with no safety equipment.

  • @legithax0r LOL

  • Terrible music....my god....just....awful.

    Kool video, otherwise, thanks.

  • AWSOME REAL MEN DOING REAL WORK!!!!!! SO KOOOOL !!! MANLY MUSIC TOOOO!!! AND MANNNNY POWWWERR LINZZZ

  • Was this in Tucson Arizona?

  • This video rocks. About half way through I got so pumped up I punched a hole through my wall and dented the drywall on the otherside. That's how pumped I got, bitches.

  • @jjjooommm222 imagine how pumped we get when were do it:) lol vein poppin stuff lol.

  • @thefloorjacker I feel sorry for you unintelligent people. Honestly.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance Thats not what your ma said last night when she was jumpin round the bedroom with a hot stick up her crack, all the lads say it il take 10 years to get the smile off her face,

  • @thefloorjacker lol mom jokes haha

you're right! but you are one sick person to sleep with dead whores. but it can't be so that her face exhibited some expression, because a carcass does not change expression. you should see a psychiatrist to help your sick sex issues.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance..... Huh? "MOM" jokes? yousound like a cock muncher, what the fuck are you anyway, american????? You amercan muther fuckers are all as thick as two short planks, 90 % percent of you cocks dont even have a passport. you slack jaw red neck Yokel .hur hur hur hur, flute stick!

  • @thefloorjacker you DO realize that YOU'RE the one who made a mom joke, and that is why I called you fucking retarded?

LOL Your fleeting attempts at trying to get on my nerves are hilarious. You must be trying to make things better by trying to make other people unhappy, because your dad fucks you in the ass every night.

Unfortunately you're not very good at making others unhappy, so you have to keep trying harder and harder, just like your dad gets harder and harder inside your ass.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance awh,has it taken dis time 4u2 tink dat up? u must a had a team of American monkeys workin round d clock 2 um up wiv dat1. u musta found your brain in a dumpster, u limp dick fag..ha ha ha, your laughed at. Here did u hear the story everyone is talkin about???its about your ma! yea she's comin2Ireland for a "Fuckathon", basically shes be suckin the balls off 99 leprechauns then I am gonna take her for the money shot, all d boyz reckon she ll be goin home like a water bottle.

  • @thefloorjacker whoa man, speak English. I can't understand a single fucking word you are saying. Or maybe it's just because you are fucking retarded.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance Ahhh hahahhha , your American brain is maxed out, overloaded, you just ran outta steam brother, is that all u got dudet? your laughed at ! ah hahahh. I reckon ill get a decent reply next year wiv your brain power. Hey whats your IQ?.... I would say zero!.... you would say..... "ehhh gee's boss I dunno, I am to thick! I am suprised I even have the brain power to speak".........Ah hahaha ,two fingers to you bud.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance Its like I have always said. Never insult people over the internet if English isn't your first language.

  • @EmperorofCartoons

    Insult?

What's the offence here? That video displays a nice bit of team work, as acknowledged by @zfzz09, and you're sensitivity has been provoked. What are you concerned about?

  • @jjjooommm222 bet your in the fuckin' zone too right?

  • @jjjooommm222 So what your saying is pictures of men get you excited

  • @jjjooommm222

Ever punched through a solid oak door? I have... When I found out my parents died in a car wreck... Surprisingly it didn't hurt my hand... Punchin shit is fun though....

  • @jjjooommm222 Yeah, but...now you've got to fix your wall. lol Pumped up about that? :D

  • Fing dreadfull noise (so called music)

  • @thebazzoid whats so bad amount this song?

  • @jjjooommm222 Not our fault you're an idiot. Now tell mommy and daddy you're sorry before you go to bed...

  • @jjjooommm222 Roid rage anyone??

  • Another question... Are barehand and Faraday suit for different situations? Or does wearing Faraday suit apply to the same kind of jobs but is safer and more expensive?

  • wtf... dangerous job ever..

  • Do these guys have to have special made clothes to carry their balls around or what? I mean you'd have to have balls of steel to do that job, I wouldn't do it for a million dollars a hour.

  • YOU PEOPLE HAVE MY TOTAL RESPECT, What you do on a daily basis is heroic.

  • Make you sterile doin that crap! LOL

  • Lose the wanna be music.

  • South African band seether

  • Are the phases far enough so that someone won't touch 2 phases at the same time?

  • @iworms Unless someone can reach about 20 feet, YES The insulators from a flashover I brought home several years ago were about 14 feet of ceramic links and over a foot long eye bolt on each end. Once they have been splattered with molten metal they get swapped out. They usually figure about 1/2 inch per thousand volts when designing this stuff. Touching one phase and just being close enough to the other can cause flash over if you enter the corona field of the other phase enough. ZZZZT!

  • Balls of steel!

  • @alexanderwheeler you took the words right out of my mouth!

  • birds aren't grounded. that's why they sit on power lines without dying a sparky death.

  • How do birds sit on the cable,do they get energized a bit by the voltage, any arcs?

  • just dont earth out or as you americans call it ground or POOOOFFF you toast

  • I just went on a job site and saw my bro crew do bare hands line work; it is amazing stuff and cannot believe you guys do this just to keep our power on while repairing or replacing lines. You are rare breed for sure!

  • ? é fucking mesmo kkkk

  • fucking fucking fucking yes sei falar ingles n porra fucking os americanos kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • looks like a pretty fun job dude

  • these are not real men. real men are financial analysts on wall street

  • @joeglimmix i know right? -.-

  • You guys are nuts.. lol

  • As soon as you got wiyhin a few feet of the line an arc would occur between you and the line due to the capacitance of your body charging up to the same potential as the line . This would kill you . YOU DONT NEED TO BE IN CONTACT WITH GROUND , OR ANOTHER WIRE AT THESE VOLTAGES . People who tell you this dont understand about these very high voltages ( typically physics teachers , etc !!! ) Ask someone who knows ( like transmissionlineman ) or myself - Ive worked in this idustry for years.

