  • It is a Lister Start-O-Matic. Manufactured in 1958.This single cylinder Diesel, known as an EIGHT ONE and is driving a generator with control gear that was made for Use where the "mains" supply was not available. It starts automaticaly when a load of over 40 watts is applied (by switching on a light bulb) and shuts down automaticaly when all load is taken off. It has a 230volt output of 4 kw at 850 r.p.m.

  • Very nice 6/1 start o matic, fine engine, will outlive me!

  • @steamwally Thanks, I've taken the effort to actually find out the rest of the engine details.

  • Just read them. I should have known it was an 8/1, too fast for a 6! Never mind I was tired when I watched it!

  • @steamwally Thanks for the interest. This one was a lot of fun to restore. Looks like you'r into steam. We say that an old diesel is the next best thing to a steam engine. Chris.

  • Well when I started here on youtube I was collecting model steam engines, but got into stationary engines soon after....I have 5 engines now and have restored some and had a few more on the way....it's a very addictive hobby!

Do you go to the rallys?

    Phill.