  • @bigwoolleypenguin this would kill you? you seen it first hand him doing it. and no it wont kill him because its not passing thru him. Its equalizing not charging/discharging. But guess what that line aint hot. what you see there is either electrostatic or electromagnetic induction charging of that line, Ive personally watched guys work from helocopters on distribution lines and they HAVE to equal the potential because not only the wire is charged but also the Helo creates static charge.

  • As transmissionlineman says ( at last somebody who knows what they are talking about ) this line is LIVE - the power is ON. I am fed up with people who know nothing about high voltage power transmission telling us that youd be OK touching a live power line so long as you were not in contact with ground or another phase conductor . THIS IS INCORRECT . If you could somehow " float " or " hover " the air and touch a powerline of this size ( 500KV ) you would be electrocuted .

  • Those are FUCKING GINORMOUS insulators!

  • big ballzos! :)

  • impressive rigging! not much of that left thesedays

  • interesting note learned today...im an apprentice sparky and teacher was sayin if by some tradgedy you are on powerlines and grounded (now dead) ...down the line theres like 4 or 5 big spikes of power to blow whatever is on them off

  • @sucksqueezebangblow

false.. if a there is a fault on a line, and it is equipped with a "recloser" then it will reclose the power line up to three times. this makes a temporary fault, like a bird going phase to ground, from becoming permanent .. but if it recloses the line 3 times and the bird doesnt fall off then it will remain off until a lineman fixes it....... there is no "spike" ......it is just the normal line voltage "reclosing"

  • @Electriceeeel Just a little more info. 5-kV lines may relay 3 times. 34.5-kV one time. Most transmission lines dont have reclosers. The DC transmission lines, CEL-SYL and INT-ADL have restarts, 1 at normal, then 2 at lower voltages. Good luck with your training.

  • MOAR!

  • Those are some true fucking thrill seekers there.

  • Am i right in saying that the current travels through the allover suit, which acts as a faraday cage, and down through whatever the lineman is attached to and down to ground?

  • @John27346 yes. the suit he wears is like a faraday. the suit just becomes part of the"circuit". electricity come from the line, flows around the suit then back to the line. it doesn't go to a ground because the lineman isnt attached to a ground. if he were he'd probly roast. the orange ladder he's sitting on is of a non-conductive material insulated from the electricity. if it were an aluminum ladder it would ground to something its attached to like the telephone pole. then he might get crispy

  • This isn't right.

  • @cydonianman You are completely wrong

  • Respond to this video... You are wrong

  • im auto technician... and i work on 12v cars and 0-5v circuits... lol form pcs and other ECUs...

lol but i cant even imagine the amperage or strength of 500kv

  • The song is "Back to the Remedy" By Seether.

  • lame

  • this guys, are real men doing real work. enjoy your air conditioned offices.

  • @calelandess Don't bite the hand that feeds

  • @calelandess and I will enjoy my job as a Union Inside Wireman lol

  • @calelandess okay, I will enjoy my safe air conditioned office that does not carry the imminent risk of death at every moment. I think women should do all the dangerous work, so they can die. Why should men be forced to do it all? Sounds like a bad deal to me, women have it easy, all they have to do is [maybe] have a baby, where it hurts for only like an hour or less (but 99.99999% of the time does NOT kill) .

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance ive worked with plenty women as an industrial electrician. to be honest they scare the shit out of me. women in this kind of workplace is not a good idea. you put your life in other peoples hands most of the time. women often over-calculate and slow down other people's pace. its hard to stay on the same page as a woman. if a woman is on the rag and having a bad day then she could be careless. not such a good idea.

  • @calelandess when you put it that way, i agree with you. Women and their emotions... they annoy the hell outta me sometimes.

  • @PeacefulVocalTrance Dude, it took 14 hours for my wife to deliver my daughter. You try cramming something the size of a cantalope out of an oriface the size of a golfball. Wussbag.

  • @calelandess this real men cant spell, but do gud workkkk!!!

  • @optislayerpictures fuk english.

  • @calelandess The world needs ditch diggers. I love my a/c office thank you very much.

  • @IIB20VTEC

Takes all types to make the world work...but these guys keep your A/C on

  • @calelandess I actually work designing substations, and I don't think the linesmen like us very much :) I have alot of respect for what they do, though. Takes real balls.

  • @calelandess its the guys behind the desk that make this possible

  • @BigBossDogMothaTruck

Its guys behind the desk that gotta remember who is out there...

  • @hilrider im not taking credit away from what they do. But if it wasnt for the engineers these guys wouldnt have this job

  • @BigBossDogMothaTruck guys behind the desk ma ass its grunts like mee who make this possible.ima GRUNT ftw!!!!

  • @th3boi3x oh ya? explain to me how your gonna do this job without the engineering behind this. I'm not saying this isnt hard work, Im not taking anything away from these guys. Just dont forget the guys who actually make this happen

  • @BigBossDogMothaTruck Bahahah! They sure like to think so.

  • @outfoxed2006 haha it is

  • @BigBossDogMothaTruck us guys behind the desk appreciate yer comment :-)

  • whats the song?

  • @theguyinthefunnyhat remedy by seether

  • One time there was a huge thunder storm right above me in a field, and all of the hair on my body stood straight up because of the static generating on the ground. I was genuinely scared and ran as fast as I could to the nearby rowhouses across the road, and realized later on that I was very close to being struck by lightning.
